When I checked into my hotel in Idaho Falls, I asked the front desk where I should eat. One person recommended a spot next door, but the woman checking me in quietly leaned in and said, "Go to Milner's Gate. It's better food." That was enough for me. From the name, I expected a standard pub feel. Instead, the space is open, modern, and clearly put together with care. I sat at the bar as a solo diner and asked what I should order. The bartender asked how hungry I was and told me to get the ramen. I hesitated, thinking I might need something else alongside it, but I'm glad I listened. The Beef Short Rib Ramen Bowl delivered. The short ribs were tender and rich, the broth savory with depth from garlic, ginger, and chili. The jammy egg was perfect, and the pickled Fresno peppers balanced the bowl well. One bowl was more than enough. I also had a couple cocktails, and they were spot on. This is a place I would absolutely come back to and bring people with me. If you're in Idaho Falls and want something that goes beyond standard brewery fare, Milner's Gate is worth it. read more

As of late, my experiences in Twin Falls restaurants had not been good, but last night at Milners Gate, I had a revelation !!! Cauliflower crust pizza, and short rib Ramen were absolutely better than expected, we will return for both. I wasn't expecting much in way of service, but was gleefully surprised at the attention and professionalism of our waiter. Had to do a double take on the price of my martini, I thought it was happy hour. I was surprised when I was told no that's the accurate price, Grey Goose vodka martini, and no extra charge for olives..... unlike another local restaurant which I will not name. Milner's Gate is a laid back local brewery with even better food! I discovered Milner's Gate on TripAdvisor, and I can confidently sing their praises. Milner's Gate is located in downtown Twin Falls in a historic looking building. There isn't a designated parking lot, but we had no trouble with street parking. You can't beat free! We stopped by for lunch, and our server was personable and friendly, although she wasn't very knowledgeable about beer. She offered recommendations based on what she's been selling, and we loved the Banjo Shredder IPA and Boot Check Pale Ale. We even took home a 4-pack of the Banjo, which the bartender poured and packaged right from the tap. For lunch, we ordered the Pulled Pork Idaho Nachos, Blackened Salmon Cesar Salad, and Beef Short Rib Ramen Bowl. The Pulled Pork Idaho Nachos were a "shareable", but this could definitely be an entree considering how huge the portion was! This was our favorite dish of the day, maybe even our Idaho roadtrip, and we're still dreaming of those crispy sidewinder fried potatoes. The ramen was surprisingly sweet, but still an interesting and innovative dish. This is my second time going while in town. I had a weird interaction with the host basically telling me a spot was open at the bar that clearly was not, so I just waiting for a table. They seemed annoyed I needed a table for 1 person but there wasn't any space at the bar. I was SO excited to get the butternut squash ravioli as my friend got it last time and I really wanted to get it this time. but sadly it wasn't fully cooked.. Hundreds of Hops self-guided US Hop Passport Brewery Tour Stop 7, Stop 5 of 7 for Idaho We popped in with about 40min til close & were immediately greeted/ adv the kitchen was closed. We were really just looking to get our book stamped & this stop was quite the drive from the hotel, so we'd munched along the way. It does appear that the kitchen is worth trying tho, on a side note We each ordered our selection and both were good. One of the owners, Christopher, took note of the US Passport Book & chatted us up. He was excited to share about the Brewery, brew process, equipment and history. He gave us a tour. The building is really lovely and expansive. I don't know that we'll ever make it back, as it's so far out for us but I'd certainly recommend swinging in if you're out that way. read more

We would have had another but our waitress never came back nor did she check on us. We went inside to pay bill that took over 10 minutes to even get acknowledged. My wife and I have been to Milner's many times. We love to sit in the bar by the windows and watch people and cars go by as we have a drink and nice dinner. The food is always terrific. I'm usually a beef and potatoes guy, but on our server's strong recommendation I ordered the seafood pasta. OMG! A revelation! Shellfish in a cream sauce with garlic and just the right amount of seasonings. My wife is a little picky and often defaults to a burger. The brie fig burger is a classic. The atmosphere that Milner's gate has to offer is very unique, there are multiple levels with the brewing equipment exposed offers a modern/industrial vibe but still very comfortable. The food here is executed on a professional level, everything we ordered tasted amazing. The drinks are a little pricey but worth every penny, delicious. Our server Avery was professional, attentive, and made sure we had anything we wanted, but without breathing down our necks. Three words for Milner's gate: Well done, bravo. read more

