This was our connecting airport en route to London Heathrow and we were hungry. We had plenty of time before connecting and wanted a comfortable roomy place and Milestones filled that need. I went with the prime burger which was cooked to my request medium and it included curly fries. I was actually impressed considering I was at the airport. Service from the staff was friendly and efficient. I'd return here again or recommend Milestones. BTW the shrimp stir fry was impressive and contained lots of shrimp. read more

Two of us wandered around the international terminal at YVR. This terminal at YVR has a lack of options in terms of food, especially non-fast food options. We ended up here around 11:30am, and there plenty of seats. We shared a spicy Thai chicken wrap (carrots, lettuce, chicken, onions, basmati rice, sauce, "peanuts"), served with a choice of French fries or side salad. We chose the latter, and our dish came out split onto two plates. How convenient! The wrapped contained more rice of all the other ingredients. The sauce was slighty sweet and spicy. Compared to other Yelpers, I had a pretty good experience at the yvr Milestones. The food was pretty good. I just had a cheeseburger and it tasted fatty and delicious. I asked for yam fries but got normal, though. The salmon/rice entrée was enjoyed by the two people at our table who had it. The service was fairly slow... but not necessarily rude. It felt pretty friendly, it's just that we ended up waiting a bit more than I would have liked. It is still one of the best places to get food at YVR, so check it out. read more

I have to concur on the service here - sure, it was relatively friendly but by god was it ever slow! Seriously, you're an airport restaurant and most people do not arrive 4 hours early (like we did, for some reason...) Thank god we had extra time because none of the staff were in any sort of a hurry here, and most of the time I had to flag people down harrrrrd to get served. It was about half full, so not even crazy busy. Whyyy Prices are exorbitant. I expected them to be more because, ya know, airport, but $10 for a pint of CANADIAN? No, thank you. Where's the craft beer? Bah. I ordered the breakfast burrito and Boyfriend got a chopped salad (shove it, gender stereotypes!) Despite the delay for food and drinks to arrive, they weren't bad. The burrito was chock-full of avocado, which was a pleasant surprise - avocado is typically stingily distributed. It wasn't particularly flavourful so I asked for hot sauce - there was no choice, and a bottle of tabasco arrived on the table (sad face), but at least it livened it up a bit. My biggest issue with the burrito was lack of texture - it was very monotonous and would have been improved even with some crispy onions or something to change it up. Boyfriend's salad was quite tasty though. Expensive, terrible service, and okish food. One of the only places to get a beer when you're waiting to fly, so that's pretty much the only reason I'd go back, to be honest. read more

Mealtime flights are kind of a bummer, especially when you haven't planned ahead. Lucky for us we arrived early to say cheers to summer solstice with a beer and an appy before boarding. Milestones has very little going for it. First, it's in an airport. Second, it's Milestones (home of the left-under-the-heat-lamp salad). And third, I'm thinking that their trademark service training didn't make it as far southwest as YVR. Ah, an empty vastness welcomed us at this location in the WestJet wing of the domestic terminal. After seating ourselves at the huge window, the view is grande! we waited while servers chatted amongst themselves and ignored us. Awkward considering there were just rows of empty tables between us and them. Still being ignored, we took matters into our own hands and walked up to the bar for a menu. After our drinks were served, we realized they weren't going to come serve us at all, and so, we walked back up to the bar with our food order. Food was what we expected, a lacklustre offering from a meh menu. The whole time I yearned to be in the Air Canada wing with Rice Tales, Vera's and Bread Garden nearby. Thank goodness I had the foresight to grab the bill and pay before our meals even arrived. Our server never did come back, although we did see her as we left. Turns out she wasn't even in the restaurant. What this teaches me? Be better food prepared before a flight in order to avoid doing this ever again. read more

Full disclosure: I'm not a fan of Milestones... But when you're in an airport with strict options being offered of a Starbucks, Carls Jr, or this place, sometimes your hand is forced and you make the best of the situation. And technically this place also isn't even a Milestones, but a "Palomino Bar & Grill by Milestones". But look at the positives: -this is the only place with TV's once you make it through security (it was a Sunday and there was football on, so this was a huge plus while waiting for our delayed flight to leave) -it's the only place with alcohol (yes, you'll be paying over $10 a pint, but at least its available) -proper menu of brunch and dinner options We had the breakfast tacos and a chopped salad. Both were pretty pleasing and better quality than most of my previous airport restaurant dining experiences. I'm not going to tell you this is a great place to go, but given the options, it was nice to have and I'd do it again. read more

