    Chicken & Biscoff Waffles

Milk & Honey is a Southern Brunch Chain in the DMV. This location is a relatively new restaurant. There's plenty of free parking in the lot in the complex. There's also both indoor and outdoor seating, and the ambiance can be described as classy/casual. It's a good spot to catch up with a friend or for a first date. The service was immaculate. Our server and the manager checked in on us constantly, it was evident that they wanted us to have a good experience. The honey latte was delicious; it was sweet, balanced with cinnamon, and the coffee wasn't too bitter. The fried green tomatoes were a bit expensive, but were battered nicely and paired well with the spinach, sauce and corn on top. The biscoff waffle was okay. The chicken could've been seasoned more, there could've been more biscoff flavor and the waffle was average. However, I didn't really mind since the vibe and service were really good! I'd recommend trying this place at least once because the Instagram ads really hyped it up.

Grand opening day! I was officially the first customer to give them a run today! I ordered à la cart just to try a few different items...and every single item was delicious! To start, I had the biscuits served with a peach jam and sweet potato butter on the side. While both offered a refreshing spin, the sweet potato butter was top notch! The biscuits were super soft, large, and baked to perfection. In addition, I ordered the greens, cheese grits (with a side of Cajun sauce, coffee, and sweet tea. I had a ton of left overs with a total bill of $27 (not including the tip). I thought the pricing was good, and they were very attentive. I'm sure this being day one came with a ton of lessons learned, so kudos to the team for keeping it together! They had a great music playlist going with all the TVs on different channels. You want music? They have you covered! You want to check out sporting highlights? Got you covered as well! Everything was clean and in order. No obvious mistakes from my POV. However, if you visit in the near future, they may need to work out issues as they arise...so give them a little grace! Note: They open at 9AM and close at either 9PM or 10PM (depending on the day of visit). If I had to offer some opportunities here is what I would suggest: 1. Coffee refills: consider bringing the pot to the table to refill vs taking the cup back to refill it. While this did not bother me, some customers may prefer their cup not leave their line of sight. Overall, Emily took care of me and I would 1000% return! Welcome to the neighborhood team!

This is the old Social House location. I loved Social House, and when my neighbor recommended I try this place, I had to check it out! The food here is some of the best in the South Riding area -- especially if you love brunch or breakfast! The fried green tomatoes are a must for an appetizer. Honestly one of the best things I've eaten. The chicken and waffles are highlighted by beautifully fried chicken... my only wish is that the waffles were served on top or on the side so they don't get soggy. The shrimp and grits are rich and well-flavored -- just not my cup of tea since I'm not big on cheesy grits. But the flavors are genuinely intriguing. They have a great kids menu for $9 -- kids pick two items from the list. And you get $5 off when you sign up for the Thompson Table Rewards program. Whitley was an amazing server -- her recommendations were spot on. Leave her a big tip!

We decided to stop in and have brunch before heading to King Spa. This place is super cute and offers indoor and outdoor seating. It was a beautiful day so we sat outside. Our server Rene (sp) was very friendly and gave some great recommendations. We decided on fried deviled eggs and fried green tomatoes as our appetizer. We went with fish and grits, shrimp and grits as our entrees, and a cherry blossom martini as our cocktail. Everything was great from the food down the service, I would definitely recommend:)

Went on a Friday for lunch and it was amazing. Loved the taste of the southern food, the ambiance was beautiful and presentation was spot on. All the food came out in beautiful bright plates & bowls. I went with a bunch of friends and ordered the pan seared salmon on grits and it was perfect. The salmon was well made and the grits were creamy and smooth. They added 2 cherry tomatoes, a lemon and some microgreens for garnishing. The portion size was generous. For dessert I had the peach cobbler which came with some berries, whipped cream and powdered sugar and it was divine. Not to sweet just the way I like it. I haven't tried but have heard the biscuits are also amazing. This place is a go to for Southern food. Definitely would recommend checking it out.

Tried this new location and had a few apps- wings were crunchy but sauce was a bit too sweet, would have preferred normal deviled eggs over fried deviled eggs, kind of odd. My friend got a fried fish platter and I had the blackened salmon BLT sandwich. It was good but nothing special and could have used more seasoning. The fries weren't hot or fresh either The best thing probably was the side of collard greens. Service was good and everyone was super friendly.

Came here really excited because the food looked really good (and was good) but the overall experience was honestly beyond frustrating. The layout is terrible at the entrance. It gets completely bombarded with people waiting because there's no actual waiting area. Everyone is crammed together while people keep trying to push through to get inside, even though there's literally nowhere to move out of the way. It felt chaotic and uncomfortable the entire time. The hostess situation also is extremely inefficient. The hostess was also bussing tables, so every time she seated someone she would be gone for another 5+ minutes doing other duties before coming back up front. Because of that, reservations honestly didn't seem to matter much since people were still waiting forever to be seated despite tables being available. Service overall was extremely slow, which I'm guessing is due to the high demand, staff constantly running between indoor and outdoor areas, and just not enough workers in general for a high volume weekend brunch time. Side note: The fried green tomatoes were also way overhyped. The dish felt overly complicated instead of complementing the dish, and it kind of ruined it. :( Fried chicken is really good though but sad there's no chicken breast! We asked for our check and 15 minutes went by after making eye contact several times at our waitress again across the restaurant as she's talking to other staff, taking drinks to other tables, and took the order of the table across from us with 10+ people. She did not come back so we had to get the manager. We believed the check needed to be printed but no. It's on the device staff use to put in the orders and have on them constantly. We were shocked when the manager took care of us in less than a minute and then complimented his help.

