Did 3 dress pants 33 inch inseams 3 blue jeans 30 inch. When I came to pick them up he said "jeans were different"? He couldn't explain how. When I left them there all 6 were to be 33 inches. All he would do is not charge me for the alterations and return my "short"'jeans"? I think he is past his prime? Just my opinion. He is not truthful. read more

The tongue of my daughter's Doc Martens would not stay center. I took the boots to Milt's to see if it was possible to have it fixed. The gentleman said that all the tongue needed were two little slits for the laces to go through. When I picked up the shoes he had put loops on the tongues instead of the slits, something he had initially said wouldn't work. When I asked him why the loops instead of the slits, his response was that the slit ruined the shoe. Two weeks later the tongue is still crooked, the loops are crinkled and coming off, and there is exposed glue on the tongue. $150 boots are now worse than when I took them to get repaired. I should have read the reviews on this place before dropping my daughter's boots off. read more

Disappointed, brought a pair of jeans in to have hemmed up. They are different sizes by 1/4" and he says it's fine and won't do them. He says it's not much of a difference that he CAN'T fix it. I had he fix a pair of shoes before which he did a good job that's why he's getting 3 stars read more

I took my well-loved Dooney & Bourke bag in for zipper replacement. In addition to stitching it sloppily and crooked, he glued the end of the zipper and left a sticky mess. Plus, he installed the zipper BACKWARDS! He tried to clean the glue off, but it's still sticky. His response: "it will wear off after a couple of months." The bag is totally ruined. When I pushed, he offered half off, so just the low, low price of $24 to totally ruin this lovely and expensive bag. Any resale value is totally gone as well as my enjoyment and use of the bag. I went in yesterday to see if they could do a custom sewing project for me. Though I don't sew, it was not that complicated of a project, consisting essentially of sewing a large sleeping bag type fabric piece. He quoted me $300! Then he went on to tell me that my project, which is a photographic camera/darkroom combination wooden box, was stupid. And that I needed to change the design. He then said he normally charges $180 for designing! I said I would think about it and as I walked away, began fuming inside for the insults and the ridiculously high quote. read more