Giving this place a bad review might be something like criticizing a thalidomide kid for having a bad throwing arm, but at least the restaurant has a chance to improve. And it really needs to. While the service was acceptable only because the waitress smiled occasionally, the food was terrible, the decor was predictably bland and the layout ill-conceived. I ordered the Traditional Milestone's breakfast. The scrambled eggs were 'ok' given that it's pretty hard to screw up eggs that style, but the toast was stale, the potatoes were lukewarm and chewy, and the double smoked bacon was doubleplusungood. This is a tough one to rate. Compared to other Milestone's, service-wise, it's one of the worst. Every time I've been here, I don't understand how slow the servers are considering it's never even 1/3 full! But of the places to eat here, especially on the International side, then I take this over food court food any day. Another complaint is the lack of space for your luggage; compared to Monk's Grill, which seems overly spacious, you really have to make sure no one trips over. P.S. did anyone see the Global segment of a YVR employee who used his phone to video-record a few rats running through here like a circus party, in the past year? read more

After getting our 7:15am flight delayed 12 hours to 4:50pm then again to 6:45pm, we were given $15 food vouchers each so we decided to grab a bite at milestones before our flight which just so happens to be beside our gate. The service was slow but only because it was busy, nothing to fault the server on. The food was good. I really enjoyed the spinach and artichoke dip and I order this every milestones that I go. They definitely make r the right way here and we devoured it. We also ordered the ahi tuna tacos- not so impressive. There was nothing special about it and it had too much citrus making it kind of overpowering. The entire bottom of my tortilla was drenched and was soaking in a pool of what I assumed to be lemon juice. It wasn't that memorable. I don't think it was worth $16 but good thing we got it for free because of the voucher. read more

I'm writing this review while eating Subway in the food court. To preface, I haven't slept in 30 hours, I've been on a bus, two trains, and just got off a 5-hour flight. Milestone's looked like a godsend after wandering around the terminal with shoulders aching from my heavy bags. I haven't had a real meal since lunch, two days ago. Milestone's looked like a place I could get a good meal, a drink (probably more) after the worst plane flight I've ever had, and have a comfortable seat without a stranger breathing on me. I waited for the hostess to clean off some menus, and then the host or a waiter ran over to tell her I had to sit at the bar. I pleaded for a comfortable seat in the half-empty restaurant, but she insisted. My stomach growled and I followed her to the bar, deflated, not looking forward to a bar stool and resting my feet on my carry-on bag on the floor. Then she tried to seat me WITH a stranger at an odd tiny bar/table hybrid projection thing. I looked around at the half-empty restaurant, again, flat-out refused and walked off. If I'd wanted to eat over-priced food in an uncomfortable seat with a stranger's elbow in my side, I'd have bought the $9 crackers on the plane. Milestone's, you are in the -hospitality- industry. Really a waste of time and money. I'm sat here right now and the service is shockingly slow, if they were any slower I'd think it was closed. I'm sure the table staff are on some kind of suppressant as with just 3 tables to manage between 3 of them it's taken 20 mins to get 2 drinks. Asked how long the food will be, 5-10 mins was the given answer yet 30 more minutes pass by before a shockingly poor Prime Rib Dip arrives forlorn and tasteless at the table. Rarely do I leave without tipping, yet this deserves less than zero. It's one star because I can't leave anything less... Next time I fly through YVR, I'll eat my fingernails instead. read more

