All of the descriptions from other reviewers are pretty much spot on. My review pertains mostly to Saturdays, though the same usual crowd and vibe can be found there on Wednesdays as well. My first time at Milk was in Dec 2008. I was visiting some old friends and this is where they took me. I had such a great time! I didn't know any people there at that time but I can honestly say that the overall vibe has not changed at all. I still love it. Since I moved here in Feb 2011, I have been going almost every Saturday. (I'd go every Wednesday too if I didn't have to work so early during the week.) I'm pretty much on that dance floor from start to finish. The music is so good that I can't stop dancing. Also, I first went there knowing no one and it was still fantastic. Now, it's even better because I've made a lot of friends there thanks to that great non-pretentious atmosphere. And it's also true - what the others have said about it not mattering what you look like or are dressed like. No dress codes at all. Creativity and individuality are encouraged but if you just want to show up in jeans and a tee, or even your pajamas, they'd still be cool with it. This place does not have a meat-market vibe at all either. It is very rare that you will see any overabundance of pda. On the rare occasion when I have seen it, it hasn't been from anyone that comes on a regular basis. The place is pretty classy, actually. Lots of fantastic dancers, the djs are awesome as are the bartenders and bouncers. A lot of really intelligent people also tend to frequent this place - lawyers, doctors, artists, and entrepreneurs of various sorts. Many people drive in from Boulder, CoSprings, and the surrounding areas just to come here. It's that awesome. Never a dull conversation, if you choose to have one. It is a dance club so the music is rather loud. There are two rooms. (Actually, there are three but one has no dj, just a pool table. It is off of the bar area in the Milk room.) The Milk room is the white and black polka dot room. That is usally more 80s/early 90s electro alternative and pop on Saturdays. The Jazz room is all black and tends to play darker and most industrial music from the 80s through present. All of the djs are fantastic. Tina (SlaveOne) and Roland are the resident djs every Wednesday. There are four regular weekend djs as well as guest djs. They're on a weekly rotation on weekends: Roland djs every Saturday in the Jazz room. In the Milk room... 1st Saturday is vinyl night. The djs spin actual records all night. Djs do vary on this night. usually it's one of the following: Mike Rich, Paul Italiano, Garth Geisler, or ON1X (Jared Tabb). 2nd Saturday djs: Tina (aka Slave1) and Randall. 3rd Saturday dj: Tina (aka Slave1) 4th Saturday dj: Randall (and sometimes he shares that booth with other guest djs) 5th Saturday dj: Mike Rich If there is a dj schedule change or other special event, it's usually posted on Milk's facebook page for Wednesdays and Saturdays: https://www.facebook.com/groups/213822188638633/ You can also find many photos and various promotions on that page. General admission rules: 21+ Free before 10pm, 5$ after. (Halloween, other holidays and special engagements usually have a 5$ cover all night) $1 PBR before 10pm. $2 after. $3 rail before 10pm. $4 after. Not sure what other drink specials there are so it's always good to ask the bartenders. There might be one for wine as well. Top shelf liquors are considerably more expensive. Contrary to what it says in the general info part at the top of the page, this club IS wheelchair accessible. The only stairs in this joint lead up to a smoking patio. Those with a wheelchair can easily use the back alley entrance instead. read more

So the bartender in the dark room on September 23rd, 2023 for dark wave night needs to be fired from the premises for his horrific treatment of my friends and I. So we went to the Milk Bar and went into the dark room to order some drinks. I had 2.5 Blood Suckers. My buddy had 1.5 Blood Suckers and the two women we were with each had a single Blood Sucker. I don't tip until after the full service typically and I tip extremely well. However, this asshole bartender was extremely rude to all of us. He was being passive aggressive all night and had a major attitude problem. He was also a complete creep to the women that we were with. He made a comment about one of their cleavages, told one of them she was sexy and then started talking about his past sexual experiences. The girls obviously felt very uncomfortable and my buddy and I told him to chill out and be cool. Later in the evening he started being weird again and we told him he should really be more respectful. Without skipping a beat, this guy gets on his walkie talky and calls security on me and the guy friend I was with giving the excuse that we were horribly intoxicated and needed to be removed and then turned around and told us we weren't tipping enough. I told him he was going to get a decent tip before we left even though he was being an asshole. Security came and the bartender told the two women that they could stay but they flipped him off and told him to "go fuck himself" and left with us out the back door. So we were brutally harassed and kicked out by an employee. When we got kicked out. I turned back around and walked right back in to find a manager to place a formal complaint to and say goodbye to the other kind bartender in the other room. Immediately, security noticed me while I was saying goodbye to the other bartender and I told them I would like to place a formal complaint with the manager and they didn't listen to me and kicked me out again. Whoever runs this place needs to hire new staff because the employees are mostly assholes! I tried to file a complaint from home but there isn't a phone number listed for this business nor is there any complaint link on the website to complain about an employee at all. It's also something to note that I'm the lead guitarist of a semi popular goth rock band and because of this incident, I can guarantee you that we will never play at your club ever unless this situation is rectified and the bar tender is fired and we also have relations with bands like Twin Tribes, Seraphim Shock, etc all the way up to the popularity of bands like 45 Grave and even, yes, Robert Smith of The Cure. I can do detrimental things to your goth nights if this is not fixed. Figure it out Milk Bar!! read more

A bouncer threw out a trans women for using the bathroom 2 weeks ago. Today we rallied around to protest for her. The owner was there and laughed in our faces. I asked him if this was funny to him, he proceeded to laugh even harder and then said that it was actually hilarious. The bouncer that threw out this trans women was also there. He also was laughing and thought it was very funny. They need to take accountability. They are not Lqbtq friendly and clearly look at us as a joke. This is not a safe place. There are so many wonderful and friendly places here in Denver. Milk bar is not one of them. Please do not spend your hard earned cash here or support these bigots. read more

The bartender on the main bar sucks he spends more time away from the bar and talking to people. Three times tonight I have had to wait five to ten minutes for him to return to the bar and there are a bunch of people waiting for drinks then he always serves the people who got their last first as they seem like his friends or what ever. I ordered a redbull and he gave me a water. Worst bartender I ever had. The DJ's are the only reason this was not a one star. read more

This club has a great vibe. The DJ was awesome, the lighting was impressive, and the dance floor was packed without feeling too crowded. The staff were friendly and professional, which I appreciated. Drinks were a bit pricey, but that's common at most nightclubs. I had a good night with friends and would definitely return for another weekend outing. Sad to say this place is discriminatory towards trans folks. This was one of my tops spots until I heard they kicked people out for using bathrooms they felt most comfortable in. We live in a very LGBTQIA friendly city, this place needs to get their act together or shut it down. Google reviews will show you this is not a new occurrence either. Milk is easily the best place to hear alternative tracks. There is a very wide variety of genres represented - even relatively obscure ones like Synthwave and Witch House. And of course the goth/retro nights have been well-known in Denver for years. If you're there when the Green Room is active, drop in and order a drink from Derek, who's a really cool dude. read more

Expect to pay a ridiculous cover to get into a place with mediocre music and vibe. Friday night looked like a Tuesday night anywhere.