My wife and I really enjoy going to Milers Gate for special occasions. Tonight we celebrated our anniversary. The service was fantastic. We had an issue with one of the dishes and our waiter handled it very professionally. A manager also came by to talk about it. It was fixed within minutes. The prime rib was delicious. The burger and oysters saved the day! First time visiting Idaho and we really didn't know where to dine. The options on Yelp were somewhat limited, so we ended up at Milners Gate. For starters we order the oyster shooters, which were good. The oysters were flown in from Puget Sound and were very fresh. They were served in a shot glass with mango-cilantro salsa and lemon. We arrived at the restaurant at around 1:30pm, a time when they were still serving the brunch menu. Too bad, because we were really looking forward to trying the elk gumbo that we saw on Yelp. The brunch menu was very limited, so we ended up with brie and fig burger and an arugula chicken salad. About 15 minutes after we placed our order they switched to the full dinner menu. Bummer! The arugula chicken salad was over drenched with a lemon vinaigrette dressing. While the dressing was good, I could have gone with just 1/4 of it. It was like eating a mouthful of dressing, just nasty! I asked for an extra bowl of plain arugula and our waitress brought some over, but I could've used 2 more bowls! The brie and fig burger was great and very obvious they used fresh beef! The shoestring fries were extra crispy and well seasoned. The beer, all of them, were a disappointment, considering they were brewed in-house. We ordered a 16oz of their "Banjo Shredder" #5, which was supposed to be a hazy IPA, but it was barely hazy. We also ordered a flight of beer, each 4oz. We sampled the "Blackadar" American Scout, "Home Alone" Hefeweizen, "Idahop" NW Hazy IPA, "Fall Down" Brown Ale, and Golden Girl" Blonde Ale. I don't have plans to visit Idaho again anytime soon. Even then, the likelihood of me returning to this restaurant is 0%. For people who live nearby or plan to visit Twin Falls, stick to the burger and oysters and you won't be disappointed. If you order the salad, ask for a side of dressing and adjust according to your taste. Hold the beer, and do not drink the water (horrible faucet water)! read more

My sister in law and I decided to stop in here and have a couple of appetizers and drinks after a difficult afternoon. We were pleasantly greeted by the hostess who took us to a nice table and were quickly asked by our waiter what we might like to drink. He was very helpful in telling us his favorite drinks and appetizers. He even picked the style of how our appetizers would be made. His choices were very good and we were very satisfied. We went for a friend's birthday party and we were seated in the upper area. Waitress (Alana-sp?) was fantastic and on top of everyone's drink and menu orders timely. When the food arrived, it was seasoned perfectly and heard several other "reviews" at the table starting how wonderful everything tasted. Alana specifically came and asked if my steak "was great" and if it just needed "a little bit more" and made sure I was happy with the steak and temperature (I had asked a few questions if they really cooked to proper temperature/medium etc") it was right on and delicious. Pork Nachos 10/10- My husband and I finished the entire plate. We really liked the BBQ pork. It was full of flavor and wonderfully delicious. Siracha Burger 10/10- The Patty was cooked perfectly and there were no soggy bottoms on this burger. Pork Schnitzel 10/10- The schnitzel breading was perfectly golden brown and crispy. Just the right amount of savory gravy over the top. Mashed Yukon gold potatoes were full of flavor and texture was spot on. Service 10/10- They kindly sat us on the outside patio. We had our pup with us and everyone was extremely kind and welcoming to both us and our pup. Overall dinner was a wonderful experience and we would happily dine here again. read more

I do so wish I could comment more fully on this restaurant. I had been looking forward to their tempura cauliflower and one of three entrees I had noted on their menu all through the drive from Portland today. But, despite our arriving well before the closing time listed ON THEIR OWN WEBSITE, we were informed upon arrival that they were closed. The staff then engaged in a prolonged discussion of where we could go in Twin Falls that would still be open and willing to serve us. They are probably still at it, but I don't know. UPDATE: It's taken me awhile since my last experience, to give this place another try. I did tonight and I'm pleased that I did so. To start, I ordered the cheese curds. I got it with the side of honey and their sauce. Both were delicious! For dinner I ordered the filet ramen bowl and I was very happy with my dinner choice. The meat was great, the broth delicious and full of flavor and the noodles were cooked very well. Overall, it was fantastic. My husband ordered the ribeye with asparagus. The steak had a great char on it but not overkill. It was cooked the way that he ordered it and the asparagus was great too. To finish, we got the lemon bread with raspberry sauce. It was very good but a little too sweet for me (that's a personal preference and not the restaurant's fault.) overall it had good lemon flavor and a hint of raspberry (more raspberry please). We sat at the bar and our bartender/server was Jamie. She was very knowledgeable in the menu, gave great feedback on menu items to help me select what to eat, was fast moving, very attentive and kind. To touch on my previous review, the music tonight was much more appropriate. I'm glad that we gave this place another shot and I'm glad that our food and experience was better this time. There are a lot of reasons to visit this restaurant. The staff and management are very nice, the atmosphere is super cool, and they are a restaurant/brewery voted the best brewery in all of Idaho. But I've got the real reason you need to try this place... IDAHO GUMBO!! Just, wow. First time I've said this on this trip, this is one of my favorite dishes, homemade or restaurant that I've ever had!! It has elk, venison, grilled chicken, andoullie sausage, spicy Italian sausage, okra, and rice pilaf...the flavors are absolutely amazing. I think the chefs name is Tom and I have to give him props for this recipe. It was just amazing. I also had the cheese curds, which were really nicely fried, and cheese curds are just an awesome appetizer. The beer was really cool. They had a number of completely different styles of beer, which is unique for a local brewery. But I had 3 ipas, a pilsner, and a brown ale. They were all really good. I think my favorite was the banjo #4 ipa. But they were all really smooth and had plenty of flavor, a really nice mix with styles for every one. Check it out!! I just did my twin falls Nissan commercial at Rob Green Nissan (could be Greene), now I'm in Boise and getting ready to try out the kopper kitchen and hopefully.. their finger steaks!! read more