Worst experience ever! I had 40 minutes to eat before getting on a flight (came straight from work and had to skip lunch break to be able to leave early). The sign said 'seat yourself', so I did! About 5 minutes later, when nobody even looked my way, I flagged someone down and asked for a menu. She brought it to me, and left, never to return again. I flagged someone else down, and asked if I could get an iced tea. She said 'let me find your server'. She didn't. Finally, someone asked if I had been helped. I said no. She asked who seat me. I said it said 'seat yourself'. She said "No it didn't!" The guy behind me turned around and said "Yes, it did". She went and fixed the sign (but didn't get me a drink). Finally, nearly fifteen minutes in, someone asked me for my order. She apologized and said that her manager had sent half the staff home for wearing 'improper shoes'. It took another ten to get my iced tea... and I finally asked her to get my food packed up so I could catch my flight. She then asked me to pay my bill, even though I wouldn't get my food for another while. Rude! No apologies, no remorse, they acted as though I was the bad guy! Flight are stressful enough, I didn't need this on top of it! The manager came over to put my debit through, and didn't say a word to me. No 'thank-you' or 'sorry' or 'how was everything' like most restaurants. Maybe you shouldn't have sent HALF YOUR STAFF home. read more

The people are rude and they don't accept the milestone gift cards. That made the start of our vacation off to a bad start. Had we known we would have eating before the airport or before entering the security zone. This sour experience makes it very likely I will not consider any future milestones period. read more

I agree with some of the other comments that this place was stupid expensive, but knowing that Air Canada would have me wait for my supper, it was the best option. First of all, there's a sign that tells you to wait to be seated, but no one was seating any of the customers, despite the small queue that was building up and the half empty restaurant. I decided to take matters in my own hands and sat myself down at the bar. When I was finally served, I asked what beer was available and if there was Pilsner, to which the waitress answered no, but then found, once she looked. Then I ordered food-the fish tacos. They were so delicious, though the fried avocado was a bit yuk. Still they left a good taste and warm and fuzzy feeling in my tummy, though that could have been the Pilsner (I had 2). For all that, $32+tip. Not the cheapest snack I had in either Seattle or Vancouver, but as we waited for the food on the plane to come along, I was grateful for it... read more

Unless you are really hungry, I would avoid this place. I had the breakfast (Traditional with scrambled eggs and bacon). It wasn't great and was kind of cold but not horrible. Not worth the 13$ for breakfast and coffee though. For an airport restaurant, this was particularly bad service. The server was grumpy and kept forgetting everything.... more hotsauce, more coffee. After a disappointing Seafood Fettucini at Pier 73, I stumbled onto Milestones in the international terminal of Vancouver airport and decided to benchmark their Seafood Fettucini. Milestones nailed it in comparison. The shrimp were crisp and perfectly cooked, and the salmon was moist and delicious. The surprise was the spiciness of the sauce that warmed the pallet and left a wonderful flavour behind. Overall, this was a very enjoyable dish, and at $17 compared to $24 at Pier 73--a relative bargain. read more

