Over the years, both of us have done multiple fabulous interior painting projects using Sherwin-Williams paints. My husband and I even had a really good Sherwin-Williams exterior project: painting the shabby stucco wall of our neighbor's garage. That exterior paint has held up great for several years. But our other outdoor Sherwin-Williams project has been a disaster. We have raised wooden beds in our backyard. When we expanded them, we decided to go top-of-the-line with Sherwin-Williams stain instead of our usual hardware store brand. I took pictures of our project and had a wonderful consultation with the employee there, and felt 100% positive that our new stain would be fabulous. We did all the prep properly and followed all the instructions. And, a mere year later, the stain began to flake. Two years later, and it looks embarrassingly bad. It's flaked up in huge chunks and I AM MAD. Again, we consulted properly and did all the proper prep and insured that we were using the correct products. That being said, I do feel like the staff there are/were lovely. And I've loved all of our other Sherwin-Williams paint projects. But I will never buy an exterior Sherwin-Williams product again.

This was a bigger project than I realized and without Fay's expertise I would have been so lost! BEWARE DIVISION HARDWARE REPAIRS…read more An employee of Division Hardware (37th & Division) who does all the repair work RUINED my screen door, charged me $500, said they would be back to fix it, doesn't answer texts, store owner doesn't care. My screen door came back banged up and missing a chunk of wood; the screens almost immediately came out; the trim wood is falling off; the stain is splotchy, uneven, and missing in spots. They also busted the door lock but I went to Hippo and they fixed that. I would avoid this store for repairs if i were you because they do the worst work I've ever encountered and don't stand behind it either.

I find it way easier to consult and find help here than anywhere else. All staff here are great. These are pretty small stores, yet they somehow managed to fit in almost everything I've ever looked for. It does feel crowded, and the aisles are quite narrow, so perhaps that's their secret. The staff has been hit or miss in terms of how knowledgeable they are about projects, but they've all been very friendly. Street parking only. Dog friendly.

A couple sides of the house were heavily sun damaged so a lot of lead-abatement prep work was necessary, but the two pros who handled the project did extensive prep work on other areas as well. Their work on the multicolored scalloped shingles under the roof peak is impeccable. Dyrayll also lined up a carpenter to repair rotted windowsills and his work was great as well.
