Don't you all love the HOA especially when they tell you what to do? Well, they likely mean well,…read morekeeping the neighborhood gray, near colorless aesthetic. Anywho! This time around, HOA told us to paint our house. Well, yeah! Da humble abode severely needed a fresh coat of paint. Chica went on a search and found McCarthy Painting. I followed up and checked reviews. They're legit licensed, bonded and do good work. Fast forward to the first day Armando and Andres started the job. They consulted with me and confirmed the features of the dwelling and the specific colors set for them from Sherwin Williams pallet for this model. Shout out to the lone faux shutter feature in da back of da house. *rolling eyes*. These guys communicated clearly the job and the specifics to be done. They explained to me the way they will paint the eaves and gutters (a little different from the original paint patterns). I'm good with that. That actually matches what all the neighbors did with their new paint jobs. Armando and Andres got right to work starting with the power washing for day one. The humble abode might have sighed a great sigh of relief when they did this. Gone are the tree sap, chimney soot, dust and pollen stains. Next day, cover up and protect. Then next 2 days paint all large surface areas and most of the trim. Day 4 finish all trim and doors. Last day, touch ups. These guys work hard and thoroughly. We are so happy and relieved to have the house painted right with the correct premium paint - Sherwin Williams. Looking over the humble abode now... She looks polished and beautiful. Take that HOA! Do you not approve? Thanks to McCarthy Painting Armando and Andres for making her look good again.

***UPDATE AFTER OWNER RESPONSE*** This is normally not…read moresomething I would do; however, after the owner decided to attack me personally and tell a boldfaced lie, this response had to be forthcoming. First, he states that he politely tried to decline my business and claims I insinuated that I would leave a bad review if I didn't get my paint upgraded for free--which again is simply a lie! I have the emails and texts from the initial estimate visit with the original quote of $1,700 that followed shortly thereafter and then the corrected one of $1,600 as well, and all the requests for me to approve the job. I never tried to weaponize anything, and the owner knows it; I just asked that you honor what your representative stated about the premium paint. Stating "people like me" was all I needed to hear and was what I suspected this ultimately was about. Which one are you: a racist, a homophobe, or both? But for sure, you are a young, petulant, and weak little boy who lacks professionalism and business ethics. DON'T ATTACK PEOPLE LIKE THIS WHEN YOU KNOW YOU'RE IN THE WRONG ... DO BETTER NEXT TIME AND BE HONEST AS WELL!! ***PLEASE READ *** DECIDED TO SHARE AFTER OWNER DECIDED TO USE PROFANITY TOWARD ME WHEN IT WAS COMPLETELY UNWARRANTED*** Extremely disappointing and unprofessional experience with PB Painting and the owner, Cameron. During the initial estimate, a representative quoted $1,700, but we explicitly agreed beforehand on a price of $1,600 with premium paint included. When the official quote arrived, the price was incorrectly listed at $1,700; after I pointed this out, they corrected it to the agreed $1,600. However, while dealing with a relentless automated texts and emails asking to approve the quote, I took a closer look at the fine print. I discovered they had specified Sherwin-Williams SuperPaint--which I verified directly with Sherwin-Williams is not their premium tier. It became clear they didn't expect me to check the actual product specs. When I called the owner, Cameron, to address this discrepancy, he casually claimed the job would actually cost more if I wanted the actual premium paint we had already settled on. When I calmly pointed out how unfair and seemingly misleading that was, Cameron abruptly cancelled the job, claiming he didn't want the "stress." When expressed the unexpected blatant unprofessionalism, Cameron escalated to profanity and told me, "F you." When I informed him that I would be sharing my honest experience in a public review, he threatened to sue me. I never raised my voice or swore; I simply expected them to honor their word and basic business ethics. Furthermore; Imagine advertising your business at @homedepot and then using Sherwin Williams Paint. This was actual shocking experience; but do as you wish.

I own several properties and have done many construction projects, ranging from pools to kitchen remodels, and often find the process of working with contractors frustrating and, oftentimes, when it's all said and done, unhappy in one way or another. That was absolutely not the experience with the SD Local crew. Chad's quote was super competitive and did not change from start to finish. The process was timely, ended exactly when he said it would, and was right on budget with no surprises. Thank you, Chad and Orlando, for an incredible job

I have "The Money Pit" fixer-upper house and continue to work on it with and without help. I do…read morenot like heights, so for a portion of our 'great room' job, I reached out a few different painting companies. (There are a lot of companies/contractors out there who try to take advantage of their customers. It was refreshing for me to find a couple who were truly impressive and honest.) I chose Local San Diego Painting. Chad came out last week to review the three turrets which each having 3 rows of rough-wood trim - roughly 12', 14' and 22' from the ground and one turret was over a sunken bar area, so access above was tricky. (The surrounding ceiling is all wood, which we did not want painted.) His estimate was very reasonable and the two man crew did an excellent job. They were both very professional, and nice. They started and finished this job yesterday. They even stayed an extra hour past their normal hours to finish the job. I will not hesitate to use them at this house again and any of my rentals in the future.

Over time, since that side of the house gets blasted by the sun, the discoloration has become more noticeable. I called Stubbins last Thursday to ask for a quote. I spoke with Mike A, who also gave me his cell. I sent him photos of what I needed painted, and he answered a million questions from me about the difference between staining and painting and how the pricing would be affected. I agreed to go with Stubbins on Friday. By Monday, Mike A had sent a team to color match the paint needed, and by COB, had completed the project. The front of my house now looks gorgeous! I am extremely pleased with the exceptional service I received from Mike A and his team at Stubbins Painting, and will be returning for all of my paint needs in the future.

Very Disappointing Experience…read more We hired Stubbins Painting to paint our entire house. We chose them over lower-priced quotes because of their strong reviews and, more importantly, the promises they make about their service: 5-year warranty, 100% customer satisfaction, experienced in-house painters, and no subcontractors. Unfortunately, our experience was very different. From day one, we made it very clear to Mike that we had a very tight schedule and needed the house completed within a specific timeframe. The project took much longer than expected. While we were at the home, we discovered that Stubbins had hired different subcontractor painters to work on our house, despite their website specifically stating that they use in-house painters and no subcontractors. The situation was made worse because the subcontractors failed to show up multiple times, causing additional delays and making it extremely difficult for us to manage our schedule. The work also appeared rushed initially. The walls were not properly prepared before painting, and paint was applied over imperfections that should have been addressed first. We continue to find chipping paint, inconsistent coverage, and poor finishes, including inconsistent painting in the kitchen. The minor drywall work that was specifically quoted was another major problem. It was done crooked, tilted, and not properly leveled. We ultimately had to spend a significant amount of additional money hiring another professional to correct and complete the work. What is most disappointing is that the company did not stand behind the promises that influenced our decision to hire them. We repeatedly brought the remaining issues to their attention and requested repairs, but problems continue to remain unresolved. We paid more than other quotes specifically because we trusted Stubbins' reputation and promises. Unfortunately, the actual experience did not match what was represented to us. I gave this considerable time before writing this review because I wanted to see whether the company would ultimately take responsibility and resolve the issues. Unfortunately, that has not happened. I would never hire Stubbins Painting again. I strongly recommend making sure you fully understand who will actually perform the work, who will supervise it, and how warranty issues will be handled before hiring them.
