I was walking by on a Saturday night and I saw that they had a Cereal Milk Matcha Latte on the menu so I came in specifically for that. The service was fine, everyone was friendly. The space is small and doesn't really have any seating...made for grab and so as they only have some thin floating bar to stand at. I ordered a slide of the Birthday Cake, cup of the Cereal Milk Matcha Latte, and a chocolate chip cookie. I was told that the fresh chocolate chip cookies were out but they did have the packaged kind, which was fine for me. The matcha was much too sweet for my taste because the cereal milk overpowered the matcha. The slice of cake was ok, not as good as I remembered in the past but it has been a long time and it was also late in the day. I stopped by this little hole in the wall location and got the pumpkin coffee cake slice that I've been seeing all over instagram. Upon entry, I notice it was dimly lit, and really tight inside. There were 2 people ordering and then after I joined the line, two other people came inside and the store became packed. The girl at the counter was really friendly. The slice of cake itself was $11. It wasn't the biggest slice, but it was tasty. The pumpkin flavor really shined through and I get why it's really popular on social media. I haven't been to a milk bar in ages. I'm glad that this place is opened so late. I was searching for a spot that doesn't close when the clock strikes 9 or 10pm. I really wanted the strawberry shortcake cake truffles, but it's seasonal so couldn't get it. The new seasonal truffle that will come out so they said to wait for that one. However, I did get the make your own or build your own pint. Really cool what goes in it! It was tasty! I don't think you can go wrong with what goes in your own ice cream pint. I was exploring in Williamsburg and came across this cute ice cream/cookie shop and had to check it out! It wasn't busy at all so I was attended by a nice gentleman who let me sample both the Cereal Milk & Toasted Marshmallow ice cream before deciding which one I wanted. I chose the Toasted Marshmallow ice cream with torched mini marshmallows. What a yummy combo! If you're in NYC, it's something you should try, but I don't think I would actively seek it on the day to day. The cakes were very crumbly and the frosting was definitely on the sweeter side, which I was already anticipating. The birthday cake slice had small pieces of crunchy crumbs that I actually thought was a bit too much. The chocolate cake had chocolate chips within the cake and had the same frosting. Definitely need to try yourself to judge the flavors and I'm glad I got to try it but be prepared for some sweet cakes. Love Milk Bar products, been buying birthday cakes from them for years now. But just this past weekend, we ordered a dozen cookies to be delivered to a friend's house so we could enjoy them for dessert. We did not open the bag until we wanted to eat them and instead of 12 cookies, there were 8, but I was still charged for all 12. Their customer service system told me to call the store directly, which I had and have been doing again and again, but nobody ever picks up the phone and there's no voicemail system. So, since nobody seems interested in refunding the money they grabbed from me, then they'll never see another dollar from me again. Which is unfortunate, because we have enjoyed their products. I think my next step is to recoup the money from my bank so they don't see a single penny of it, because this is just trifling. read more

Glad to be able to get a warm baked cookie even during covid. The restaurant/seating area isn't open but you can order through the window. Within a few minutes you can have a warm treat handed to you through the glass. They sell a lot of their merchandise here too. The blueberry and white chocolate cookie wasn't my favorite. I've only had bad experiences here: 1. Someone got me a gift card here and it took them literally 15 minutes to figure out how to enter it into their system for me to use it. Then when I asked them how to check the balance they said they don't know 2. The interior looks really rundown. Behind the counter is a bunch of old industrial fridges. I get that interior design isn't everything, but it really feels like they put zero effort into the appearance of the place and it just looks sad 3. The products are really expensive for the size that you get 4. I've gotten cake here 3 times and every single time it was so dry - like cake you would get from the grocery store for $2 except this cost a lot more than that 5. Customer service is very slow. I went in last time and there were only 2 people in front of me but the person working the front desk was nowhere to be seen. I waited for 5 minutes then I just gave up and left and got some cake from Martha's down the street instead This just feels like one of those brands that put a ton of money into marketing but no money into the things that matter like ingredients, ambiance, good customer service. The woman who started all this had some Netflix show about her and she was obsessed with the idea of using unconventional ingredients in her desserts like corn flakes. Super fun idea but the execution has been horrible. And of course it's not the employees fault it's managements fault for not giving them adequate training. If I'm going to spend my hard earned money at least put in some effort. And I would get if these problems happened one time but they happened again and again on different occasions. Instead of this place I recommend Martha's if you want big cake slices and wide variety. I also recommend patisserie Tamoko. Now THAT is a place that cares about quality. I have been avoiding writing bad reviews lately but had to make an exception for Milk Bar. For years, I've avoided going there because their stuff has waaaay too much sugar. So much sugar that my tongue is raw after eating a couple of cookies or a slice of their "crack pie" (I believe it's been renamed?). But first and foremost, they do not participate in the neighborhood Halloween tradition of handing out candy or even a cookie?? Milk Bar has made quite a name for themselves, despite my own personal disappointment with their goods, so why be such a nincompoop with kids on Halloween??? Boooooo!!! (Not the scary kind, no pun intended). Also, the thought of eating corn flakes flavored milk had always wanted to make me vomit bc it seems like I'm eating the leftovers someone else's cereal (saliva included). Ew. Hopefully Milk Bar decides to join the fun this Halloween. They seem to be geared towards marketing for kids so seems like a no-brainer. Customer Service did reach out to make amends, and a new cake is on its way. My issue was never the quality of their products, as they are delicious, especially their gluten-free birthday cake. My problem was with the tone of their response. FedEx also contributed a huge bit to this experience because they did not follow directions. I also had birthday cake delivered to a friend during the pandemic and it made her day. I ordered "for a later time" and I think it confused the system as Caviar first brought her the wrong delivery but replaced it shortly after. I also used the Milk Bar website to order a tin of cookies for a friend who lost her parent and it brightened her day. And I also used the same website to order my sister out of state a Milk Bar sampler gift box for Mother's Day and she loved it. I didn't realize it was a mixture of perishable and non-perishable items, so she needed to be there for its arrival. It's all about the cake, pie and soft serve in my opinion.
