What a serendipitous find!! There's quite a few good restaurants in and around Mystic, Connecticut and Westerly, Rhode Island and this wonderful place must be considered up there with the absolute BEST! The food was high quality, mostly locally sourced and perfectly prepared. Sauces and seasoning couldn't have been tastier. Went there a few days ago for the first time. My first choice was the "Summer Fettuccine" which unfortunately was so popular it had recently sold out. I settled for the more plebeian hanger steak which at any random restaurant can be anywhere from meh (mediocre) to excellent. This was EXCELLENT! Tender and tasty. Loved it. I decided to come backcountry the next morning and sample their breakfast fare. Equally delicious. So satisfying. Had a few things all excellent but the "simple" (not really so simple) "Morning Taco" was outstanding; definitely a cut above. Owl & Dove is a charming restaurant overlooking the Pawkatuck River. They have a decent menu that is priced pretty fairly. We tried a few different things but our favorites were the tomato burrata and the chicken schnitzel. We didn't care too much for the Johnny cakes since it didn't have flavor to it. We stopped in here on Valentine's Day on the way home from Mohegan Sun. There's a pretty large parking lot behind the building so it was a short walk. This place is adorable. I actually expected it to be really busy when we got there around 10:45, but there were quite a few open tables. They sat us in a queue table right in the window near the water. I couldn't decide what to get because everything looks so good. I ended up with the Patatas Brava which had soupy in it. I haven't had soup in years and they made it really stand out with the home fries, eggs, and crema. My wife had the basic breakfast, and everything was fresh and cooked perfectly. We ordered an apple crêpe for the table that had caramel and toasted almonds on it. The staff was also great. We had one waitress, but a second one was always there to check on us. The service gets five stars for sure! I wish we had a place like this near our house. What an amazing breakfast. Service was friendly and efficient. The food was incredible. The omelettes were cooked to perfection as were the home fries and bacon. My husband I celebrated 4th of July Sunday at the Owl & Dove. The restaurant is close to town and offers plenty of municipal and street parking. The food was exceptional!! I dined on Seacoast Mushroom Toast, Crunchy Fish Sando (best ever), Burnt Orange Brulee (my favorite dessert in any flavor). Started with an orange Mimosa and ended with robust coffee in an adorable mug that sells out. 5 stars***** across the board. After playing off-season tourists in Westerly (blissfully emptied of the summer crowds!), we were ready for a relaxing lunch on this beautiful autumn day. We found it in Owl & Dove, welcomed and seated by a lovely hostess by a sunny window overlooking the Pawtucket River. The service is kind and friendly, the dining room ambience charming and warm. The food was terrific - I had a crispy fried fish sandwich that was super fresh haddock in a polenta crust with homemade tartar sauce and greens - plus some really excellent fries. My wife had their orzo salad which she said was excellent along with a filet of the same polenta encrusted fish. This is an adorable spot with a beautiful view. I've eaten here twice. The first time, I had the fish and chips, an appetizer special of chicken gyoza, and the sourdough Ben-yays. The food was hot, delicious, and service was excellent. The second time, I brought my mom. I enjoyed my best burrito and she thought her seasonal pasta dish was pretty good. I got the bread pudding for dessert and it was supposed to have dulce de leche ice cream but it had lemon. My mom's apple crisp was a let down. The apples weren't cooked down enough to have that yummy gooey pie filling consistency. They were more crunchy. The ice cream was tasty (it came with lemon ice cream). Service was friendly and our water was constantly being refilled. This is a great spot to check out and I want to go back for brunch. read more