I paid $20 to fix the heel of a pair of high-heeled booties and shine them up. The heels were covered in leather and had a few rips in them. They did a fairly decent job but you can tell that the shoes were damaged previously. I'm not sure if they couldn't be fixed 100% or if they work just isn't as meticulous as I would want. I had believed that this was an honest establishment. I had my Dress Blue shoes re-soled here before and went back a week after I wore them to thank him for doing a good job. He re-stitched a leather golf bag handle for me and though it wasn't pretty-it was functional. NOW THE BAD NEWS. I brought in another golf bag that had a stripped nylon zipper on the "ball pocket." He said it would be $28 to change the zipper, in advance. I paid cash and picked it up the next day. On Sunday I finally got out in the early spring weather and the zipper popped open again because it was the same zipper. I took it back when I was off duty today and he denied ever seeing me or the bag before. Owner (Asian man) is very deceptive and screamed at me. I would consider myself a kind person. I'm not overly picky either. But I left a $300 purse there which was red leather and slightly faded for him to treat. I asked him to treat it (mind you not dye it). He charged me $15.00 I also left two pairs of designer leather boots that were fading and needed treating. He charged me $40.00 for the boots ($20 each). When I went to pick them all up, he had lost the linen bag my purse came in and handed me a dyed purse with red dye all over the zipper, metal accents, the liner inside, the brown leather straps, etc. I couldn't help but say, "Wow what happened to this? You ruined it" then I stopped myself and realized that was unkind and asked for an explanation. He started screaming at me telling me he wasn't a magician and what could he do with the purse but dye it? I was so confused. Then he said, it took me two hours I need to charge you another $20.00 for it. I was stunned. I pointed out the red dye smeared everywhere, asked where the linen bag was I had the purse in, and said the words I just mentioned. To balance the conversation out I did tell him the boots he worked on looked nice. I did ask him, "why did you not call me when you were deciding (on your own) to dye my purse knowing it would cost more than double I originally paid and that we had not discussed it?" He just kept saying that it needed dye and that he wasn't a computer and couldn't dye the leather red around the brown leather accents because he wasn't a magician. So I decided okay this poor old guy just ruined my purse but it did take him two hours to ruin it so I guess I should pay him for it. So as I was reaching for the $20.00 (against my better judgement) he just let loose and began screaming at me again. Besides dropping my items off this was our first time dealing with each other. I hadn't raised my voice or used a harsh tone or threatened him or asked for a refund or anything. In fact I was about to pay him more money when he started screaming at me about how impossible I was being. At this outburst and since I had already paid a fair amount for a ruined designer purse, I decided to grab my stuff and go. I came home and worked for hours on it with leather conditioner and cleaner I own. I was able to salvage it enough that someone from a distance wouldn't notice the red dye on the brown leather. That said for any close lookers it is easily noticeable that the brown leather accents are permanently dyed red. Oh well. It does look newer being a shiny red but definitely not 'designer' anymore. Oh and I can't use it with any light clothing because despite scrubbing for hours red dye still rubs off on clothing and other items it brushes against. Moral to the story if you are going to trust this man 1- Be very clear about what you do and do not want and ask him to call you if he suddenly decides to do something different 2- take before and after photos 3- don't bring anything additional (like my purse linen bag) 4- be prepared to pay more than he quotes 5- don't be surprised if he messes up something and blames you for it. 6- If you don't enjoy being screamed at, go elsewhere. On 12/23/2020 I took two pair of new pants to be shortened. The tailor had me put one pair on and marked it saying he would do the same with the other pair. On 12/24 I arrived at 9:10 to pick them up but he didn't show up until 9:30. Their posted opening time is 9 a.m.. When I returned home and upon trying them on they were still too long. I returned on 12/28 and put on one pair. At first he said they were "perfect" but I persisted that they are too long. He knelt down to mark them and I said I think about 1" more and he then said they look like they should be 1.5 to 2" shorter - this after saying they were "perfect". I ended by saying make them 1" shorter. It turned out that he was right on the jeans and I should have gone with at least 1.5". That's on me. My problem is he didn't shorten the cargo pants. I returned 12/29 and he marked them but then wanted to charge me the $15 again. I said no because he hadn't even shortened them when I brought them with my jeans the day before. He said I had brought in two pair of jeans and not these pants. I told him that these are the pants I brought in but he said that wasn't the case. I think this place may be under new management. No one there looked anything like a "Milt". I dropped off two pairs of shoes. One to have some loose leather clipped and polished. The other to have a complete re-sole. They asked me to pay up front, which seemed unusual. And the work took 3 weeks to complete, but the work on the re-sole was good ($65), and the work on the other pair was fair ($24). They used a darker polish - which my wife didn't appreciate. The only other thing that was disappointing was that they posted a 9:00 start time, but when I arrived to pick them up at 9:15 they weren't yet open. read more

I took a backpack in for zipper replacement. I was told it would be cheaper to buy a new backpack. When I insisted I wanted the zipper replaced, I was given a quote of $58. I got the zipper replaced somewhere else for $15. I've had shoes resoled at this place before. Good work but very expensive. read more

