She explained the paperwork and prep, and got me ready for the procedures, then did her part to assist Dr. Gomes. She also helped by reminding me to relax and breathe during the work, since I sometimes get nervous and tense up. It sounds like a small thing, but it shows she was paying attention to my status as well as the doctor's instructions, and finding ways to make things go more smoothly. Dr. Gomes even called me personally the night after my morning procedure, to check on me. She didn't just tell me to call her if I had problems. She contacted me to find out how I was doing, firsthand. I haven't had a dentist do that before, but I later found out that Dr. Gomes does that for every patient who has an extraction. Overall, I feel like I got and am getting the best possible dental care I can get from Dr Gomes and her staff. And I also feel like I got that for a fair and reasonable price. Since those two things don't always go together, Stencil Dental is really something special. I am new to the area and hadn't found a local dentist yet - but now I have. I wouldn't go anywhere else.

She listens, takes pride in her work, and I'd be surprised if there's a better dentist out there. My family stayed with this practice for years because of her talent, despite noticing high turnover among the hygiene and office staff. Unfortunately, a recent issue with the billing department ruined our experience. After receiving an unexpected charge that was not disclosed prior to treatment, I attempted to resolve it via email. I received a brief, abrasive response alongside a hand-scribbled bill that lacked clear explanation. To clarify the charge, a Cigna insurance representative joined me on a conference call to advocate on my behalf. During that call, the billing staff member, Colin, was dismissive, repeatedly interrupted the representative, and became heated when challenged. While Cigna successfully got the inaccurate charge waived, our reward for advocating for transparent billing was receiving a certified letter terminating our care. Dr. Gomes is one of the best dentists around, but the unprofessionalism and hostility from her administrative team ultimately forced us out. I strongly encourage management to review phone recordings with Cigna so Dr. Gomes understands how her patients are being treated behind closed doors.

I had my first cleaning with Karen at 508 Dentist in Swansea, MA, this week. The office is bright,…read moreclean, and inviting, with its own coffee and drink bar. Mr. A at the reception greeted me and checked me in when I arrived. I waited no more than 10 minutes before Karen called me in and showed me to her station. Her station was clean, bright, and stocked with all new, state-of-the-art dental equipment. Before I sat in the chair, we discussed my dental file, which my previous dentist had sent over, along with some dental history. She listened carefully and was aware of my terrible fear of the dentist from a horrible childhood experience. When I sat down, Karen explained what she was going to do and made sure I was comfortable with everything. She started with a complete set of new dental X-rays. She worked quickly and efficiently, knowing that bitewing X-rays are uncomfortable. I usually get my teeth cleaned twice a year without fail, but because of a cracked tooth, it had been almost a year since my last cleaning. Next, she cleaned my teeth, removing some plaque buildup in a few spots. Karen worked very carefully to remove all the plaque without me feeling any scraping, gum pricking, bleeding, or discomfort. She regularly checked if I was OK and occasionally asked questions about specific teeth, which no hygienist had ever done before. To me, this showed she was paying close attention to each tooth and thoroughly checking it while cleaning before moving on. She wasn't just doing a routine cleaning to get me out the door and the next patient in her chair; she genuinely cared about the quality of her work. I really appreciated this level of dental care. When it was time to polish my teeth, Karen held the suction tube herself while she polished, instead of hooking it onto my bottom lip like other hygienists have done, or pulling at my lips to access my teeth. I never felt the suction tube in my mouth, and my mouth never filled with plaque, fluid, or gritty paste. I didn't have to rinse my mouth during or after the cleaning, and no gritty residue was left when Karen finished. Usually, I have to rinse multiple times to get the paste out, which often stays in my mouth until I drink something afterward. This was the best dental cleaning I have ever had. She screamed when he started the tooth removal process, and this sick man had the audacity to get mad at her. When she asked for more novocaine, expressing that she could feel all of the pain of this process, he refused, saying she had enough. Clearly she did not. My mother was having major knee surgery in August, so she needed to get all dental work done by July 30th to still qualify for the surgery. She needed this knee surgery, so she just sucked it up and went through HORRIBLE pain as he twisted, turned, and yanked her tooth out. Throughout the whole process, he was mocking her for not staying still through the writhing pain of getting your tooth ripped out without enough novocaine. Then when it was done, he just sent her home with a few bloody gauze. When she came home, she was crying, bloody, and a wreck. I can't believe someone gave you a dental license you sick freak. When a patient is screaming from pain, and all you do is mock her, you deserve your practice taken away from you. We will never return to this practice, and will tell everyone we know to steer clear. I called and ask to make an apt first would not make one tell i sent them then paperwork whichbwas fine. This office is an hour 30 mins from my house the day of the apt I get a call at 8am my apt was at 830 the call said I was late I told them I have an email with the time on it and that I was not. I get there at 8:15 and office was closed. I called and they said I was at wrong office again email conform I was not. I drove extra 20 mins and got there. The Dentis himself was very nice and look at my daughter and made a plan for end of Feb. The dentist said need a physical 30days before she went under. I called got an apt early in month which was fine. The Dentist said just needed to bring paperwork with me day of apt. I then get an email saying my apt was on monday Feb 23 I told then that apt was Tues 24. Then got a text saying apt was at 12pm on 24th the Dentist told me I would not get tiĺl day before the apt. Then I get an email saying they need the information from the Doctor office. Thank God I made an early apt because Dentist himself told me not to do tell middle of month and know saying if dont have paperwork tomorrow they will cancel my daughter apt. This offer so bad. I will never go back. I am kinda scared to even have them touch my daughters month.
