Came here with friends on the Fourth. Service was fine. Nitro process was kitschy but cute. The strawberry sorbet (their only vegan option) was really sweet and one dimensional. Friends got dairy offerings: yes to soft serve, no to the waffle and sea salt caramel. Overall, I wouldn't plan an outing to come here, but if it were hot and you were in the mood for soft serve apparently they aren't bad. read more

First time visiting Milkcraft since my family and I were vacationing in Connecticut. My kids were amazed at the ice cream making right before their eyes! I was even impressed seeing the nitrogen. This was literally the smoothest, most delicious ice cream I've had in my life. The crafted ice cream and topping combinations are ingenious. Last but not least, the service was top notch. Orlando, the General Mgr. was super enthusiastic, extremely helpful when we were selecting our flavors and ensured that we enjoyed the whole experience. We stopped in here out of curiosity. My husband was trying to explain how they make ice cream so we went in to check it out and to get an up close observation. We smelled a very pleasing cinnamon smell on the sidewalk before going in and we thought it was from another place but upon entering we discovered it was their waffle cones. They are not like other waffle cones but they are fluffier and smell delicious. The process is "cool" and would be a great science lesson for a child or anyone for that matter. The process was so interesting that even though we were full we couldn't resist a try. We decided to get the toasted almond and it tasted just like a toasted almond ice cream treat (the kind that comes on a stick). I couldn't afford the calories so no waffle cone for me. This is a very new age style technique type of ice cream place I wanted to give it higher than a 3 star but for my personal ice cream taste I am not big on waffle ice cream they did not have too many choices in flavor for me to choose from plus their are a bit pricey for a very limited choice selection in flavor for me...They seem to draw a lot of people and I wish them nothing but success the girls were nice if you make a mistake in choice they not much of an option because it made to order read more

Definitely gimmicky. The line was SO long but I waited anyway: somehow the ice cream tasted like it had a bit too much salt which was weird. The actual waffle cone thing is pretty good but just wished it wasn't all so salty. Our ice cream preparer even topped my ice cream (which I ordered from the pre-fixed menu) with salt. Ek! If I go again, I would try a classic vanilla flavor with no salt on top...but I think I light just skip this place and head down to the other creameries in town. We tried their ice cream today for the first time and it is not worth ever going there again. We get there and couldn't read the menu due to the tiny illegible fonts, and on top of that what was said on the menu of what we could read wasn't what we were given. I ordered a maple bourbon breakfast and it said on the menu small batch Bourbon Barrel maple like okay so it's a syrup. What I received was vanilla ice cream with frosted flakes on it and a soggy bubble cone and that's it. I asked about maple syrup cuz that's what it said on the menu and the staff said well maybe it's infused with it. I looked on their website and NO it's not infused, it shows it on top like a drizzle. So their staff doesn't know the menu either. Which was sad since there was 4 of them all doing one job which to me is a waste, 1 on register, 1 on bubble cones, 1 scooping and 1 doing toppings. point being none of them knew anything but a one trick pony job. And for $11+ for ice cream, I can go get the cheapest vanilla at stop and shop, put frosted flakes on it and it would still be better and worth more than what their New Haven location gave me. read more

We ate at the hotel directly next door so we decided to give it a try. It was VERY loud and ordering took a good 15 minutes even though we only had two people in front of us. The girl that took our order was sweet and offered her recommendations. The ice cream was ok but the inside of this place was disgusting. I could not believe how filthy it was. Papers all over the place, chairs in disarray, every table with crumbs or sticky crap on them. It was awful. I guess I'd you take your ice cream and then eat outside, it's ok. read more

I was personally very annoyed by all the restrictions they have around what they can do with their options. This place doesn't allow mixing of options so trying to ask for two scoops of different flavors in a cup was a no-go. Then they also don't allow you to get two servings of soft-serve in a cup which i can't understand (I mean, what's so hard about piping more into a larger cup, which they have???) Ambiance-wise, this place gets VERY loud from all the machine noise. It's not pleasant at all, a torture to the ears. The ice cream was okay. I'm probably not going to come back. There's a famous ice cream place a block away that I frequent. What the frig? While the quality of the ice cream is good - who designed this franchise? There is zero noise protection. So while you are sitting there waiting for your (enormously overpriced) ice cream, you are treated to sounds akin to a dentist's drill, only 100 x louder. So to try and um mitigate that, the music is turned louder than the nitrogen machines. It was SO LOUD it literally hurt our ears. Where is management? Do they not hear the noise? This is a sure fail unless they change the set up so customers are protected from the noise. I'm sure the staff will suffer hearing loss. Whither OSCHA? read more