He also reached for my MK jeans with filthy polish stained hands and looked at me like I was crazy when i asked him to wash before touching my clothes. I will never go there again. Hard to know how many stars to give this place. The owner is super grumpy (perhaps he has a constant headache from all the shoe polish) and I paid $20 for a shoe shine. That being said, my wedge leather boots were pretty hammered and they look brand new. Amazing work! He even touched up the wedge heels. This little shoe repair shop that also does alterations now is so wonderful. Mr.Ham (owner) has fixed so many shoes, clothes, and even luggage for me. He takes much pride in his work throughout MANY years in business. Milt Shoe Repair is my personal go-to for advice and fixing as well as altering my husbands summer shorts and business clothes for work. Prices are reasonable and owner has gone the extra mile many times for me. He will tell you if you bring CHEAP shoes for him to fix that they are NOT worth fixing cause he WILL charge you more than you paid for them to fix, he is HONEST and that is a great quality that I respect from him. I took a VERY expensive pair of booties there a couple weeks ago. The owner was not in so I left them with another man who said Milt would call me to see what I wanted him to do to the shoes. After two days of not hearing from anyone. I called the shop. I spoke to Milt and said that my needed to be polished and new insoles put in. He quoted me $45. They were expensive and still had plenty of wear left in them, so I agreed. I came to pick them up on Friday and I could not believe my eyes! I was shocked. They looked worse than when I brought them in! They didn't even look like a "pair" any longer. They were two different colors. He also took it upon himself to "paint" the soles and heals and much of this paint was all over the leather where the top meets the sole. I was so mad, I just turned around and left WITHOUT my shoes! They were ruined :(. I will NOT be returning to this place EVER again. read more

Outstanding service!!! My first experience was a few weeks ago. My UGG boot had a hole in the seam. I was worried, because I was in town visiting and only brought two pairs of shoes. I took it in and Milt had it fixed within two hours at an extremely reasonable cost. Today I took in a pair of jeans that had a detached zipper, he fixed it on the spot. Again very reasonably cost. Milt is extremely gracious and very helpful, worth driving a few extra miles for. If was local I would be an absolute regular customer, as I always seem to have something to hem or fix. I bought a brand new pair of Keen leather winter boots on the 4th knowing I would have to have the calves stretched because they had a 15.5" calf opening and mine are 16", but I bought them anyway because they were exactly what I needed and it's not a big deal to stretch leather. They still fit, just more snug than I liked. I read some negative reviews about Milt's, but I'm a pretty open person who likes to give people the benefit of the doubt, plus they were really close to my home. I brought them in on the 5th and told the man and woman what I needed. We talked about stretching the calves for about 5 minutes because I was asking if the small elastic in the back would be a problem (he assured me it wouldn't) and because the woman couldn't figure out how to spell it or describe what I needed on the paper or something. Then they said I could pick them up in 3 weeks and that I needed to prepay $40 (the cobbler in my old town charged $5 to stretch both calves in a pair of boots!). After swallowing hard, I told them I would pay when I picked them up. After a week, I decided to call them to see if it really was going to take 3 weeks and was told that my boots were done and I could pick them up. I was excited, so I went over immediately. He showed me the boots and told me he had stretched them a lot. Only not at all in the calf. He stretched the ARCH of the foot. A LOT. I was sick about it. I politely asked why he stretched them there and not the calf like I had asked, hoping there was a good reason, and he told me that's what I asked him to do and that I hadn't mentioned the calf. I assured him that was incorrect and he started back-pedaling and told me to come back in 2 days and they would be done. He asked if I wanted to pay then and I told him I'd pay when he did what I asked. Well, I went in today to get them and when I first got there he kept saying how he "worked double," trying to make me feel guilty about HIS mistake. I just nodded and proceeded to try on my boots. They felt the same and when I asked where he stretched it he said in the calf and he said "last time you couldn't even get them on." I told him that wasn't true and he said "well, your calves are just too big, you know that." Then he kept saying that they "fit perfect" and "are so comfortable" like he was trying to convince me. I should have argued about the price, but I just wanted to be done with him, so I paid, took my boots and left, vowing to never go there again and to write a review, hoping to save anyone else the frustration. My boots aren't entirely ruined, just too big in the foot and ankle area, and still a bit snug around top of the calf. I might be able to stretch them myself with some water and alcohol, though. read more