The food was on point when I came here for brunch. Did the traditional egg and bacon with 3 sides of mimosas. Started with the deviled eggs and excellent presentation. My servers were quick, attentitive, and made great recommendations. This is my new Sunday brunch

One of the highlights of the night was meeting the owner, Jason. We bonded over our shared Cantonese backgrounds and even got to meet his aunt, who was visiting from California and happened to be sitting next to us. It made the whole experience feel incredibly welcoming and personal. We ordered the Dynamite Roll, which was a solid choice with 8 generous pieces, and the Szechuan spicy wontons, which were juicy with just the right amount of heat. If you visit, definitely grab a seat at the bar. The bartenders are friendly, engaging, and really add to the experience. We were treated to a complimentary shot of Jäger with Jason and even got to sample their Lychee Pearl cocktail because the bartender had made an extra. The cocktails really stood out. Instead of masking everything with sugary juices, they use extracts and creative techniques to build balanced drinks that complement the flavors beautifully. Jason also mentioned that their cocktail specials change every month, so we already told him we'll be back regularly to see what new creations he comes up with.

The table had been set with crisp white tablecloths and centerpieces, the first indication that this was going to be a special event, and as our evening progressed, we were not disappointed! Pete Maxwell served us several courses that began with the best tomato basil bisque I've ever had, prepared with locally-sourced heirloom tomatoes. Then came ahi tuna on microgreens served with a horseradish-based cream sauce. It was served family style, with Pete accommodating some of our group's request for more well-done portions. An heirloom tomato and burrata salad was fresh and delicious. I don't typically choose lamb, but the entree of a lamb ribeye and a little lamb lollipop in a bed of autumn squash puree, served with roasted heirloom carrots (strip steak for the non-lamb eaters) had both a beautiful presentation and just the right seasoning and I was pleasantly surprised. A miniature, warm pumpkin muffin was served before a unique dessert of vanilla ice cream served inside a roasted squash bowl. We brought and enjoyed our own wines, including a wine that paired well with the desserts. This is not the type of dinner we would have expected to be offered at The Grille, but every person raved about the experience and we look forward to doing it again soon.

It was by no means packed, there were a few tables empty the duration of our meal as people ate and left. But the service was INCREDIBLY slow. They sent out an amuse-bouche which was nice- bacon and pimento in a little wonton cup. Our appetizers came out more than 30 minutes later. We ordered our son's kid's meal first, before we ordered our apps, but it came out after our entree's which was closer to 7:15. I assume the kid's meal coming out late was an awful server mistake, I can't imagine it would take over an hour to make a burger and fry up some potatoes. The chef was nice enough to let us order the octopus from the tasting menu (it was the only reason we came here, didn't realize it was part of the tasting). I almost did order the 5 course tasting menu, because it looked really good- but I'm so thankful I didn't. The table behind us was seated before us and by the time we left he was only on his third course. I'm also always cold but it was really warm in the restaurant. Not sure if their ac was broken or if it couldn't keep up with the weather. Not knocking the restaurant for this, things happen. But they probably could've used another few fans. We were the one table in the middle so the air wasn't getting to us. Not knocking the restaurant at all for this, it's a hot hot summer and things like this happen. The kid's meal portion was huge, actually bigger than my gnocchi order. We also ordered the brussels, pork ribs, seared tuna, tagliatelle, branzino, and pork chop. The pork chop was the most memorable thing. Based on this experience we wouldn't come back here on our own. We wouldn't rule it out though- if someone wanted to go here with us for any reason, we would consider giving it another shot.

My wife ordered the Pork Belly Benedict, which offered tender-crisp, thick slices of braised pork belly atop soft, buttery focaccia and coated with well poached eggs and creamy hollandaise. We both highly enjoyed my Broadlands Breakfast Sandwich, a clever take on a standard bacon, egg, and cheese breakfast sandwich swapping crispy, perfectly sweet French toast for standard bread. The breakfast potatoes served alongside were crispy on the outside with fluffy interiors and good seasoning. Our friends enjoyed their sandwiches as well. As the name alludes, the drink program is strong and offers something for everyone. In addition to wine and whisky, a solid selection of both cocktails and draft beers are available. Prices for both food and drinks were quite reasonable given the quality of what we received. I do dock a star for just so-so service. I would recommend a reservation because with rain outside aka the patio being closed, the whole inside was packed. A lot of the seats are super close which feels very European but you can hear most peoples conversations which can be annoying. Our waitress was really sweet and stopped by a bunch. We started with French 75's, hot coffee, and an espresso martini. The drinks were refreshing and quite large for the price. The espresso martini really reminded me of a grown up hot chocolate, I really enjoyed it. I later also got a cucumber vodka martini and it was one of the most refreshing drinks I've ever had - definitely the drink of the summer. For our food we started with the baked brie with fig and garlic and the escargot. The brie was a unique take on baked brie, I loved the way the flavors all melded and the fact the cheese wasn't completely spilling out everywhere. The escargot was soft with a phenomenal crumb/butter mix, the whole things really melded well and melted in your mouth. The bread served with it was nice as well, if only I had a bit more of it. For our mains we were here during brunch so we got the lobster omelet and the French onion soup with the side of fries. The french onion soup was great, a good amount of cheese and onions without being overwhelming. Fries were fantastic and quite large, a big portion for $7.
