We spent a Sunday night here and were very pleased. Wonderful experience -- everything's included (a dram of sherry after dinner for example). Terry and Eve have paid a lot of attention to details, and we felt very well taken care of. Even the lowest-priced room was very nice. After deciding to do a day trip to Half moon bay we decided to make it an overnight trip instead!! We decided to stay because it looked like a really nice place. We are glad we did!! **Got upgraded to a room with a fire place and tub..... **Free soda, wine, beer, sparkling water in room **Brought up cheese and fruit tray to room **Dessert available *Hot tub ....private...you reserve the time you want. (Jets not the greatest BUT really warm, and relaxing **Breakfast......Yum! We chose to have ours delivered to our room.....champagne, coffee, tea, and the food was delish!! **The beds were very comfortable....the pillows were heavenly and the sheets were very soft. **Free wireless and movies to check out as well...... The gardens are beautiful and the all lit up at night. Did here dogs barking here and there but nothing to irritating. We loved our stay here and cannot wait to come back. My family and I had the pleasure of staying at the Mill Rose Inn on Halloween weekend and let me say that this inn was more than I expected. My husband and I were celebrating our 9th year anniversary along with our 6 year old daughter so we wanted a bigger room that can accommodate us. We chose the Renaissance room along with the romance package. When first entering the room, Terry, the owner, gave us a run down of the room and informed us of protocols around the inn. He was very thoughtful and asked us about our dietary needs for breakfast the next morning. He even left a note welcoming us to the inn and included our daughter's name which made her so happy! The room was clean and pretty--very spacious! It had natural sunlight seeping through when we arrived at 3 pm for check-in and a fireplace to cozy up the atmosphere. Terry had already prepared our bottle of champagne by chilling it along with champagne glasses (He also had extra white wine in the fridge for us as well with chilled wine glasses--so great!). We had the inn to ourselves that weekend so getting some time in for the jacuzzi was not an issue. The jacuzzi is located in the gazebo and is very private. We definitely enjoyed our time in there after having a great dinner at a local restaurant recommended by Terry. The next day, breakfast was served and boy oh boy was it delicious! You will not be disappointed. The orange banana smoothie was perfection. Our daughter loved this inn so much that she is already planning our next trip to Mill Rose! We had such a great experience there that we may make this our go-to spot every anniversary! Terry was absolutely amazing! Check in to check out was such a breeze. We cannot wait to return, next time we are going to extend our stay for a few more days. read more

After reading so many great reviews on this place, I was very excited to spend the 4th of July here. However, I was left completely disappointed. First, I called ahead to see if I can get some chocolate covered strawberries. Most bed and breakfasts have extras like these for their guests. The woman who owns the inn was rude on the phone and explained to me for 15 minutes how she would have to drive far away to buy her own strawberries and dipping sauce and what a hassle this would be for her. I was already skeptical given this phone conversation, but I already booked the room, so my boyfriend and I went anyway. We got one of the smaller rooms and were not at all happy. The inn was very stuffy, the room was tiny and right next to the reception, so we could hear every noise made by the innkeepers, including when they were arguing with each other?!?!. The male inkeeper was very strange as he explained everything about the room, including excessive things like this is the bathroom, toilet etc. After ranting and raving about his 5000 DVD collection, he showed us the tiniest TV I've ever seen (and also probably from the 15th Century) in our room. The only good part about the room was that it was clean. We could also hear the music he was listening to outside of the room, and he forgot some sort of alarm on when he left for the night, so we had to call him to come back and turn it off (after hearing it go off for a good 30 minutes). The breakfast also had a set menu, instead of a choice of things to eat, which I was not accustomed to and was not a fan of. The only part of the inn I actually enjoyed were the gardens, which were indeed very beautiful. The decor was too stuffy for my tastes and I couldn't believe the room we were given, seeing as the prices are so high. I would definitely not go back. In other bed and breakfasts I stayed in, I was made to feel welcome and the owners were genuinely nice. That was not my experience here. read more