They were super nice to me when I asked them to walk me through the process as it was my first time. The staff is racist and thus I will never spend any money at this particular milk craft. Situation: Myself and my boyfriend went to the entrance where 2 young black men were already standing outside. We approached them and they said they had entered and but staff told them they needed to wait outside. We waited behind these two young men for about 10 minutes when a group of 3 white passing women (I say white passing because no I am unsure of their race) walked right in and got on the line (clearly ignoring all four of us). They were not told to get off the line because they never came back out. My boyfriend and I were confused because as we were waiting no one had exited the store. Then my boyfriend and I decide to enter the store and get on line and no one said anything to us either. Then the 2 young black men who were waiting outside at first enter and were basically yelled at by a girl with a nose ring for coming into the store. We weren't there to hear the first time staff told those 2 young boys to wait outside but based on this second time, I doubt it was nicely at all. You could really see the actual hurt on those boys faces it literally broke my heart. As someone in school to become a nurse practitioner I understand the need for proper covid restrictions but you can't use that as excuse to discriminate against people. The Covid restrictions/ protocol they have in place clearly doesn't apply to everyone and honestly the whole thing disgusted me to my core. Please, everyone stop giving racists your money. read more

Waffles cones are way too hot right from the waffle maker. My ice cream was all melted once I tried it. Great for the gram for milennials. Strict rules about having different ice creams. Definitely the next Krispy Kreme. Gonna be packed for a few months then off the the next fad. $$$$$ read more

I have to say that this place is so disappointing on many levels. We saw the place while passing by and decided to give it a try since how bad could ice cream really be? We got the bubble cone with chocolate ice cream and the salted caramel in a cup. Both ice cream were overly sweet and very rich if you're into that. The salted caramel was overly salty and sweet and not in any way delicious. One taste and it was more than enough. The waffle cone smelled delicious when you entered the store. It tasted chewy and pancake like. I wasn't a fan and we had a lot leftover. The whole place is just sticky and gross from countertops to floors to bathrooms. They could do a better job cleaning the place. They need better taste testers because I think this is the sweetest ice cream I've ever tasted. You'd be better off getting something from Dairy Queen or someplace where they just know ice cream. read more

The employees are nice and work hard but the experience was average. Ordered three separate one scoop ice creams and the bill was $15+ which I guess is about what ice cream costs these days at boutique type ice cream stores. The ice cream itself was good but nothing separated it from an Ashley's or Cold Stone or similar type place. The issues: 1) long waits because they are literally making the ice cream while you wait 2) running out of stuff (employees said it happens often enough) and 3) small portions. We were there on a Sunday night and more people left the line then waited for service... people got fed up with the wait and just left. We waited for over 20 minutes. And then they were out of waffle cones. My take: you can find equal quality ice cream stores with larger servings and lower prices in CT but not sure if that is possible in New Haven. Maybe this place is worth a try for you but be prepared to wait and the possibility they are out of stuff. One and done for us. read more

We were just here buying an ice cream. We have a four year old who needed the bathroom. She was denied the bathroom by the front desk counter person because according to her they have been closed since covid. This is an absolute lie since I have been here previously about three months ago and their bathrooms were open. I called the manager while I outside and informed him of the situation, he stated that the bathrooms are closed because they are using them as storage. I told him this is ridiculous as they have a restaurant full of customers without a working bathroom and that's what closets are for. Thank God I bought a Mojito across the street at Soul de Cuba Cafe and was able to use a working bathroom. Truly disappointing and ridiculous. read more

I was very disappointed that 4 of the 6 employees working yesterday wore their masks below their nose. Not exactly what I would call "serving safely" as the website indicates. Wait was 20 minutes and no social distancing was enforced. The ice cream was decent but was expecting much more after waiting for so long to order. Once we ordered and paid it took only a few minutes for our order. Discovered they had no balsamic for the strawberry ice cream as the girl is handing it to me. Not great customer service especially because she acted bothered that I wanted another flavor after discovering they couldn't compete my order. Wouldn't recommend this place to friends, especially because of the lax safety standards. Do not go here if you're expecting strict health standards. Not sure why this place doesn't have more 5 star reviews! Friendly staff, clean store, zero wait time to get our ice cream. Admittedly we went there on a Tuesday night so perhaps not at peak time, but we saw nothing but people receiving their ice cream promptly and enjoying it. The ice cream itself was great! The portions are huge! Maybe not the most complex flavor balance but rich and creamy and the caramel sea salt was delightful, and I am forever indebted to whomever thought to put popcorn on an ice cream concoction. Just tried this place out of curiosity....it had an appearance of some trendy over priced place that I would ordinarily avoid and I should have because that's just what I got. I ordered the bourbon vanilla and it was more than 5 dollars for a scoop. The ice cream was a sugar bomb...it was so cloyingly sweet that you couldn't even distinguish the flavor if it weren't for the bourbon....the texture is smooth but not creamy...kind of like dairy queen....and I felt like I was doing my body a real disservice by eating the whole large scoop not wanting to know the caloric value! First visit, first time I ever threw ice cream away after two bites. I mistakenly ordered a medium - any fit person trying to stay off statins cannot possibly conquer this size. Takes too long (50 minutes!), expensive ($24 for three 1-flavor ice creams, two of which were in the waffles and one in a cup), scoops are too large - I'd rather have a choice of a smaller size and pay less. No option to do half/half scoop to try more than one flavor. Taste - way way way too rich! Too much of a good thing. Waffles are pleasantly soft and warm, but pretty tasteless. Actually, that's probably a good thing, considering how sweet the ice cream is. My kids and I threw out most of ours. All our stomachs hurt a bit afterwards. Do not recommend. read more