I'm rating this without a frame of reference for what the chain's other locations are like, and as a person who most frequently travels through New York and around Asia. The verdict? Thank god I'm sitting in front of a fresh looking salad and a flavorful tomato basil soup. Pretty decent for the first good meal I'm having in almost 20 hours, as I'm now on my second layover. I wouldn't judge a restaurant on a soup and a salad otherwise but for these two things, and for an airport restaurant, they did ok. Worth mentioning also is that the staff has been amazingly sweet. They have a no cart policy but found a way to seat me by a rail so i could keep watch of my cart on the other side, were attentive throughout and proactively whipped up an iced coffee for me when i realized it wasn't on the menu. Eat at the food court. Skip this milestones. I made the mistake of trying this milestones at yvr at my wife's choosing. I thought I'd give it a try but man was it a mistake. Service was quick, staff was friendly. Food is horrible. Cajun seafood fettuccine had good amount of seafood but was bland and not well seasoned. Grilled chicken salad with peanut dressing was sad and disappointing. Badly chopped lettuce, wilted microgreens, dry chicken. These guys are nowhere in the league of cactus or earls. Pretty decent airport bar. We were seated promptly and our waiter was very friendly and checked on us regularly. No complaints here. There's also a good enough selection of beers and other beverages; if you're looking for a cocktail to lift you spirits, try their original Bellini :) Food was so-so, and a bit expensive, but I guess the prices are in line with other airport restaurants. The yam fritters make a nice snack but avoid the calamari, these were too mushy and bland. Fish tacos were both good and bad on different points, I actually liked the deep fried avocado though I would prefer if it were served fresh instead. Simply put Milestones at YVR sucks the big one! It is absolutely horrible and nothing like it's counterparts all over the city. Robson St location is probably crying in it's coffee right now or at least covering their eyes in shame. Honestly I have seen more in 2 days of eating there then I ever thought possible. With Christmas season/New Years wrapping up we had the last 2 relatives here on a layover to Shanghai so needless to say we had our meals there both Sun & Monday. Being elderly they stayed right at the Fairmont hotel in the airport so Milestones seemed the logical place to eat. Boy was that a mistake. The most noticeable lack of customer service and downright indifference amongst the staff was immediately apparent. Although the menu was the same as Robson the food sure wasn't. Zero taste! Breakfast was cold after we waited 40 minutes for it in a half-empty restaurant. The server refused to walk over to the other side of the table and just handed dishes over and reached over with juices/coffee while elderly people had forks in their mouth. We asked once at the half-hr mark if breakfast was ever coming and she said it's coming and walked away. At dinner things didn't get much better. Their thai-chicken wrap, one of their noted dishes had no peanut sauce and was terribly dry. I could go on but I think you get the message when I say "Who cooked this crap?" The server brought the bill without asking if anyone wanted coffee or dessert. When we told him we were thinking about dessert, he walked away before anyone could even answer. It was pretty embarrassing in front of godparents we hadn't seen for 4 years. The funny thing was when one of them said what ever happened to friendliness and customer service? Worst airport restaurant I've ever been to. They don't seem to understand they are located inside an airport where people need to keep to a time schedule and catch flights. People working here seem to think slow service is standard. There was a line up of at least 10 parties waiting to be seated at empty tables scattered all around the restaurant. When I asked the hostess why no one is getting seated her response was "my manager told me not to seat anyone because the kitchen is busy"...THE KITCHEN IS ALWAYS BUSY AT AN AIRPORT RESTAURANT. Only after two other people complained did she roll her eyes and drag her ass slowly over to the manager who I guess gave her permission to seat people. Absolutely ridiculous. She seated a few of us and went back to wiping menus...poorly managed, slow service, unfriendly staff. Basically a shit hole place to eat at and they are the only sit down restaurant in the international side. NEVER eating here again, I would rather suffer through the stomach aches from fried chicken or fast food A&W than give my money to this Milestone location. read more

I've probably already written a review for this place but it's so hit and miss here that each time I come here it's a different experience. And when I say different I mean different "bad". One caveat: I know they are ridiculously understaffed and I often see only three people working with a crowd that all want to come in and out quickly. But when you seat yourself and no one comes to you for ten minutes and you're left staring at a dirty table? It almost makes me miss airplane food. I never thought I'd say that. read more

Wow, what a great breakfast. We were here ahead of schedule (zipped through security), so we had time for a nice sit down breakfast. The server was absolutely delightful and attentive without hovering. We enjoyed some great banter together, which helped start a good day. If you are travelling Westjet out of Vancouver, you can get a beer that is better than the other side as they have Milstone's brews on tap not that Molson's swill you find everywhere else, the burgers are filling and cheap for an airport, another reason to fly Westjet. read more

I mean really - my aches were soothed by the Fatburger and my flight was delayed three hours - I receive a voucher for $10 for dinner - where else would i go except Milestones once i breeze through security ? I'm told as i enter that food is taking a bit this evening, no biggie it's on Air Canada anyhow :) My hopes start to fall when the table next to me is given food and the server walks off and when the customer asks for cutlery, as none was provided to begin with, from a passing server she indicates that she'll send THEIR server over - lol !! I casually edge my cutlery under my menu, I'm a dick like that. So i settle on the starter California salad and the soup of the day, tomato ! Imagine my shock when ten minutes later it hits my table - hurrah ! It was just as tasty as a regular restaurant and faster and it was also practically free so what do i have to complain about ? Nuthin' thats what. Now the table next to me - well I'd imagine they have a different song to sing. read more

The bacon was overcooked but the eggs and potatoes were okay. I paid almost twenty dollars (US $$) for it. Their service was okay but you can tell that they judge by a person's appearance. read more
