The restaurant dining area is fairly typical looking - similar to Cactus Club, Joey's and Browns. Nice enough and well kept, but nothing outstanding. We tried the following items from the Happy Hour menu: - Smashed Avocado Dip: OK. The dip itself was much spicier than expected, so my wife couldn't eat it. The tortilla chips were good, but found the taro chips not so good. - Miso Tuna Crispy Rice: Good. My favourite dishes of the night. Like a regular sushi, but using crispy rice gives it nicer texture and flavour. - Steak Frites: OK. Steak was the right doneness, but not the best quality. Fries were average, and greens were limp. Service was OK. Our server did the minimum, and nothing more. A lot of the staff seemed to be chatting among themselves, instead of providing better attention to their customers. It took awhile to get plate cleared and get our bill. Overall it was OK. We went for Happy Hour to get better value, and we got that. We came here during Happy hour after 9pm. The ambience is warm, modern, and relaxing We tried the calamari and shrimp, and they were very tender and not overcooked. The dish came with a tamarind-style dipping sauce that added a nice sweet-and-tangy twist. I went to moxies in Richmond to meet up with family and we had lunch there. Just remember to give your car licence plate number to the hostess. We sat in a both that 6 people can sit comfortably where we had 5 of us. The menu was varied and of course it was dine out time. They had a luncheon menu for dine out if you wanted. To the food. I had the Thai cashew chicken as it is one of my favourite dishes. It was very good and the right size as an appetizer. The down fall was the cashews were finely chop which I was not expecting. I wanted them not to be finely chopped but that is a personal preference. When my meal came and I asked for chop sticks which were brought to me right away. The second dish ordered was the cashew lettuce wraps. Very good but again the cashews were finely chopped. The next dish was the mango chicken. It was flavourful and presented nicely. It came with red beets which was not our taste and not expected. The last dish was the avocado chicken Cobb salad. There was plenty and had everything in it that a Cobb salad has and it was very good also. The place was clean and fresh looking. I haven't been to Moxie's in a long while and it used to be one of my favorite places for gatherings. I went recently for an anniversary and was amazed by the lack of service they had considering that they're an established restaurant chain. Firstly, aside from providing a high chair for my toddler, they did not provide anything else. I've been to other smaller restaurants and things such as children utensils, bibs, drawing paper, etc., were provided. Good thing i was prepared. The steak and Frites from the HH menu was over cooked. We asked for medium rare and it was close to a well done. Didn't see no pink parts inside and as a result it was quite hard and chewy. After delivering the food, the server didn't even ask whether we needed anything such as black pepper for my clam chowder. She was then MIA for the rest of our meal. It also appeared that she was the only server when it was quite busy on a Saturday afternoon? Throughout the meal, I waved my hand a couple of times and no one came. I don't know whether the staff lacked customer training or what but they did not bother looking around the restaurant to see who needs help. I ended up getting my own napkins from the washroom. When it was time to pay, the server couldn't be waved down so i told the hostess for the bill. Waited 15 minutes and no bill came so i told the hostess again. She was surprised the bill didn't come so she went to tell the server again. Waited another 10 minutes and i was fed up so I went up to the hostess and asked to pay right now up front. She responded oh i already told the server. After waiting another 5 minutes the server finally came and gave me the bill. An awesome laid back spot for casual eats! They currently have a $5 expresso martini deal so RUN don't walk! Our server was very patient with us and super helpful with describing the menu. I got the mini ahi tuna tacos, and yes they were incredibly fun sized. The tuna was amazing quality and I don't know what it is about the sauce they use but it was delicious. We came here because it was attached to the hotel we were staying at and open late. We lucked out as they have a reverse happy hour that goes from 9pm-close (or 2-5pm). They had tons of items on the happy hour menu and you can order from it in the restaurant, not just at the bar. We were seated immediately at a nice booth and our server was friendly. I got the steak frites, which on the happy hour menu and it was good. I was starving too so that probably made it taste that much better even though it was slightly overcooked. The chimichurri sauce was excellent and the fries were thick and perfectly cooked though. I tried some of the chicken alfredo and that was a grest meal with lots of moist chicken. 