Absolutely wonderful experience at this hotel. From Bryan the front desk person with his welcoming personality to the hot soup available anytime. This place will be a permanent destination. The room was beautiful and the staff took extra steps to make every room extra special. The housekeeping staff is exemplary. Everyone there is gracious and professional yet kind. The morning breakfast that's complimentary is far from your basic continental breakfast. It's a feast. I'll include pictures but I feel they can't really express how great this destination is. It is walking distance to everywhere. I'll be back.

I would give this hotel more stars if I could! Our 2 night stay was wonderful. This hotel is amazing - do not let anyone deter you from booking here. Located right in the heart of lake geneva. We got the "gold suite". Room was clean, tons of towels, bathroom a good size. tub was huge! The little personal touches in the rooms are what did it for me. Shows they care, book a room you'll see what I mean. I'm very much a hotel snob & I admit it, this very much lived up to my standards. And the surrounding grounds of the hotel are gorgeous! Will def stay again! Highly recommend!

I was very disappointed with the Mill Creek Hotel. It is very run down. Don't ever go by the pictures you see online. It needs a major overhaul. The garage parking door is left open all night which I found a security issue. The front desk (if you can call it that) is a storage closet which all the doors are open so you can see everything. Not secured when I left my luggage all day. The hotel is run by a board of individual unit owners. Did not know that is the definition of a hotel. They tried to make it a romantic hotel by putting plastic roses and flowers all over including the bed. The place was clean and location was good. Free water, cookies and candy but way below my standards for that price. I tried to change to the Gran Geneva resort and Spa but they had a no refund policy. I even left a day early because I was sick but this no refund. The staff was very nice though.Nancy

The mansion was built in 1856, making it the first mansion in Lake Geneva. The estate has been completely redone but charming details were kept. Along with a mansion where you can book a room, Maxwell also includes beautiful gardens, lounges, outdoor fireplaces, a heated pool, croquet and bocce ball. There is also a separate area in the back with motel rooms. Like I said, I was there for a lil' drink. There's a bar inside the mansion (Apothecary Bar) with all kinds of medical and druggist paraphernalia, with the space being a tribute to Dr. Philip Maxwell. But it's the speakeasy, which is accessible outside in the front of the house, that you'll want to visit. Ask for the password inside the mansion, and they will let you into a dark, below-ground bar. It's all decorated in prohibitionist flyers, and even the bartenders are dressed up in period costumes. It's a really cool and unique bar in Lake Geneva.

Focusing the review on the apothecary bar. You need to know the password to get in the speakeasy. A few days after we visited the speakeasy, we went in to try the apothecary bar to get some food and drink. A friendly helpful bartender, explained all their creative cocktails, shared the pub food that they offered, and answered questions. We ordered a flatbread pizza and a spinach artichoke dip as well as a couple of cocktails. They served us at a table where we sat on a couch in a room just across the hall and were quite comfortable. There are other rooms where you can go - not much seating in the actual apothecary bar.

This is our second time here over the years. I doubt we will be back. So many things wrong here…read more 1) Our room for one night (lake view) was $396 with taxes and fees. For that price this better be a 4 star hotel - it isn't. 2) They put a $300 hold on our card for "incidentals". $300!!!! 3) We were told and given a card that said it's "bug" season and to keep all doors closed. Didn't matter, we never opened ours and there were bugs everywhere 4) The TV was ridiculously small, had a remote from 1980 the size of a brick, had no cable, and no app access to do anything with. Awful 5) The porch was dirty and parts of the molding were rotting away. Not like we went out due to the bug warning, but it was too filthy to contemplate sitting in. Very bare and boring. 6) The decor is all over the place. Black faucets for the sinks, chrome for the shower, satin nickel for doorknobs, and some ghastly gold rings for the ceiling lights from the 70s. Whomever did this must have used spare parts from somewhere else. No consistency at all. 7) The girl at the check in counter hated her job. Clearly evident. Even said the incidental hold was for if we destroy something. I'm 55 - what is this college? 8) Check in is a crazy 4pm. Checkout is 11am or $50/hour penalty. You're getting only 19 hours of time. 9) You don't so much as get a bottle of water in the room or a salt packet for the tub so bring your own. That $1 it would cost the hotel would be nice I'm sorry Geneva Inn - you're dated, old, and worthy of a 2 star hotel. Having a good view is not worth the cost here or your hidden fees.

I love that the room had a stovetop and full fridge so that we didn't have to eat out every night, especially when my young kids barely ever finish a meal. The kitchen was stocked with 1 pan, 1 large pot, 4 large plates, 4 small plates, 4 bowls, and some glasses. It was enough for us to get by for a couple days but I did have to run the tiny dishwasher once during our stay. I brought my own dishwasher pods but I saw they had 1 pack of detergent available. I forgot about the lack of oven and bought frozen pizza, so don't be like me! The arcade is way too overpriced. I came to realize that you're paying $10 for each Virtual reality ride. Most of the games cost a couple bucks each. It would be better if you could get a card that worked unlimited for an hour. I think between my husband and I re-upping our cards, we spent $500 at the arcade & bowling alley over 3 days. My kids did love the mini bowling lanes, but again at $6/player/ game, it added up quickly. I didn't feel that the room was that outdated. I loved the big whirlpool tub, but one of the jet covers would fly off any time we turned it on. All in all, I'd return but mostly because I want to go to the nearby Safari when it's open for summer.

For my daughter's last Spring Break trip before she graduates college we did a quick girls' getaway and I booked a one bedroom suite at the Cove. (We would have been fine in one of the studios but the one bedroom wasn't much more.) It was perfect! Much more roomy than a hotel and the location can't be beat. It's on Center Street in the heart of downtown and very walkable. Basically across the street from the lake! We didn't have to move our car very much which was super convenient. The unit had everything we needed from kitchen supplies to basic toiletries and we loved the large hottub next to the indoor pool. They also have an outdoor pool for the warmer months. The unit itself was spacious and we loved the big bathroom and jacuzzi tub! And a fireplace! Plenty of parking and Jennifer at the front desk was nice and very helpful. The only issue we had was that two of the three lamps in our living area didn't have working light bulbs. It made evenings dark. Seems like that's something that should be checked.
