Decided to have our St. Patrick's Day corned beef and cabbage meal at Mulligans. It was a great choice. The CB&C was fork tender and delicious. The carrots were sweet, accompanied by maybe not enough cabbage, and potatoes. But we didn't realize the meal was accompanied by a delightful creamed vegetable soup--I got an order to take home. We indulged in the very tasty crab dip with toasted bread, which my picky grandson loved as well as his cheesesteak sandwich. He couldn't stop talking about how tasty it was. The owner/chef comes by to chat, very friendly and asked us how we liked our meal. All the food was outstanding, but did take a little while. The server was attentive and very pleasant. As implied, the restaurant looks out on to a golf course; lots of windows to view the beautiful greens. It should be nice in the spring, summer and fall. read more

If you live in Penderbrook, they have some good event nights with special deals. They have good chicken wings !! If you're coming off the course, this could be a good opportunity to try some food, but it's simple pub food, nothing too special. First time visiting this restaurant while with a group. The covered patio was great with a heater that kept us warm. The bar was featuring drinks with Uncle Nearest whiskey and Green Tea punch was great! My fish and chips, although flavorful was a bit too salty. As always Donald and his staff continue to please. Stopped in for a bite to eat and was pleased as usual. Tonight I had the Oxford House sandwich, it was great! Grilled chicken with smokey bacon, lettuce, tomato with mayo on a toasted bun. The chicken was tender and juicy, I ordered a side salad in place of fries. The salad was well composed with cucumbers, tomato and cheese. Donald is always striving to make your dining experience a pleasant one, and he hits a home run! read more

The food from this place is delicious! We've gotten the crab legs to go a few times had brunch in the restaurant. The crab leg dinner comes with hush puppies, grilled corn on the cob and coleslaw. It is all so darn good! The crab legs are also seasoned with old bay. When we came here for brunch we got eggs benedict and mimosas and they were great. The food is fresh and the staff are all very friendly. The prices for the meals are very reasonable and the food is amazing. We went there Friday evening. There were several people at the bar and a young lady behind the the, what looked a buffet counter. I assume she was a wait staff. We sat down and Waited for over 15 minutes, she never stopped to ask anything. As I mentioned since she was behind the buffet table and it looked had a restaurant T-shirt . She was busy with her cell phone. After over 15 minutes of waiting. We left. We have been there many times and always had a good experience. I hope the owner reads this, we love going there, and he gets staff or install some kind of alert bells, so if he's in the back he can hear when customers enter the business. We ordered off their well rounded wine menu and shared their shrimp cocktail as an appetizer - seriously big shrimp! My friend enjoyed her Mediterranean wrap and my flatbread was one of the best I've had in a while. It was so fun to be able to completely customize my toppings. Had one day in the area and decided to play golf. Got a simple egg and cheese sandwich from Mulligans to start the day. Seriously the best I've had. Just plain good! Clearly made by someone who cares. Didn't even want to put hot sauce on it, which I normally would because of the excellent quality preparation! So naturally I had to try out lunch after the round and I wasn't disappointed! On suggestion got their Philly Cheesesteak with sweet potato fries. Just as good! Make that delicious. After a chilly round on the golf course yesterday, I ordered a great Saint Paddy's Day meal of corn beef (with special sauce), cabbage, carrots and potatoes from Mulligan's Pub on the Green right in the Penderbrook Golf clubhouse. I have to say it's the best corn beef I've ever had and large portions (is making at least 2 meals). My compliments to the Chef!! I meant to post this yesterday but didn't get to, so be sure and call the course today 703-385-3700 and see if they might have any of the specials left; it's well worth the trip! Where to start....had seen great reviews so was excited to try it out. Ordered takeout. On arrival was greeted by an unmasked cashier and told my order would be a few minutes. More like a half hour. This gave me plenty of time to observe the lack of Covid precautions. Masks if worn were around the neck. No social distancing Food was disappointing. Worst was hush puppies fried in burnt oil. Club sandwich was made with American cheese squares and bits of iceberg lettuce. Zero flavor. Fried fish and chips were tasteless. I would give it some leeway and try again as perhaps it was close to closing and should pick a better time but the lack of Covid compliance is unacceptable. I really should have left the second I saw that and that is my bad. read more

This pub is a hidden gem. What a great experience. The food is outstanding as is the service. They do everything from classic pub food to fine dining. The drinks and bar are great. They have live music on Friday nights and happy hour on Wednesday with a buffet. Seriously anything you could want is here, from cheeseburgers and crab cakes to prime rib and lobster (lobster with advanced notice). The owner Donald is a true chef and a really nice guy. He came out to speak with us and discuss the menu. Shout out to Ezra who really took care of us. This will definitely be a regular spot for us. read more

I couldn't have found a better place for a rehearsal dinner! Let me tell you that Donald and Millie saved the night. The original wedding plans were cancelled due to Covid but I still wanted to do the rehearsal dinner. I was going to have it at my house but my 88 year old mother was determined to come and I didn't feel comfortable with 40 people inside. I happened upon Mulligans Pub and I am so happy I did. We took over the beautiful outdoor patio and the inside, where we practiced for the ceremony. Donald took control he planned the menu, had plenty of staff, helped me unload my car and set up the table decorations. Donald told me I didn't have to worry because he had my back and he did! Donald, Millie and the staff were outstanding and the fajitas were delicious. I would not hesitate to recommend them for you private party needs or just lunch and dinner. Try the steak and cheese its delicious and don't forget to try one of his homemade shots (dangerous but so good)! Mulligans Pub is my new go to place! New owner, Donald, has worked hard to jump start this restaurant/pub again, and has done an excellent job-great sandwiches, steamed crab, shrimp and killer ribs on the weekends, really good pulled pork, excellent crab balls, great sweet potato fries, killer homemade fruit cobbler and a very nice brunch on Sundays, all very reasonably priced-I could go on and on. I was looking for a place to get some crab legs to celebrate my wedding anniversary. This place did not disappoint! I kept reading how it was a "hidden gem" and that is exactly how I would describe it. There was a wonderful patio with fans to keep cool and keeps bugs away and excellent live music. The staff were all friendly and very helpful. The food was fantastic. We had the shrimp cocktail and crab bites for starters. The remoulade was some of the best I ever tasted. Great kids menu also since we had our littles with us. My husband and I both ordered the crab legs. Generous portions with delicious hush puppies and coleslaw. Finished it off with some incredible peach cobbler and ice cream. When we mentioned it was our anniversary (16 years) they brought us some bubbly on the house! Chef Don came and chatted with us to make sure everything was good. He was super friendly and personable. Even the other patrons all seemed relaxed and happy. Cannot recommended this place enough! We will be back for their Wednesday night special. Buy two cocktails and get their Wednesday buffet for $5. Can't beat that!!! read more