3.5 stars ! There is a high emphasis on Customer Service. We are here 2 days in a row and both times the servers were friendly & attentive but not overbearing. Unfortunately, both times we did have a slight issue. But both times it was corrected and they were happy to do. First Night we ordered the guacamole to share. I had the chicken potstickers my husband had a burger. The guacamole wasn't quite right. It was a weird color and made with avocados That's were not ripe enough or Something. We showed her and she agreed it looked off. She offered to replace it with another one, but instead we decided to get a dessert which was the same price. We had the brownie with caramel sauce ice cream and whipped cream. It was delicious. My chicken lettuce wraps were good, however it was a bit too saucy, which made the crispy noodles a bit too soggy. This place is nice by the hotel! Clean, spacious, polite attendants and servers. It was not crazy busy for a friday night. Sat at the bar and there's plenty of chairs. Found and watched the game I was looking for Canucks-Oilers! I ordered a cheeseburger, fries, and a Stella. Decent price, about $20 for the burger, its fresh off the grill, crispy veggies as u can see in the pic, hot bread. It was perfect and not sloppily made! The fries is ok. A little soft. I like it slightly golden crispy, like in McDonalds, but its not a deal breaker. I didnt have to ask for ketchup, there was a serving with it. Love that theres enough napkins. The service was great, all the team members were super friendly and helpful. Where did i go wrong you ask? I ordered the ramen. I knew in my heart of hearts that the ramen probably wouldn't be great. But, I was craving it, so i made the call and ordered it anyway. How bad was it? The ramen was chewy, the boiled eggs were cold in the middle and looked like they were dropped straight in from the fridge as they didn't have time to absorb any of the miso soup base. The pork belly was overcooked and hard. Since this was my first experience dinning there, will likely be my last. With so many good places to eat in the area, there are better options. read more

For Saturday brunch time, the restaurant was quite quiet. A nice break from the hustle and bustle from my usual brunch place (WhiteSpot). The dinning room is very roomy and comfortable. First time trying Moxie's and it was a good experience. My partner goes to Moxies often for special occasions and unfortunately noted that the salmon portion they give you for the salad has gotten smaller. However, the salad was pretty good and aside from salmon portion, I have no complaints. We both loved their Tiny Tuna Tacos and would have ordered more to have it as a dinner dish instead! We also ordered their Bacon Cheeseburger which was okay - nothing special about it that stood out to us. Moving onto the drink... We tried their Skinny Mango Margarita as recommended by the waiter hoping it would be on the sweeter side, but was dead wrong. We had to ask the waitress 3 times to add more sweetness to it (my partner likes sweet drinks) which she ended up telling us she'll have the bartender make another one in a tall glass instead (I guess to add more mango juice). But to top it all off, our order was wrong and we had to send it back, plus we got charged an 18% gratuity because there were 8 of us for all of this. I was invited to return and took the opportunity to support Moxie's takeout this past week under the new Covid restrictions. I ordered a rare new york steak which was ready for pick up right on time. When I returned home I realized the steak was close to well-done. I called immediately to let them know; the team member very quickly apologized and asked if I'd be able to return for a replacement. I live nearby so that was not a problem. After ~10 minutes of waiting at Moxie's I was home again with a heftier bag of food. I must say the second order looked like a presentable full meal vs the previous order which for whatever reason looked like the mashed potatoes were half eaten and had two sad quarter brussel sprouts but I digress... Mashed potatoes were delicious and buttery, and the brussel sprouts cooked well. The new steak was the correct temperature, tasted okay but way too tough. So unfortunately I was only able to eat a few bites and composted the rest. 2.5/5 NY 4/5 mash potatoes 5/5 white chocolate brownie Overall service was great but once again the main dish was subpar. read more

