While none of the dishes were particularly bad, they also didn't stand out as exceptional. We'd give food a 3-star rating overall. When we are traveling to Florida we always stop overnight in Ocala, mainly because we look forward to having dinner at Milano. We have been doing this for years... While our dinner was very good, we were surprised to see how much the portions have been reduced. Keep in mind, our last visit was about 6 months ago. In the past the portions were so large, and since we were staying in a hotel, I would end up leaving half my meal behind because I couldn't take it with me... Not so last night. My husband ordered the Chicken Francese and I ordered the Eggplant Parmigiana, planning to share both dishes. We were served one small piece of chicken and three small pieces of eggplant. We also had the complimentary salad and a side of pasta. While the meal was enough, it was just enough. In fact, I ended up giving my husband two pieces of my eggplant because the chicken portion was so small. On a positive note. My cosmo was very good and the wine pour was very generous. We will return, since the meal was still excellent, but the reduction in portion size was noticeable and disappointing. read more

This is a very plain and cute Italian spot in Ocala. The ambience is superb. They had a gentleman playing the keyboard with nice dinner music and he was fabulous. We made a reservation and were initially seated at a small table where we felt cramped. The staff accommodated us by putting us in a booth, which I appreciate their responsiveness. The the food was simply delicious. We tried multiple pizzas and main dishes along with appetizers. The service was good, they were attentive and very friendly. My wife and I have lived in the area our whole life but this is our first time ever trying this place. I was not disappointed. I had the braised shot rib raviolis and my wife had chicken parmesan. Everything was excellent and the portions were on the larger side. Our 17 month old had the tortellini with meat sauce. Milanos wasn't our first choice for a special Father's Day meal while visiting Ocala. This restaurant is in a strip mall and ended up being an excellent restaurant. Nicely decorated! We were sat promptly and greeted by multiple people. Our server was helpful with suggestions after we asked. Our food was fresh and delicious. The servings were large that I took a to go container home. We couldn't eat dessert but my husband brought home a cannoli. Thank cannoli he enjoyed later in the evening and said it was perfect. We all loved the bruschetta and Caprese, but not a big fan of the calamari (not a lot of flavor). For my entree I had the mushroom ravioli with no tomatoes. It was delicious and cooked well. I thought the pistachio sauce was something different and complimented the dish well. It was a lot of food and I shared with some of my family. DANGER! *FOOD POISONING* My wife and I came here on a Sunday evening as a nice treat. We are new to the area and were fooled by the 1.6k reviews that must of been from the previous owners We got Italian wedding soup and chicken penne alla vodka. Later that evening we had a bit of a stomach ache, but didn't think much of it. The next morning (Monday), we both had diarrhea and nausea which lasted all day. We figured we were in the clear, especially being young and Tuesday morning the symptoms are still present. This clearly means that there was some serious cross contamination or something in the food was bad. The temperature of the food came out scolding hot, which I found a bit suspicious, as if they had gotten a temperature violation. As of Tuesday morning, I checked the Ocala food health report and this placed is littered with High priority violations, such as storing raw animal/seafood above cooked food, temperature issues, etc. I wish I had read this report before coming here as I would have avoided it like the plague. The saddest part is that this restaurant is a repeat offender of the same things every inspection and yet nothing changes. The owner needs to be heavily fined or better yet, the place needs to be shut down. This is a public safety matter. Apart from the food, the service was quite bad considering it wasn't busy at all. A total of about 6 tables between 2 waiters and 1 waitress. The layout of the restaurant was extremely weird, not that it mattered much, but I can see it being a servers nightmare trying to keep track of tables. Lastly, the chairs. If a chair rocks corner to corner, not a little, but a lot, fix them. Nothing looked maintained, the decor was clearly original which again was fine, but it looked poorly maintained. read more

A group of us decided to try Milano Italian Grill for lunch, it had been awhile since we had dined there. First of all everyone's soup came out cold, the server had to take them all back to the kitchen to heat them up in the microwave. The Italian bread placed on the table no longer resembled the hearty, crusty type they used to serve. What was once lovely dipping olive oil drenched with garlic and herbs was now just a small plate of flavorless oil. The pizzas ordered were thin, mushy and flopped over when picked up. An order of Eggplant Rollatini, which the menu stated would be stuffed with mozzarella cheese and spinach came out with just one leaf of spinach, period. Check came and we inquired about Military discount ( yes my Brother is Retired Army Disabled Vet) yes they offer one. Problem is they only offer 10% off Vets only meal. Not his whole family ( wife and daughter) they Sacrificed as much as he did. Then I ask about a Senior Discount for my wife and I. They Do not offer one. But if we are Top of the World Residents we can have 10% off our entire ticket! This is wrong on so many levels. What a Slap in the face of someone whom Served and Protected our Rights to be able to support this and all Establishments. Surly you can do better! At least offer the vets the Same discount! We had a repass dinner here recently and I would like to compliment the staff. We were seated comfortably in the private party room. Our server, Chanel, was wonderful. We originally went in here for pizza, but became so overwhelmed by the excellent selections. that we ended up completely changing our mind several times. Not a chain restaurant, but a family run operation that serves outstanding food. The pasta fagiolia was absolutely outstanding. Fresh salad super crisp and pasta sauces were excellent. If you don't care for your pasta to el dente, let them know and they will adjust it accordingly; Otherwise, be prepared for more el dente you might be used to in your pasta. The steak was cut so thin that they could never have cooked it medium. My dish was almost cold to the touch when it arrived. My wife's was warm enough for her. I asked that they redo my meal.
