I love millennium. It reminds me of game of thrones. I ordered the tempeh dish, which was prepared the way i imagined a dish from winterfell might be prepared. unlike the snowy, cold, and tough appearance of winterfell, my tempeh was not snowy, but rather warm and tender like a cut of meat (perhaps direwolf meat). The interior of the restaurant reminded me of princess cersei's palace, it was ornate and extravagant and had other decrepit noble style people enjoying their extravagant meals. Its like that one time in Game of Thrones, for instance, where people get married and have a big feast. Except, I didn't see anyone get poisoned (haha!). That Jofrey though, oh my god he deserved it. My dessert was delightful, with a coconut based ice cream colder than the heights of the Wall separating Westeros from the savage barbarism of the northern territories. My bundt cake was caramely and soft and delicious. Our server was gracious, and looked a lot like Jon Snow. Having fun with him, I asked him a question about the food, and once he started answering I cut him off and said 'You know nothing Jon Snow' (haha!). He was Obviously a fan. Overall I had a marvelous time at millennium restaurant, with its palace like lighting, its tender and flavorful food, and its understanading service. I left no tip, because this practice has not appeared so far in the Game of Thrones franchise, and I wanted my visit to be as authentic as possible. read more

This San Francisco unique restaurant was a pleasant surprise. I'm not much of a vegan but sister is. I found the menu selections varied and interesting. I had the Little Gem Salad and the Tamale. The salad was just right. Not too much dressing but totally taste worthy. The Tamale was even more tasteful than expected. Of course the wait staff were pleasant and competent. Even though the dinners were tres expensive the experience and the dinner matched the price. But, can't forget the dessert. Molten Cake with vegan ice cream. For me, this whole experience is worth repeating. Also, to find a restaurant that can be called 'unique' is a find in itself. We even bought their cookbook. read more

The food is very good, cocktails good, desserts very good. Vegan heaven, for sure. I have been here a couple a times now and wow, the level of the service does not match the food. Get some trainers in there pronto! Inattentive and aloof waitstaff with a tinge of ornery to top it off. It was seriously difficult to get anyone's attention for some basic things, like *ordering*. If you like filler and deep friend food, then come here to load on empty calories. The chef masks his lack of high quality ingredient with frying almost everything! I don't taste the art and soul of the chef. The food seems very "commercial" and cheap. A lot of the pairing is like grits!It a violation of vegetables to deep friend all the time and soak in heavy cream! Service is always very slow. Millennium has always been my go-to place for my birthday, but last night was the best ever. They had a six course meal that was unbelievable. Each course was better than the one before. We loved tasting and discussing the combinations of food, flavors, textures and even temperatures on each plate. The chef tries to make every meal unnecessarily complicated, and this doesn't help. A meal won't taste better with more ingredients, as long as the vegetables aren't selected/prepared carefully. Had not been to the East Bay Millennium- how did it take so long? Though I really enjoyed the SF location this didn't disappoint. The dishes were really creative, though very mushroom-reliant. Pickled veggies great; the carrots could have used more cinnamon. The griddle cake, which I didn't order as I don't love beans, was really spectacular; I even loved the gigante beans. read more

I've been dining at Millennium since they were in the Civic Center some 20 years ago. My Favorite location was on Geary, however, the new location is very convenient and staff is very good. The food is always amazing and while I usually only go once a year to celebrate our wedding anniversary we are never disappointed! read more
