What used to be a wobbly, dangerous deck is now new sod, shrubs, flowers and a nice view from my patio! The retaining walls were professionally done and I won't have to worry about them again. He walked me through each step of the process, made me feel totally comfortable with what he was proposing and doing, and was in touch with me every day of the actual work. His estimate was very reasonable compared with other companies and, in my opinion, delivered more. Just as important was how he handled me as a customer. He took as much time as I needed to discuss the plan with me, he educated me on the work/process, and you can tell he cared about my overall satisfaction. I would DEFINITELY recommend him!

We hired Morrison & Sons Landscaping, LLC of 1946 Middlebrooke Dr. Canton, Georgia to correct…read morea drainage problem in our yard after removing some of the trees. Mr. Morrison proposed sodding and pinestrawing the area as well as cleaning out two existing swales to manage excess water flow. We asked that his crew also trim bushes and perform general yard clean up and maintenance. We agreed upon a set cost for the entire project. After admitting he underestimated and charging us for additional materials he stopped with the work only partially completed. He sodded about 34 of the area specified on his drawing. He left several areas of completely bare dirt, no sod or pinestraw. The crew was supposed to clean out our dry creek bed. They weed whacked it and walked away, leaving piles if detritus to block any future run off. You decide if you think this is a job well-done. Personally, I don't. When we approached him about the incomplete job his response was unpleasant and unprofessional. In fact it was blatantly rude. He referred to our concerns as "ridiculous". He refused to fulfill the contract as drawn for the agreed upon amount. While the owner of the business was difficult, the two men who did the actual labor were polite and hard working. I will never hire this company again. I would not recommend Morrison & Sons Landscaping, LLC. DCILM contracted to replace my front steps, veneer on the landing and associated railing at a cost…read moreof several thousand dollars. The railing replacement went well - unfortunately the masonry work was problematic. Issues included: Failure to keep scheduled appointments with Client; failure to advise Client regarding delays for scheduled appointments, poor subcontractor selection (characterized by their failure to return to finish the original job); failure to supervise subcontractor activities; failure to manage the construction schedule; failure to come to the job site when scheduled and communicated to Client; failure to keep the Client apprised of delays and corrective action; lack of responsiveness to Client inquiries (telephonic or via email); improper selection of materials (brick and mortar); damage to landscaping during construction; failure to correct damaged / buried sprinkler heads post-construction; improper installation of brick with respect to step pitch resulting in water accumulation, algae growth, and creation of a safety hazard; improper installation of brick on facings; improper mortar mixing resulting in fracturing of installed mortar and unacceptable time to "complete" job (over three months). These failings have resulted in a significant safety hazard and are the proximate cause of a subsequent rebuild. The quality of brickwork was / is unacceptable, was recognized as such by the owner and I received repeated assurances that steps would be taken to "make it right". I worked with the owner of DCILM for over a year to address structural, safety and aesthetic issues with the rebuild of my front steps to no avail. As a result, I must now rebuild the previously paid-for project. The overall experience was extremely poor, ranking among the worst contractor performances I have been a party to over 40+ years and 10+ homes. DCILM is competent in general irrigation matters and limited installation of sod. I do not recommend them for services beyond those core competencies based upon my experience and I will not consider using them again for any service.