Wow! My husband and I came here for a night away from the kids. This place is beautiful. We stayed in the Bourdeux Rose. It was tastyfully decorated. The king size bed and pillows were very comfortable. Breakfast top notch. Started with fresh fruit, champaign , Mexican hot cocoa, orange banana chilled drink, and then off to a unique egg dish with bacon and a fresh crossaint. Fantastic service. I could spend hours reading a book in the gardens. They also have a private jacuzzi to use. We fell asleep before getting to it but will definitely try it out on our next visit. read more

This place is incredibly charming. Our staying here was purely coincidental but we are so happy to have stumbled upon such a lovely place. The owner is very kind and hospitable and made sure we we had everything we needed and were comfortable the whole time. The beautiful flowers, lights, and decor are delightful, and the smell outside and in is heavenly. I do not exaggerate in any way saying this place is top notch. My husband and I would go back for the private and beautiful hot tub ALONE...Just sign your name in the reservation book to reserve your time slot and it's all yours! We wanted to visit San Francisco, and instead of staying there where it is extremely pricey I chose to stay at this charming bed and breakfast I found on the internet, which is about a half hour drive away. This was also our first experience with a bed and breakfast. Soooooo many things I loved about this place... We got excited when we heard a soft bark, then realized the owners had dogs who wander around. Their 3 very well behaved and beautiful poodles left me wanting one. The breakfasts were DELICIOUS, unique and unlike anything I've ever tasted before. I appreciated the owner asking if we had allergies (we do not) but thought of my highly allergic son and my wish for every restaurant to do just that. I loved the nearby beach; we got some beautiful pictures just as the sun was setting. I loved the extensive movie dvd collection made available to us and the GREAT recommendation (Temple Grandin, now one of my top 10 favorites of all time). I loved the delicious, readily available coffee and sweets table. The cleanliness. The bed that felt like sleeping on a cloud. The beauty of the flower gardens and beds. We got a great shot of a hummingbird at the bird bath. Champagne in the morning. The cheese and cracker plate. The surprise beers (and wine) in our fridge. Hubby LOVED that part and tasting different beers. All in all we agree we have to get back one day! So glad I found this charming little town and place. read more

My girlfriend and I stayed here for two nights and had the best experience of any places we have ever stayed. The couple who runs the place are fantastic and very knowledgeable of the area and recommended to some of the best food in the area. We stayed in the Briar Rose Room and it was extremely cozy. The bed was better than my own bed at home and the fire place added to the ambiance perfectly. They provide a small TV which is fine because the entire point of being there is to be away from it all. They provide a wide selection of DVDs that are perfect to fall asleep too. The view out our window was nothing fantastic but was still well worth the price. The two breakfast we were served were delicious and extremely satisfying. I recommend the Hot Chocolate, it was some of the best I've ever had. At night the place lights up like a Christmas Tree and makes for an extremely romantic hot tubbing session. On a side note they have two lovely poodles who are extremely well behaved and adorable and add a much more homey feel to the place. I know they provide wedding services but the place is a little small for any sort of wedding but is still great for a weekend away. read more

My wife and I spent two fabulous nights at this bed and breakfast. By far, it was better than anywhere we had stayed at before! The owners greeted us in a warm, friendly, professional manner. The garden areas were well tended and beautiful. The smell of roses filled the air as we walked around the grounds. We were kindly shown our room and were given details on all the amenities that were available. It was awesome! Everything from the gas fireplace to the clawfoot bathtub gave it that home away from home touch. After a warm arouma-therapy bath and a couple glasses of complimentary wine, I was ready to visit the desert buffett. I felt like a kid in a candy store. During our entire stay, I kept looking for some dirt that was missed by staff, and couldn't find any. Each morning we were served breakfast tailored to our diets in our room. The weather of course was fantastic, and we were able to walk to the beach each morning. I just can't say enough. My only regret is that we waited to check out the private spa area until our last night. It was so relaxing, we can't wait to go back. We just keep thinking about what a great time we had together, and how we were able to reconnect as friends. read more