A restaurant that serves both breakfast & dinner - I can recommend for both! The inside is loaded with natural light during the day due to the massive windows. That light compliments a nautical theme with many hidden bird references to the decor. The service here is always flawless to bring you the best food. For breakfast, the fare runs from the basic eggs and bacon to the more inventive 'breakfast ramen'. Both options are amazing and will fill you up for a day walking around High street. In comparison, dinner will keep you stuffed all night like fresh fish and chips or an amazing stuffed burrito. We arrived to Connecticut and were please to find a late reservation. The restaurant was dimly lit with romantic lighting and the walls were decorated with local art. Everything seemed very natural from the fresh cut flowers to the menu options. Prices were very reasonable. The flavor of the food was fresh, but well seasoned. Great bread with delicious olive oil. All I can say is, get over to Owl & Dove now! My husband and I were looking for a nice brunch option -- boy did we find one! The restaurant is so bright and cozy with a dining area on one side and a small bar on the other. The staff was lovely and attentive, and despite still trying to figure things out (the restaurant is very new), we left stuffed and happy! Due to a slight mixup my husband ended up with the hangar steak which was cooked to a perfect medium-rare. It was certainly a happy accident because he really enjoyed it. I went with the "Hangover Cure" which was a Johnny cake topped with brisket, eggs, and pickled onions. The pickled onions added great freshness and "zing", while the brisket was rich and tender. I'm going to be dreaming of this dish. Coffee was fresh, the drinks sound amazing, and dinner looks like a treat as well. Can't wait to go back for "owl" time. A real gem in downtown. Adorable, clean and friendly staff. Good breakfast. Went back for happy hour the next day. Warning:happy hour is literally ONLY one hour! We had the pickled platter. For the most part that has ok. Some of the items on it were not great. The pickles and soupy (from Westerly Meats) were by far the best part. The margaritas were No Bueno...too bitter. Ambiance is ON POINT - music at the perfect volume for intimate conversation with your loved ones, an amazing perch over the river, rotating art showcases lining their walls...you can't beat it. Food is ON FIRE - please try the beef cheek dumplings (you might not want to share them), the kimchi ramen, and the hangar steak. I wanted to eat everything on the menu, so I suppose I'll have to keep coming back to continue to rave about the other options. Wine list is curated and delicious. Creative cocktails. Nice rotating draft beer menu. The Staff is knowledgeable, prompt, and very warm. They seem like a family, which is my favorite kind of house to walk into. Owl & Dove opened recently in Pawcatuck in the former Mia's Cafe space overlooking the Pawcatuck River and Westerly. The space was redone nicely with the cozy bar area to the left and the dining room to the right. They serve their interesting dishes offering a Morning Dove brunch menu and a Night Owl dinner menu. They also have a drink menu from the bar. They currently serve brunch until 2pm, except Wednesdays and dinner starting at 5pm except Wednesdays and Sundays. I stopped by for brunch recently and decided to sit up at the bar. I started out with ice water and I ordered the Hangover Helper ($16 plus tax). The entree arrived nicely plated in about 12 minutes. The Hangover Helper was stacked well with braised brisket (lean meat & fat) over crispy johnny cakes in a hearty gravy, topped with folded eggs and pickled red onion. I finished my food, then requested the check which was $17.18 with tax and before gratuity. Overall, the food was pretty good with good beef and egg flavors and not too much or too little. The bartender was friendly and the service was adequate with another ice water given as I finished the first glass. I want to try their dinner selections next time. read more

Most restaurants around here are closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. Smart!!! The environment is a "taverny" comfortable feel to it. There are two areas for dining-one with a bar and high top tables. The quality of the food is right up there with top restaurants with REASONABLE prices. The chef (owner) attended Johnson and Wales, so no surprise there. lol. I had the Owl Omelet (mushrooms, tomatoes, spinach, cheddar, home fries and multigrain toast). I added soupy. Check out the pic of this dish. It was absolutely delicious and had a good fill of what was in it. The soupy had a great flavor and was lean. My significant other had the Handover Helper (braised brisket, crispy Johnny cakes, folded eggs, pickled red onion and braising gravy). . What a great surprise. He said it was fabulous and a great combination. Again, check out the pic. The brisket was very tasty and tender, and not overly salted. The rest of the food choices with this dish were also tasty.
