I honestly was indecisive between the matcha choices and got the blueberry lavender matcha since it's more unique. Apparently the lavender is sourced from France. When I drank it I can immediately taste the strong lavender flavour. I couldn't really taste the blueberry or matcha though? I think it's also my personal preference but I couldn't finish this drink at all. The lavender was a bit strong for my taste. I should've went with a safer choice. I also got the coconut ube mochi waffle since I'm not from Denver. The taste are what I expected, coconut ube flavour. And there was a nice vanilla ice cream on top. Overall I think milk tea people is very aesthetic and they take the time to put quality in their food and drinks. Located in the heart of the city, is this quality tea spot that has their ingredients imported straight from Japan. When I was scrolling through Yelp, this place had great reviews, and I was ABSOLUTELY blown away. Wow, I finally tried Milk Tea People and it definitely deserves its 5 star rating! This is a gourmet Japanese tea shop unique to Denver. We were lucky enough to be served by the wonderful owner who provided a lot of recommendations. He sold us on our drinks and also convinced us to order an ube waffle with vanilla gelato, which was ube-good! Most of the tea drinks are iced milk tea and they have non-dairy milk as well (oat, soy). They have a blended milk tea too (think Frappuccino consistency). A very different take on milk tea than your regular boba shop and they also have mochi waffles that were the star of the show. We had an Ube sweet cream tea with the matcha wafchi. I'll say I've definitely never had such fresh ube puree in a drink like this before, the potato taste and graininess is still there which we liked a lot but may be a miss for some others. The matcha waffle comes with blueberries and lavender ice cream which was all delicious - the waffle is chewy, warm with crispy edges and not too sweet with a good amount of matcha flavor. The ice cream is fragrant, chewy and just overall a really nice texture and floral taste. We almost went for another one, but really had to hold ourselves back. Definitely wish we had a place like this back in Texas! Highly recommend. When I said I wanted to go get milk tea, someone said "Are you sure you want to get milk tea in Denver?" Coming from California, a place where there's a boba spot popping up around every corner, its pretty agreed upon that it doesn't get much better than what we already have. You can tell right off the bat that Milk Tea People was a very thoughtfully developed establishment, from the location of the store, its interior, the customer service, and of course, the drinks themselves. I'm a huge sucker for artisanal milk tea because the tea is always noticeably higher quality and the ingredients as well, clearly curated to achieve the best tastes. We stopped by here on the way home from a morning rafting by the river and it was such a satisfying refreshment. Drinks do take some time to be prepared but that's exactly to be expected. You can see them prepare the matcha and other parts of the drink right in front of you at the open space counter. There's plenty of open tables right outside the store where you can sit and wait for your drinks, and an employee will happily bring your drinks out to you when ready. Not a single person in my family had any complaints about their drinks. We were a bit taken aback after seeing the prices and our total after ordering, but realized soon after taking our first sips that the drinks were actually very well priced given their quality. There are a lot of Asian-style milk tea places in Denver, but none like Milk Tea People. Everything here is made by hand -- with only the highest-quality ingredients. Yes, even the matcha is hand-whisked in front of you! No artificial Thai tea powders here. Only loose leaf teas, ethically sourced directly from farmers (to give them 100% of the price), and almost entirely certified organic. You can still get that sweet Thai tea though! It's just brewed with real leaves. Add some oat milk to it, and it's my go-to here. The more creative flavors feature additions of ube (Filipino purple yam), matcha, strawberry (but more herbal tasting than sweet, blueberry lavender, black sesame, and more. Milk tea people is located in a fantastic and highly central area in downtown Denver. There's not much seating if any available at all in the boba shop but there's outdoor concrete slabs you can use as a table and chair. The establishment is clean, parking downtown is just parking downtown, the bathroom is clean (accessible by code on your receipt/ the owner can tell you it). The owner is very enthusiastic. I didn't know what to order when I first went so they gave me a run down of their menu, what's seasonal, and how he came about each flavor and what he does to procure each ingredient. I believe he said once in a while he just travels to Asia to gain inspiration for his menu. Milk tea people does have most of the classics available but you don't come here for those, they curate an interesting combination and make it their own. Not many places in the Denver metro area have quite the arrangement of flavors they do. The strawberry matcha is refreshing. The strawberry complements the matcha well. This drink was not super sugary which is a nice change of pace for a desserts place. Also the presentation of the drinks is great, I really did enjoy seeing the separation of colors before shaking the drink to mix it. The Ube woffchi was very hot even with the ice cream scoop on it.
