The sales person Ava was very, very nice and walked her through the promotional deal. My daughter told her she needed to talk to her mom. She was told that the deal was only available at the time, immediately following the free class. She felt pressured even after expressing her needed for my approval (and to use my credit card). Unfortunately, she signed the contract (she was 19 so legally allowed to sign). Later that day, I learned what she did and pointed out she couldn't afford the monthly unlimited package and it didn't work for her return to fall semester. She talked the sales person and they offered her the 8 classes per month. It still didn't work for her schedule and was too expensive. The next day, 6/17 she asked to talk to the sales person about her membership and canceling when she was at the studio. They texted her on 6/17 and said Ava would get back to her on 6/18 and Ava never got back to her. At this time on 6/18, she could have cancelled the contract by doing so in writing but they ghosted her. It took me texting, calling, and finally stopping in the studio, and another call for Ava to get back to me, over a week later. While I know my daughter was of legal age to sign the contract, she also was within the 3 days to cancel. The sweet sales pitch (especially after explicitly stating she needed to talk to her mom) feels manipulative and predatory. I have offered to pay market rate for the classes she took and call it good. They are unyielding and insist she will be held to the contract. I regret not doing my due diligence on Club Pilates when I told her to check it out for the summer. I have now seen voluminous complaints about Club Pilates and a few about this location on google, yelp and reddit. I have filed a disputed and received a refund my my credit card company. I am trying to work it through the regional manager but I guess will also pursue BBB, Co attorney general and small claims court if needed.

I tried workout apps, weight training notebooks, every website and guide and book to try to train myself into some sort of motivation... I would manage to have some discipline for a week, max -- and then I'd skip a day, and then a few days, and then it had been months. Then my partner found The Fitness Branch. He loved it, immediately. "It's kettlebells, you'll love it, I promise." I was skeptical -- but he signed me up for a few private sessions to get the hang of it and man, I haven't looked back. That first session with Leandra changed my life. She was the very first person to truly understand and care about my fitness needs, and offer a steady and sustainable journey towards my goals. Getting stronger physically has helped my brain get stronger, and that's worth the whole endeavor -- but it's also incredibly satisfying to lay on the gym floor in a puddle of your own sweat after working really hard and having a great time while doing it. Leandra also has a background in PT -- so whenever aches and pains appear from your daily life, she always has a stretch or seven to help set you right. She understands the physiology of the kettlebell movement to the point where she can adapt an entire workout on the fly to fit your specific needs, especially if you have an injury or a flare-up. After watching many kettlebell videos on YouTube I really needed feed back on my form from someone who knows what they are doing. I was able to take an hour session with Leandra who taught me some new things and helped me correct some of my bad form. Her background in physical therapy showed and added a lot to the training! And the next day I was able to take a group class with her husband Benjamin who helped me learn new sequences and put it all together. He also adapted the routines for my level so I could keep up with the others. The other class members were also welcoming and encouraging. Overall it was a great experience and I wish I lived close just to be able to go here regularly!

I've learned that what Katie and Chris offer at the Sloans Lake and RINO F45 sites is really really special. Not only do her trainers seriously rock as authentic, motivating and caring people (literally every single one of them - Tristan, Nisha, Kenzie, Jocelyn, Jess, Gabby, Anna, Zack) but they go above-and-beyond to ensure they take care of you before, during and AFTER the workouts. Case in point - they take at least 5 min of careful guided stretching after the workouts to make sure you don't accidentally injure yourself. They also ALWAYS have alternative modified moves in case you have an existing injury. I took this hands on support for granted because I was spoiled at Sloans Lake and recognized this serious differentiator while visiting other sites that didn't have that level of support. She uses the basis of functional training but tends to leverage other methodologies once she's comfortable with your progress. She mixes it up every session and carefully tracks your progress. She stays up to date with the latest techniques, body science/mechanics, etc. I had a knee injury and she researched the best ways to rehabilitate and integrated into my training sessions - it worked. I try to see her 2-3 per week because she motivates me, she's incredibly personable and cares about her clients - and I have definitely seen a difference in my body. I feel stronger, more toned and much happier...

Being lazy hasn't hindered me in the past, but recently I've upset my metabolism with all the eating out and drinking. (I think some of you may feel my pain?) So, I've been watching this group of people run up and down the hill by my house, then do push-ups, squats, bear crawls, and a million other exercises under the direction of one man. After a while of watching I made up my mind to head down the hill and see what all this movement was about. Turns out Trainer Scott operates a boot camp 5 days a week at Wash Park (at Downing and Ohio). Monday through Thursday at 7 pm and Saturday mornings at 10 am. You can go to all 5 of these classes for $75 a month. It's almost like he doesn't give you a reason to not sign up. So I did. The first hour-long class I thought I was going to die. I almost threw up 3 times and I almost passed out 4. I know, I know. You are probably thinking why did I go back? Well, I may be exaggerating about what I felt, but that's because this workout seriously kicked my ass. Like, I could barely roll out of bed the next day because all my muscles were so very sore. I am really enjoying the classes though. Scott has a way of making time fly while making you sweat your guts out. And each time I feel myself getting a little stronger. And that is a very fantastic feeling. Plus, I've been going for about 3 weeks now and I still feel the soreness from working my muscles so hard and I think my belt is getting loser even.

All these class styles offer many benefits; I have personally seen improvements in strength, endurance, and agility, but in all my time at the gym, the improvement I am most proud of is a change in attitude. Four years ago, I would have never thought I would enjoy working out consistently, let alone join a group training class. At that time, I was occasionally going to a normal gym and sticking to basic exercises thinking that was enough to offset the sedentary lifestyle of a person working in the corporate world. A good friend convinced me to attend Scott's boot camp one day and that was the day I realized that not only was I not pushing myself hard enough, but also I had been underestimating the value of working out and the benefits it could bring to my life. The first day was tough and it made me realize just how out of shape I really was. Luckily, I found that the class was in itself the best support system. You meet all sorts of different people who all want to enjoy the workout and lead healthy lives. The positive atmosphere I felt starting that first day is one of the reasons I decided to stick around and luckily, with five boot camp classes offered each week, going after work is not a problem. Through many push-ups, pull-ups, planks, towel drags, and burpees I have achieved more than I ever thought possible. I have made many friends at the gym who motivate me and challenge me, especially Scott, who has been with me every step of the way encouraging me through mental and physical plateaus. Now, I see these classes as an essential part of my day and even look forward to the "eight-count body builder" birthday challenge (something you have to be there to enjoy). I highly recommend going to the boot camp classes. It will change your life.