Awful customer service, rude employees, and an extremely poor repair job! I took a pair of flats in for new heels and they came back set crooked on the shoe and smeared with big chunks of dried glue. There was dried glue all over the sole. Plus, the new heel was a rigid, cheap plastic that was very slippery and dangerous on hard floors. I had to take them elsewhere and have the job redone. I'm only giving them one star because I didn't leave my shoes there to get repaired. Depending on the work, it may have gone up, or down. I should have known to be weary when the woman ahead of me in line was told her item would be ready in two hours. Most places have enough work in the queue to at least have one day wait. I showed the man at the counter what was wrong with my boot and handed him the replacement piece. The property done job required the lining of the boot be removed on the inside so the button could be reattached. He first told me he'd go over the lining, I said not to because then the back of the button would just run up against me and either bug me, or cause the button to fall off again. His alternative, to move the button altogether because "it's going to cost a lot of money to you for us to remove the liner." I then showed him how it had been done before in a minimally invasive process on the other shoe. "A lot of money" he said. To which I replied "I don't care if it costs a lot, I just want it done right." I gathered up my things and walked out. Maybe they should consider telling their customers the options and pricing for each, rather than just wanting to do it the lazy way while assuming I may not want to pay a lot. #favoriteboots read more

I called on a Saturday morning to find out how long it would take to alter some pants. I figured a few days but to my surprise they told me the same day. I showed up they measured me up and told me 15 minutes and it would be done. Sure enough I waited around they got me done and even pressed my pants before giving them back to me. I took 150.00 pair of boots in last week. I picked them up with a 9.00 heel repair. the boots I took in were grey and black and a micofiber boot. The boots I picked up were a high finished blue/black polished boot. I cried when i got them home. I didn't really recognize them , when picking them up. The f'n owner was rude to me and was shuffling me out because he had to finish a seem on pant's. I had a funeral this week to attend so I just put it on the back burner until today. I got home late last night may 19 2013.. I called him today the 20th just what I expected. In his asian diolect which seemed to get worse and less understandable he said he did all the boots himself and they come with a free polish. I explained he just ruined a 150 pair of boots by polishing off all the faux finish and leaving a slick finish with some of the micor fiber still there. He asked me are you the one who picked the boots up.. I said yes. He then said,, you vary vary happy..You da owner, so you happy when you take da boot's. You vary, vary happy. You likey da boot if you take them home. You love how day look. I said. oh no I don't like them, and I am very angy you would say such a thing. He knew exactly which boots. I asked how long he had been in business, he said 35 year's.. I am exausted with these small business who dis reagard complaints and never offer help. They ruined my boots for 9.00... THey are ignorant business owners and completely out of lline. I would like help to have them out of business. I have read , on google and all over internet of how rude, and how they have detroyed peoples property while yelling on the phone to never call agian... I am contacting bbb today... I am SO SAD I didn't read the reviews BEFORE my visit. Just left the shop with a prom dress for my daughter. It just needed to be shortened. I had her try the dress on in the store and it is clearly longer in the front than the back. When I pointed this out, the guy working, told me that is normal. Right. So, while I'm trying to decide if she will trip on the dress, I look real close at the stitching. It looks terrible. When I point this out, the guy tells me that it's because the fabric is stretchy. I tell him that I could have done this good of a job myself and that I'm not happy with the work. He looks me right in the eye and says, "What are you going to do?" I tell him, "I guess nothing. But I won't be back and I'll tell all my friends." He then offers to fix the dress. I respond that they have had the dress for a week and I don't have time to leave it any longer. The guy throws his hands up, starts walking away and yells, "typical!" I just paid $45.00 to have a dress butchered. Overall: HORRIBLE customer service and lack of actual sewing skills. ** Just went back to "Milt" .. who IS the owner. I asked him what his name was and he refused to give it to me. Long story, short - I demanded my money back, he refused. We got into a bit of a debate. I complained loudly. He admitted that the work was bad and offered again to fix it. I told him, not only do I not trust his work, but I still don't have time. At the end, he gave me back $25.00, told me never to come back and said he would sue me if I wrote a bad review. Good times. I went next door and got some chocolate covered grapes at the Chocolate Cottage (best decision EVER). Lesson learned. read more