This will probably be the longest and most detailed review you will ever read. But.. it will also be the most helpful and truthful account of an amazing bed and breakfast that you must go to! P.S. Good for all classes, we are not rich! My boyfriend and I are from Montana and decided to take a trip down the coast of the golden state of California. We hadn't booked a hotel or any place to stay for that night and figured we would end of having to stay in an overpriced motel. As we started to call up all the nearby lodgings we happened upon Mill Rose Inn. Eve was the one who answered the phone and she was so incredibly sweet and enthusiastic about us staying with them that we ourselves became excited and animated. When we arrived at the FREE Parking (located in the front, side and back of this picturesque Victorian home with Spanish composition) true to its name beautiful roses were located at every window,door,room, and corner of the building. However it was not stifling or overwhelming but relaxing and serves as a potent aphrodisiac. Upon entering the Inn Terry (husband of Eve, Sweetest couple, ever!) gave us the grand tour with one pleasant surprise after another. By the time he left us in in our luxurious room after getting our drink and breakfast orders for the beautiful breakfast to come, we were both in shock at their hospitality. Terry made us restaurant reservations for a lovely Italian restaurant a few blocks away called "It's Italia. When we returned to the B and B later in the evening we enjoyed a Jacuzzi soak in their private gazebo that is included in your stay. Everything was like a fairy-tale and felt unreal when I woke up. Breakfast was delicious and elegant. We were first served tea and coffee and fruit plates then we were given bananas and orange juice smoothies and champagne with our main course. My boyfriend took about a billion pictures that hopefully we can post when we return home. I recommend this place to everyone! If you happen to be in the Half Moon Bay area make sure to stop by the elegant and competitively priced Mill Rose Inn. read more

I made an appointment, for my Fiance and I to look at Mill Rose Inn. The day before the appointment, Eve, called me to confirm for the next day. What turned me off about the whole thing is, she asked all sorts of questions that I thought she should have saved for when we met face to face. And she kept going on and on about how she wants us to fall in love with Mill Rose first, and to not even talk about expenses. Excuse me here, but expenses are a HUGE factor in where we chose to have our wedding. If your venue is too much, we'll keep looking. Granted, we didn't go to Mill Rose Inn afterall. The telephone conversation was a big turn off for me. If someone refuses to tell us about how much we're going to spend if we chose your place, then thats out of the question. We are looking for someone who will tell us how much it is for us to have our wedding there, BEFORE we even think about signing any kind of contract. Besides, we found someplace that is EVEN BETTER for our wedding! read more

Nice property. Convenient location, however the proximity to downtown makes it noisy. A loud band was playing downtown and one could hear it in the room and jacuzzi. The most annoying aspect was the owner. Boy does he seem burnt out. I felt welcomed by a robot going through the motions. It was like a recording which he has done a million times. Did not feel very welcomed. That's was B&Bs are suppose to be about. There was no personal touch in this place. His wife seemed nice but she was never around. Wake up and smell the Rose. read more

My husband and I recently stayed at the Mill Rose Inn in Half Moon Bay. We wanted a nice relaxing and romantic get-a-way and that is exactly what we got. This place is surrounded by lovely gardens and outside patio. Great first impression. When you check in, the Inn Keeper, Terry, gives you a tour of the amenities and shows you to your room. There is no shortage of great things about this place. Terry has an endless collection of movies that you can take to your room. (We watched 3 during our two night stay.) There is a "dessert bar" open from some time in the early afternoon to midnight. They serve a array of bundt cakes and the BEST oatmeal chocolate chip cookies! Also, in the late afternoon or evening (time of your selection), Terry brings a platter of cheese, crackers and fruit to you room. We knew we were going to stay up late with the movies so we asked him to bring it at 6 p.m. but when he found out we really weren't going to eat it until much later, he insisted to bring it when we wanted to eat it so the fruit would be fresh. So we had our platter at 9 p.m. Not sure that is always an option as we stayed Sunday and Monday nights but it was a wonderful option. We enjoyed the robes and schedule time in the PRIVATE garden jacuzzi.The scheduling is done to ensure you have a private hour and don't have to share with strangers. So romantic. The room was decorated in beautiful antique furniture and the bed was so comfortable. The mini fridge is stocked daily with wine,beer and waters and it is complimentary. There is brandy and scotch in the room and also that is part of the package. They even left a sweet card for us wishing my husband a happy birthday. We live only a hour from this place and plan to return when we need an escape. read more

