This dessert shop made me feel like I was in a jewelry store. Being surrounded by all sorts oo Middle Eastern sweets, I was like a little girl in a candy shop!! I'd heard of this store at least a few times in the past; I finally got a chance to pay my visit to it on a cold April day with light snow. Great day to have a little sweet treat to warm up?? LOL, indeed it was!! I wanted something that has/had chocolate in it. Unfortunately, unless the Turkish chocolate (you buy it in a large portion which I opted not to), all the chocolate Baklavas had almonds in them (I am allergic to almonds sad to say.) When I was patiently looking around, Creme Baklava caught my attention. "A ha!!" I couldn't think of anything else so I asked the kind lady to give me one of them. All baked goods are reasonably priced; my Creme Baklava was only $3 a piece. A few hours later when I was done with my errands, I finally took a bite of it and oh my heavens, this is/was probably the best Baklava I've eaten in the Denver area. Conveniently located right next to a Middle Eastern restaurant (Baghdad Mediterranean Grill), if you get a meal (lunch or dinner) there but want a little something to take care of your sweet tooth after a filling meal, simply go to Reem's Bakery to satisfy your craving. Reem's is our family's go to when we really want to spoil ourselves in absolute decadence. Decadent sweets, sold out of a charmingly decorated shop, where the service easily rivals the baklava in sweetness. There is just no other place like it in Denver and needs to be experienced to understand how uniquely charming this shop is. Oh, did I mention how attentive, informative, and patient the service is? A mistake I made early on was overlooking the more "basic" looking treats for the more elaborate ones. I loved the cream baklava the most, got 2 of those and they were incredible and not too sweet with the honey water. The owner is so sweet when we asked what her favorites are. OH MY GOODNESS! Why didn't I come across this confectionary sooner? BTW I think Confectionary is a better addition to the name Bakery. Because not only is she the queen of phyllo desserts, she's a master of chocolate. I enjoyed every single thing from this little shop, so much so that the next week, I paid $45 for a bar of Dubai chocolate using Uber Eats, just so I don't visit again in person and lose control and order one of each of everything. LOL. Needless to say, the Dubai chocolate is to-die-for. Having visited only once, I'm not sure at what quantity of ordering do they package it in the nice pink, gifting box? The first time I only ordered half a bar so it was just in a bag. The second time ordering a whole bar through delivery still didn't land me one of those pretty boxes. BTW, make sure you refrigerate the product as it will melt. (Sure don't mind it melting in my mouth, mmmmmm) Hubby lost control and got one of each of the Turkish Delights. While they were not bad (especially the gummy one with chopped up rose petals on the outside) the rest of the desserts are better. Ok Yelpies if I could give more than 5 stars I would! Unassuming from the outside and then you walk in.... OMG the pastries are stunning, like overwhelmingly gorgeous. The owner is wonderful and is as beautiful as her sweets and asked if we wanted samples.... I asked if anyone has ever told her no. So of course it was a yes and the pistachio baklava and cream baklava were gobbled up immediately. I'm telling you right now to add this to your "go get this NOW" list. Syrian baklava is a little less syrupy so it stays crisp longer and has a better balance of flavor that isn't just overpowered sweetness. Hands down, the best middle eastern bakery in the area! Their pastry case is filled to the brim and their baklava is delicious. Prices are a little high than your standard baked goods but its 10000 percent worth it! I've been watching people consume the viral Dubai bar online so I was delighted to learn Reem's Bakery was carrying them. The hubs and I found ourselves close by and decided today was the day. Aside from the chocolate bar, this is a beautiful pastry case filled with baklavas, pistachio fingers, macarons etc. I could easily have ordered one of everything. Showing a modicum of restraint, I left with only the Dubai chocolate bar and a small green pistachio finger. I actually liked the pistachio finger more than the chocolate bar. That's not to say the chocolate bar wasn't delicious - It absolutely was. It's a huge bar and the employee told me they are making the pistachio cream in house. They charged me differently from what's listed on their website, and when a friend called to confirm the price, they were quoted something else again. Stay aware! I originally went for the Viral Dubai chocolate bar which ended up being an explosion of flavors. Every single ingredient stood out: the knafeh (fried crunchy filo dough bits), pistachio and chocolate. Honestly I thought my eyes were going to roll into the back of my head it tasted that good. I was already there so I threw in a Nutella baklava which was also amazing. As a bonus the mother son duo ran the shop to a T. While their knafeh tastes good, the prices are way too high. 30 dollars for one plate of knafeh is not justified. The seating is limited to 2 people with the sun burning your face or back if you decide to eat their. No napkins. I also bought a box of baklava varieties but was disappointed; it was dry and there was a long hair in one piece unfortunately. SS is a hidden gem located south I25 on Colorado Blvd. They are a take out bakery with tons of baklava varieties. Baklawa is how they spell it here and gift boxes and custom cakes are available for purchase or you can pick and choose Al La carte. Price range is weighted from $15-$22 per pound. Pictures of each item is listed online. Knafeh pie starts at $16. Harisa (aka Namoura cake) is made of Somolina flour which is my favorite because the chew texture is hearty and gluten full. Gyrayba (shortbread cookies) topped with white chocolate is a close second favorite. Ma'amoul are cookies with fillings that I will try next time. Knafeh they didn't have individual pieces, you would have to buy the whole pie. It's a clotted cream cake with rose syrup. Life cannot be sweet without dessert. read more

Now, I was lucky that when I came in, Adam, the store owner was making fresh knaffe. If you've never had knaffe, you are MISSING out!! Adam's knaffe is sooooo delicious and it's best when warm. The bar looks huge, but it will be eaten quickly, and I'm glad I got the large size! Taking a tip from a previous review, I brought an insulated lunch bag with an ice block to transport the bar home that very warm day. I always come here for Kiki's and didn't realize Syrian Sweet was in the same shopping plaza. Initially I was looking for Middle Eastern dessert to bring with me when visiting my Egyptian friends... but ended up doing something different because they were closed on Sundays... but have been curious since I found this place on Yelp. Finally was in the area for some Kiki's food and saw that this was practically next door and got curious. Walked in and was greeted by some nice gentlemen... gave me some recommendation on some of their favorite.. I ended up getting some baklava but with various fillings - walnut, almonds, pistachios.... all amazing... there was also this little green ones that's pistachio based that the person helping mention it was their hottest selling items. It's the only thing in the case that was just super green all around. Get that, it was delicious... and surprisingly not super sweet on all the items I purchased. You know when it's a great dessert for an Asian when the compliment for the dessert is "oh wow, it's not too sweet"! LOL! I'll definitely be back to try other items next time. They also had pre-packaged items and coffee. It was really late in the afternoon so I skipped the coffee but I bet it'll be amazing paired with all their yummy food. Come get some! read more