first time in a looong time and i just discovered as well that this location is their test kitchen... nice clean restaurant. very sleek and cozy. dim lights and dark stained wood sitting booths. servers very attentive and helpful... ordered the tuna poke & calamari to start, then the fish tacos, prawn spaghettini, and half rack of ribs, plus the rustic italian pizza on the end ( forgot to take a pict) lol. anyhow, the tuna poke tasted reslly nice and fresh with generous servings of avocado. the fried black nori that came with it, i dont understand why it was fried, as it killed the nori taste and texture. but the dipping sauce that came with it was great. the calamari was probably the best dish...uniformed cuts and each one so tender and juicy. no tentacles included, just prime cuts of squid. the dish even came with some fried shrimp which were plump. also included 2 kinda of dipping sauces. yum! only complaint, there wasnt too much of it. the fish tacos were so so. for some reason there were not coated in a crispy batter of any sort. next, came with beans and lots of grated radish which kinda gave you a raw texture. maybe its just me, but beans with fish in a taco is not my thing. eating the beans with the fish just killed all textures and gabe you a mushy mix in your mouth. the ribs were great. fall of the bone and charred well. it was grilled enough to give you that bbq taste and aroma. sauce was just right. not smothered on too much. the fries were not that great. clearly fried from frozen and not given enough time in fryer. outside was crispy but inside was soggy and soft. the italian pizza was a misnomer. sure there was pepperoni and prosciutto, but what did pulled rib meat have to do with an italian rustic pizza. good pizza is sometimes best kept simple. not only that, but the absence mozzarella cheese was noticeable. although, there were shaved parmesan on top which was a good touch. it was a bit spicy without warning on the menu. the crust was think and crispy and good. no fresh basil or herbs to be considered rustic italian pizza. tasted more like an american made pizza. the prawn spaghettini was the surprise of the night. it came with a real half lobster tail. what a treat indeed. he prawns were cooked properly but the tomato sauce was a complete failure. it was very watery and the entire dish not seasoned well. no olive oil to give the pasta dish more body and the noodles more bounce. again, lack of fresh herbs to make the dish earthy and taste fresh. overall, i would go back and try their steaks. looks like depending. on what you order, could be a hit or miss. im willing to give them a other try. the service here really stands out i should mention again. i felt so welcomed and attended to. the entrance was also very nice with a glowing "hello" sign! cheers! happy eating! for mothers day....i thought i'd give them another try....took my mom there for her special day. we had the open faced steak sandwich, the ribs again ( so good), and the chicken pasta special fr moms day. personally, i tried the steak frites with the chimichuri sauce with a side of baked potato with mashed potato inside with cream cheese and topped with bacon! yes, you read it right about the baked potato. everything was sooo good. only the pasta shouldve had more chicken. the steak frites blew me away...perfectly cooked and seasoned. the chimichuri sauce was perfect for it. it balanced out the meat really well. the baked potato, well ive never had it like this, it was amazing. texture was like creamy mash 2.0. the cream cheese added a good touch of tartness. very creative in my opinion. lastly, the open faced steak sandwich was great as well. i was expecting a tough cut but no...it was tender and grilled just right. good size too. the sauce and spices all blended together to create a perfect steak sandwich. wow! 4 stars for this experience!!! read more

This review is only for room service and food during quarantine. The estimated time for delivery is 30-45 minutes. Many times it was well within that time frame, even so the food was cold on several occasions (eg my cheese was not gooey in my omelet-it was hard and cold and toast was so hard it was actually inedible.). From reading the reviews I understand it is a test kitchen which would explain the fruit and baguette left off order. The food itself is only average, at best. This is not a place I would choose to come for a meal. read more

Staff clearly hate their jobs. Front of house acted like it was a huge imposition to bring me out ketchup packets for our kid, when the ones I requested weren't in the bag.