This is the best b&b we've ever been to. There is a reason why it has the AAA four diamond award. The breakfast is delicious and the innkeepers are so warm and welcoming. They have lots of amenities and complimentary things you wont find at other properties such as a wonderful fruit and cheese tray with champagne in the afternoon, drinks and cookies etc. The garden is beautiful and half moon bay is just a little treasure worth keeping to yourself. read more

Where to start...we received a night stay as a wedding gift. I called last minute to book but the rooms on our GC were not available(my bad). Eve was so sweet-she called me back to offer an upgraded room as long as we covered the small difference. We stayed in the honeymoon suite-beautiful decor and view of the gardens, complimentary wine, sherry, brandy, coffee, beer in the room and cheese plate delivered in the evening. We're not big white wine drinkers so Terri was kind enough to bring us a bottle of champagne with our cheese. We took advantage of the private spa time-such a romantic set up! Excellent! Everything was perfect from the included sherry and brandy in the room, to the hot tub in the garden, every detail was thought of. We had a wonderful time. The proprietor made us reservations at a great restaurant walking distance away. We came back after dinner, had a little dessert from the included dessert bar, then soaked in the hot tub. In the morning we had a fabulous breakfast served in our room with amazing coffee and Champlain! What a wonderful place to stay! My husband and I like to go on spontaneous getaways around the Bay Area and this was beyond our expectations! The attention to detail was incredible, from the personal greeting card waiting for us in the room when we arrived, to the decanters of brandy and sherry and a stocked fridge. We soaked in a private hot tub both day and night which was perfect on the chilly night - and to be able to go back to our room to a warm fire in the fireplace was magical. The beds AND pillows were extremely comfortable, I never brought my pillow out from the car. The breakfasts each morning were delicious and made on the premises. The coffee was yummy, I could go on and on. The price, for what you receive, is VERY reasonable. And everything was spotless clean! Treat yourself and make a reservation. I'm going to recommend the Mill Rose Inn to all my friends and family. This is hands-down the nicest B&B experience I've ever had. My wife and I trudged in immediately after our wedding reception and were immediately spirited away to true relaxation and luxery. From the minute we stepped out of our car we were immersed in sights, smells, and sounds that put us at ease. Terry was exceptionally gracious and accommodating and the amenities were far beyond expectations. For the night we stayed there, we were able to completely forget about the outside world and enjoy just being together (and incredibly relaxed). My husband and I stayed here on our wedding night and for a brief honeymoon afterwards. Eve & Terry were so accommodating, even staying up late to greet us as we arrived at the inn at nearly midnight. There was champagne, wine, soft drinks, and an abundance of snacks when we arrived. Terry showed us how to use all the amenities and made us a late-night cheese, crackers, and fruit plate. We had an amazing night's sleep in the super comfy bed. In the morning, Terry delivered us a delicious homemade breakfast which we ate in front of the fireplace. We had a relaxing time perusing their large collection of DVD's, walking around the gardens & town, using the private outdoor jacuzzi, as well as the in-room jacuzzi. There was always something delicious to eat or drink, at no additional cost. The location is great as you can easily walk to many restaurants and nearby attractions. My husband and I recently stayed at the very rosy and cozy Mill Rose Inn. Lots of rose decor inside and out. Beautiful gardens and an enclosed gazebo to privately enjoy the hot tub. The room was clean and had all of the amenities you could think of. The bed was extremely comfortable and the sheets were soft and creamy, yes creamy, just like good sheets should be. There was a television and a huge selection of DVD's available to us. The Innkeepers were welcoming and accommodating. They referred us to several delicious restaurants close by and it was obvious they knew the area well. The Mill Rose Inn is very close to San Francisco which is why we selected it. We traveled back and forth several times over the weekend and each time the drive was enjoyable and easy. I "definitely" recommend putting this sweet little inn on your bucket list. read more

