This was only a couple hours away from home and the perfect quiet retreat. Our breakfast was left in our room at the start of our stay for the two mornings we would be there. We had everything we needed and checkin was all online so we didn't need to talk with anyone on our trip if we didn't want to, which was absolutely perfect for us on this trip. The staff was very friendly and attentive. We went the third week of September and luckily they still had their outdoor pool and activities going. Every other resort I been to, close their outdoor pool after Labor Day. The view was beautiful specially from their reception area. They didn't have any restaurants however their is a supper club restaurant within a 5mn walk and their sister property is within a 5mn drive and it has an amazing restaurant. They are lake front however is not for swimming but for fishing and boating, you can walk to the public beach entrance which is about a 7mn walk.

They are always available should you need anything. Most likely you won't need much because they have anticipated everything you could need and have done so with detail and care. We arrived later in the evening and they helped us find restaurants we could get delivery from since we were tired and didn't want to go out after the long drive. They greeted us with a complimentary brownie upon arrival. We slept well, much more comfortably than I usually do in hotels or stays away from home. You get a choice of many delicious breakfast items to choose from. They serve all kinds of food including vegan. They have their own veggie garden and use many homegrown veggies and herbs in their dishes. We had a tasty vegan frittata one morning and a tofu scramble the next. Served with vegan sausages, breakfast potatoes, fruit salad and unlimited coffee or tea. Other guests chose bacon, waffles, and eggs, etc. There's a Keurig machine, an ice maker and fresh water available 24/7 as well as a fridge with soft drinks. There is a gorgeous pool there! Unfortunately I forgot my swimsuit so we didn't try it but we will next time for sure. Other guests had a lot of enjoyment there. The grounds are lovely with gardens, seating areas and an outdoor fireplace. There's also a basketball hoop. Not only are the accommodations comfortable and homey, the owners are warm and friendly and we had wonderful conversations with them and fellow guests. We actually spent a couple hours lingering after breakfast because we all enjoyed the conversation so much! We admired their beautiful art on the walls as well. This is clearly more than a B&B for Karen and John, this is a dream come true and a definite passion project. They truly put their heart and soul into this property and it shows and is felt. We will definitely be back and will bring our kids as well. This place is a gem.

There are so many windows that reveal the lovely views nestled in this very private estate. So many places to sit on patios outside, too. It's from the 1800s and it's in amazing condition considering that age. If you don't want all that goes with staying in a cool historical building, get a room at the Hilton and call it a day. Okay, rant over. Now the good stuff. We stayed in the veranda suite for a long weekend and it was WONDERFUL. The room is lined almost entirely in bookcases with cool old books to be perused and enjoyed. Upon check-in the man who greeted us and provided our key was the sweetest of guys and the rest of the weekend we were left in peace. No intrusive keepers here! We were greeted by a small basket of fresh local apples when we arrived and while it's a small gesture, it was well appreciated (there was a rosy apple with pink flesh in the mix that I'm newly obsessed with). There was a coffee/tea station outside our room, wine glasses to be used at our leisure, silverware, fridges in the room and outside of it for our restaurant leftovers, and a wet bar in the room itself. Amenities were few but thoughtful. And honestly I appreciated not having a ton of unnecessary bells and whistles. Ultimate highlight besides the cool library vibe: THE VIEW. the room comes with its own private porch with table, chairs, and porch swing where you can look right out onto Lake Geneva. No buildings stand in the way. You're right there on the lake. Very romantic with a bottle of wine and the fall rain we had while visiting. Definitely a deal maker. Location! We were walking distance to everything good. You're mere steps away from the harbor, restaurants, and the downtown. We walked everywhere with ease. The keepers of the villa offer free parking, as well. No parking hassles at all!! The only things i didn't *love* about the place were the size of our shower (way too small, I bumped my elbows constantly) and there is a moderate amount of noise from people walking upstairs from you (old house floorboards, after all). That being said, what you get with the Inn far outweighs those minor inconveniences. I'd definitely stay here again.