In my opinion, I would avoid this company. We chose them because they were the lowest bid, and now…read moredeeply regret our decision. First, we solicited bids last Fall ('16). We had a second baby due on Christmas and were hoping for the project to be complete before the baby came. Upgrade assured us this would not be a problem and promised to have the job finished by December 31, 2016. However, work did not commence until February '17. The project included (in part) installation of raised beds, grading, sod preparation, and formation of an area to install a children's playscape. During the bid process, Upgrade came out to review the backyard and we discussed our general plan. Upgrade recommended that they install a woven fabric weed barrier in the playscape section, to be covered with cedar mulch. Within this section is a gorgeous, one-of-a-kind dogwood. This dogwood serves as the centerpiece of the backyard and is supposed to offer shade for the play area. However, just recently, the dogwood's leaves started turning brown. It is clear that the dogwood is dying. I did some research online and it appears that these woven weed barriers apparently destroy the soil (oxygen depletion, etc.). We had no idea, as we totally relied on the apparent expertise of Upgrade. We are doing all we can to save the tree, but it might be too late. In my opinion, a landscape contractor would (or should) know the damage of a weed barrier installed all around a tree. They did not and it has been awful. At this point, we are not confident that Upgrade would fix this problem. Why? Because there are multiple other problems that were addressed but never fixed (i.e. all talk, no action). We notified Upgrade of these glaring defects and the owner, Chris, came out. Chris confirmed the problems and explained that the project supervisor had committed many errors in the past, committed errors on our job, and had since been terminated by Upgrade. Chris confirmed that the grade work conducted by Upgrade was defective and leading to water running into the garage foundation. He promised to remedy this defect. I called on multiple occasions to see about this issue. Nothing happened. I also notified Chris that Upgrade had transferred a significant amount of clay and rocks from one side of the yard to the other side (as part of building the retaining wall). Upgrade promised to remove this rock and clay (or cover it with proper soil) at a later date so we could lay sod. As part of the bid process, Upgrade gave us a quote for sod installation. However, they never returned any inquiries about performing this part of the job and left part of the yard untenable for sod installation. During his visit, Chris admitted that the soil was unacceptable and promised to fix this defect. Nothing was fixed. We also hired Upgrade to select and install an irrigation system for a series of raised garden beds and turf zones. The nozzles were wrongly installed in the grass/turf section, leading to the water being sprayed over the fence into neighbors yards. The initial garden irrigation lines were woefully insufficient and did not provide adequate coverage for the garden plants. In addition, we also hired Upgrade to install a RainBird control panel. However, the RainBird was not wired and did not function. Chris confirmed and admitted these mistakes and promised to remedy these defects. It took weeks for Upgrade to return, but to their credit, they eventually came back to wire the RainBird, fix the turf nozzles, and attempted to fix the garden irrigation lines. Unfortunately, the garden lines repeatedly disconnected at the connections, leaving the lines to just blast water directly into the air. Bottom line: Upgrade (and owner Chris) were professional enough to come out and see the problems in person. But this took WEEKS and multiple requests. And when they finally came back to repair some of the defects, those repairs fell short. Yes they wired the RainBird, yes they fixed the nozzles, and yes they attempted to fix the garden irrigation. But they failed to remedy the more significant problems (grade, untenable soil). They promised that they would return to remedy the problems. That did not happen. I have zero confidence that any further conversations with Upgrade would result in them fixing the problems that the owner himself admitted and promised to fix. They refused to come fix problems that the owner promised to fix himself - I can't see how this dogwood issue would be any different. Thus, at this point, I simply wanted to convey my experience and opinions and caution potential customers of using this company.

I want to give a review for Sarros Landscaping. Phil and his team totally transformed my current…read moreyard into the dream yard we didn't even know was possible. First, we had a nice backyard, but we had a yard that sloped to the house that never grew grass very well and always suffered with some drainage issues. Phil recommended and put in a paver potio that included great looking stones, firepit and pergola to give it character and style. I cannot say how much we love this patio. We cook down there with our grills/smokers, we have weekend fires in the fire pit for s'mores and cooking, and we love to just sit and relax as we hear the birds and watch the kids play on this transformed area. Second, we bought the house for the yard in the past for the trees and adventure, but our kids wanted grass to run/play. This is where Phil recommended putting in a retaining wall and leveling or backyard (with appropriate grade for drainage) to put a beautiful grass filled yard. This involved lots of prep, grading, tree removal and planning but the results are amazing. Phil not only put in zoysia grass and planned plants, replants, and beds all around my house, but had the new sprinkler systems put in to help water the investment. Phil also put grass all around the house and even put in yard lights (which I have always wanted) to shine on the house and tree canopy's which makes things look so great at night. Phil even helped me put in a tree swing between two trees since we had to take out a dying tree that we previously had a swing on. Third, and most importantly, Phil is great to work with... I am an engineer so I am detailed and I want to discuss things regularly. Phil ALWAYS had the time to talk, plan, and make sure that we were lock step in what we were doing with the yard and what the expectations were from both parties. Lastly, when the job is completed, Phil doesn't go away. He still welcomes calls to check on things, come look at the job and make sure things look right, and give advice on anything that his team has helped put in. When you invest in something that matters you want to give it to a person who is going to care about your investment as well and that is what Phil does. I have a high standard of how I want things to look when they are done at my house. Many times I do these things on my own because I can do it well. I have also learned to hire people who are qualified to do excellent work because I know I won't regret it for the years to come when I look at that investment over the years.
