Our latest dire situation was the result of some…read moremighty winds, known as Santa Anas in these here parts, and a 110 year old door that slammed itself shut. Who knows how old that thin windowpane was in the upper half of that door, nor how many times had the wind slammed that sturdy door shut, but this time, it gave up the ghost and shattered glass all over my kitchen. Big, ugly, lethal looking shards. The door was essential to keeping the excessive heat and cold at bay. It was an inside door leading to an enclosed but uninsulated porch room, then to my garden. I didn't want a brand new, Home Depot door. This one was original to the house. I needed it to be fixed, and I needed it asap. So forget about my handyman hubby; his Hunny-do list is still longer than my Grandson's Xmas Wish List. Just sayin'. I looked for a referral from a trusted contractor we knew. And Jelco Glass (Nick) is the only name he gave me. Trust is most important. We brought the door to Nick, a real biggie decision that saved us about 1/2 of his original quote. Two days later, we were loading it back in our car. Tempered glass. Ah yes! Good for another century, and far less lethal should Mother Nature not play nice again. Sure, the door will need repainting. That will be another day. But the original quarter-round molding (with untold layers of ancient paint) that was holding the glass in, was carefully removed then reinstalled perfectly. The owner of Shower Royale contacted me right away. He asked whether he could come over in an hour, which was greatly appreciated so that he could talk to the contractor. Once he arrived, he was very cordial and polite. He got right to work measuring the area and then provided us some great options and prices - including finishes. He said he would need 3 business days to a week to get the glass for us once we ordered it. Because we were waiting to hear back from other vendors, we didn't commit right away. Days later, after a couple of disappointing missed meetings with another vendor, we reached out to him. He said he would take a Venmo deposit to order the glass. Two days later, he called me to let me know he had the item and could come over the same day to install it - which was awesome. He came over and installed the item within an hour. The glass looks wonderful. My wife loved it. We had a great experience with this vendor - especially with the price, quality of product, and the finish options.

Someone shot a 1" piece of rebar through our large, dual-pane front window in the middle of the…read morenight.....ugh. The window was put in 27 years ago, so I wasn't sure if it was repairable or if I'd need a whole new window. I called several window repair companies. Some said they no longer did residential services, only commercial properties. Others said they were days or weeks out before they could even come for an estimate. Another guy showed up 90 minutes late and I didn't have confidence in him. Then I found Kevin from All Pro Glass. He came right out, knew what he was doing, measured and said he could absolutely repair it so it was just as before. Awesome. About 6 days later, his partner Moon arrived on time with with a new dual-pane piece of glass. He removed the mouldings, cut out the old broken glass, cleaned the recess, and then silicone sealed the new pane into the window frame. It fit perfectly into the frame. What an absolute relief.
