Came in with a friend for tea, and we only realized when we arrived that they were only a milk tea shop, not a milk tea and boba shop (which is not something I've really encountered before). We decided to try it anyway, and it was decent, but a bit pricey. Shop itself is very minimalist chic and clean--there's not really any seating indoors etc., so it seems like the expectation is that you are taking the tea to go or sitting outside, which isn't unreasonable. Everything really seems strictly styled to look like a minimalist magazine shot or something. The tea itself does seem to be of a reasonably high quality, but I feel it is obfuscated by the addition of so much milk, so it doesn't feel like you really experience everything you're paying for. I actually am unsure exactly what it was I ordered because it definitely came with quite a lot of milk... I want to say it was matcha and blueberry? I'm more of a tea person than a milk drinker, so that may be why it wasn't entirely to my taste, but if you're a big latte fan, this might be the place for you. This place is aggressively good as far as high quality milk tea goes!! It's not a long menu, but it is an exceptional menu. The ube jasmine sweet cream was my absolute FAV -- it was super sweet but clearly with a floral flavor which I LOVE. When I went back I really wanted to order it again but decided to try something else, so I got the hojicha vanilla sweet cream which the staff person recommended. She'd also recommended the black sesame jasmine cream but when I asked which was sweeter she said the hojicha so that's what I went with! It was lovely, but not as lovely as that ube jasmine sweet cream - I've never had a drink like it. The next time I come to Denver I am SO coming here for a drink. One of the highly recommended spots in Denver and I was so excited to try it. I can see why it is so popular, they hand whisk each matcha in front of you. Very minimalistic and clean. They have unique flavors which I loved seeing and all of their syrups are homemade. I ended up getting the orange blossom matcha latte and I did not regret it. It was absolutely delicious and refreshing. The matcha flavor didn't come through as much but I am not the one to complain. My wallet cried from how expensive two milk teas and a dessert were. Good news is that it was so delicious and well worth the money. The creaminess and sweetness of each of the drinks was perfect, no adjustment needed! The mochi waffle was also a nice touch to end the evening with. I had a hard time choosing, but ended up going with the Cinnamon Matcha Horchata- all the flavor profiles were complementary and clearly distinguishable. I tried Hojicha vanilla sweet cream for the first time and also loved it! the drinks were very good and the service was okay, although the person who took my order was not very friendly when I asked what her recommendations might be and it took a bit of time. They hand whisk all of the matcha and the ingredients taste very fresh so I understand why it takes a little long but they do have a good system. Got the blueberry lavender matcha. The lavender strongly overpowered all the other flavors of the drink, could barely detect any blueberry or matcha, it was akin to sipping a lavender perfume. I thought there was no parking available specifically for the businesses here, but I was wrong. The structure of this upscale area consists of housing (above) and shops & restaurants on the ground floor. Valet Parking is an option if you don't want to search for metered street parking. It is located on the left side of Blake Street, right before 16th Street. All the nearby streets are one way. I didn't use the valet, so I don't know what the cost is. After getting my car situated, I walked to Market Street about midway between 16th Street & 17th Street where an entrance to the complex is. I went along the corridor and found Milk Tea People. All the business fronts are concrete, glass, & metal. It was simple to find since it was about the only business open when I visited in Feb. of 2024. The interior has a minimalist look & feel. The only pops of color are from the green plants & merchandise. Otherwise, it's mostly just a stark white space. Inside, there are a few (stools) seats & no tables. You can find tables & chairs scattered along the Base Camp Market Station shopping area. The cool thing about this place is that you can watch them prepare your drink in front of you at the counter. They use Ceremonial Matcha. You can watch them whisk the matcha for each drink as needed. I got the Blueberry Lavender Matcha. It's a very pretty drink (for the pictures)! I really enjoyed the mix of fruitiness, floral note, and earthy matcha! A drink I'd order again! You can get a variety of drinks - Tea Lattes, Frescas, Crèmes, & Cheese Creams. I am visiting Denver from California and was in search of a sweet drink after lunch. Milk Tea People was the highest reviewed matcha spot in the area, so I thought I'd give it a try. I'm never one to complain about the price of drinks, especially if the quality is high and the taste is worth it, but 2 drinks for $20+ is absurd considering the way they tasted. We tried the Cinnamon Horchata Matcha and the Uji Matcha Latte with cream top. The cinnamon horchata matcha was completely overpowered with cinnamon flavor and absolutely no trace of matcha, while the Uji matcha latte was completely overpowered by...something I can't even put my finger on. The sweetener? The cream on top? I truly have no idea what it was, it was such an odd, sweet flavor that was so unpleasant. The cream top also wasn't your usual cream top.. it wasn't thick enough to simply sit on top of the drink so it almost immediately combined with the matcha which made it even milkier. We couldn't taste a trace of matcha in either drink which was so surprising considering how highly this spot is rated. After dinner at URBAN FARMER on Thursday, June 20, 2024, we walked over to MILK TEA PEOPLE for dessert. We arrived at 7 PM to a nearly empty shoppe. Upon arrival, Mom was immediately impressed by the modern, sleek and clean venue. The brightly lit space was so minimalist in décor that there were only about half a dozen cylinder stools for seating sans tables in the nearly bare room. The concrete wall panels, counter, and flooring allowed the colourful merchandise for sale to pop out through the pale grey environment. The menu on the day of our visit was short and sweet. Lots of interestingly unique offerings. To my surprise, no drink toppings were available. I guess that's consistent with their simple and minimal theme. It works well here. Below are the items that we ordered: Blueberry Lavender Matcha TEA LATTE ($7 each + $1 each for Oat Milk) - The lavender flavour really came through well and was not too strong. Both Mom and I ordered this cold drink and really enjoyed them. Matcha Chai Sweet Cream CRÉME ($7.50 + $1 for Oat Milk) - Alyssa said that her beverage was good. The drinks were great, but $1 upcharge for Oat Milk per drink is a bit steep. A heads-up on such upcharge would also have been nice. Two DESSERTS; Coconut Ube Wafchi with Coconut Flakes, Condensed Milk, and Vanilla Gelato [on the side] ($10 + extra $2 for the Vanilla Gelato) Matcha Wafchi with Blueberries, Condensed Milk, and Lavender Gelato [on the side] ($10 + extra $2 for the Lavender Gelato) Both of the Wafchis had a nice mochi chew. Had a 9 hour layover here and needed my matcha pick-me up. I decided to stop by after seeing the great reviews. I ordered the strawberry matcha, but found it a bit underwhelming compared to other matcha I've had in California. The amount of strawberry purée they add is a bit overwhelming, though I do appreciate that it's made with fresh strawberries rather than artificial jam. I had also considered ordering the regular uji matcha, but it's blended with jasmine tea here.