This is a gem of a place. I have never had so many complimentary extras offered - too many to take advantage of. The garden and patio are simply lovely. All practical things have been considered too. There is an ironing board and iron in the bedroom. Hairdryer in the bathroom. Everything is spotlessly clean. We had a very relaxing weekend and took Terry the inn-keepers advice on where to go walking in the area. He also booked a wonderful restaurant for us. read more

I love this charming, romantic, beautiful and welcoming place. A true gem. Every nook in this inn is so pretty with lots of flowers, gorgeous and warm interior decorations, along with brandy and sherry. The beds are so comfortable and have a nice scent. The bathrooms are big and clean, plus there's a Hot Tub! You can see the owner's hospitality everywhere. The Champagne Breakfast is absolutely wonderful. I was happy we didn't leave early in the morning as the experience was so relaxing. I got a really good deal through their website and will definitely come back! read more

This B&B is so wonderful, very cozy the Inn keepers are very friendly. The cakes and cookies that Eve makes are a lot better than the cakes that you pay at restaurants.The private spa is wonderful and if you like you can have breakfast in bed specially if its raining, by the fireplace and watch movies all day provided free of charge by the inn. If you like garden, spend some time in their Rose garden,its fantastic a lot of love and care goes into it. The Breakfast served by Terry downstairs if you is wonderful. Terry is very informative about the local restaurants and places to visit. You can see after 30 years that they still have a lot of devotion and passion. My son and his now wife were married at the Mill Rose Inn on April 30, 2016. The gardens were in full bloom, the weather beautiful and the Ceremony was flawless! Eve and Terry accommodated our every need. A bridge for the bride and groom to get married on, a high tea reception. Everything was beautiful and so classic. The rooms where the wedding party stayed were perfect. Victorian and comfortable. Lights at night on the trees and buildings made it so romantic. Rooms were stocked with Sherry, Brandy, wine and water. Flowers in the garden and orchids in the rooms amid the beautiful antiques. The staff was so accommodating, warm and welcoming. This place is a very beautiful Victorian style Bed and Breakfast! My wife and I had an anniversary day trip this weekend and stayed here. The Bordeaux Rose Suite was rather spacious and beautiful. The inn keepers were extremely hospitable and all around friendly people. The breakfast was awesome. We had an apple and cranberry cobbler, an artichoke fritatta, a banana & orange smoothie, and their home made bread and spread. The garden is beautiful and surrounds a jacuzzi room. The inn keepers have gone through great lengths to maintain the garden. The location is within a block or two of a local restaurant: "Pasta Moon", where we had an excellent dinner. My wife had the crab linguine, and I had the braised beef shank with risotto. We also shared a plate of Pumpkin gnocchi. All, in all, this is a very wonderful place, and we definitely recommend it! read more

I know that sounds cliche but when you consider the wonderful amenities, the glorious ambiance and the beautiful accommodations of this jewel near the sea, you will discover what it means to live life in a peaceful, relaxing, serene and amazingly gorgeous environment. From the moment you set foot at Mill Rose, you feel something different, something remarkably special. It's almost hard to describe with words. The amount of care that has gone into the place is awe-inspiring. We were greeted with fresh, homemade cookies, wonderful hospitality and a room suite fit for royalty. The innkeepers Terry and Eve are delightful conversationalists who made us feel very welcome. The breakfast was outstanding! Gourmet style cheese scramble that was similar to a souffle/quiche was amazing! It was served with a delicious blend of fresh fruit, including blueberries, kiwi, strawberries, raspberries and everything healthy. Then to top it all off they even treated us to a wonderful orange banana frothy juice. Half Moon Bay is a beautiful town near the sea off Highway 1 in California and if you go, which I highly suggest you do, make it a point to check out the Mill Rose Inn. You'll be glad you did. If you need to plan an intimate getaway or a wedding celebration, or anything that brings people together, you will want to consider the Mill Rose Inn.
