I was referred to Milt's by a friend who has his race car taken care of there. Now that's a recommendation. I only drive a Toyota but these guys work on cars for fun! Great, knowledgeable service. Adrian explains to me the service I need and when it needs to be done. They don't add on a lot of things I don't need and the pricing is fair. I went to Milts Garage today, met with Andros and talked to him about my car. I basically told him I had a check engine light and I authorized 1 hour of service. He called back a couple of hours later and told he read the check engine light and fixed the minor problem free of charge because it only took 5 minutes. A lot of places would have charged me for the hour at a minimum if not more. I will be taking my vehicles here from now on with hesitation, Andros is Awsome. read more

By far my best experience at car dealers and mechanics. Milt's people are exceedingly nice, professional and trustworthy. It's hard to find people taking service so seriously in this industry. Especially for a woman who does not know too much about cars and fears rip-off, Milt's gives me much peace. Apart from a very neat job on my car, Andros extended beyond his normal working hours to accommoate my schedule. The garage also offers shuttle service. A real jewel in this area. Everyone there is super nice and friendly, and seem very honest (I don't know much about cars so I can't verify everything- at any rate they didn't try to sell me a bunch of extra services). I love love love the complimentary Mon-Fri shuttle service. The driver is hilarious and it is so convenient. They had to keep my car overnight a few times and I don't have a backup, so the shuttle was a lifesaver. I would definitely keep going here if I were still in the area. read more

I moved far away from my favorite mechanic that I used for a long time and I have to say that they that they have given me a viable alternative to making that long drive. These guys were very helpful and as far as I can tell they did a good job on my car (the wheel is attached now, yay!) so I'll give an extra star for that. I live in Southern CA and travel for work so I keep a number of things in my car. Nothing expensive but extra bags with clothes and various things. Unfortunately, when I got my car back I realized that some items were stolen. Apparently this is not a good area, but how would I know that being from out of town? Nonetheless I would expect them to lock my car and keep an eye on it while in their care (for 4 days). To be fair, the car was towed without my presence but it was a 15 minute drive and the car was dropped off within a reasonable time frame. Not nearly enough time for my things to be pawed through as they were. I gave the shop a call and left a message to let them know what happened and they never got back to me. Not even an "I'm sorry this happened but we assure you we took precautions to prevent it." Nothing. Radio silence. I'm very disappointed and, sorry guys, but as a consumer I feel it necessary to warn all others. Thankfully it was just stuff stolen from my car, not the car itself, but you never know and I would never take the chance. On the bright side whoever stole my belongings is probably really disappointed. I hope you really enjoy my business cards, spare change, chargers, shoes, clothes, coffee cups and fancy water bottles among other silly small items. read more

Called to have a price checked on pressing a wheel bearing and lady on the phone was rude. Customer service on the phone was really bad. She jumped in and assumed that I needed my car to be checked by their mechanics so they can make more money. She priced me $500 just to replace the right side wheel bearing on my 96 corolla. I was like Wow! All i needed is for you guys to press out the old one and put on the new and ill bring you the hub. Then she starts to tell my why i didnt tell her in the first place that i was bring the hub to get pressed. Then she said I'll be $100 off from the $500 she quoted me earlier. First of all I'm a mechanic, second ask y out customer how you can help them, third people don't like to be pushed into doing things, and fourth learn some customer service. I would not recommend this place to anyone out there. Go with a place that treats their customer good especially when talking on the phone. First impressions are always the key to good customer service and good for busness.... read more

My son was visiting from out of town, had a front tire wearing badly, and needed an alignment. We took his Chrysler 300M to Milt's garage. They were extremely insulting and rude. They said the car was unsafe to drive because the ball joints and tie rods were worn out, would cost thousands to repair, and was not worth repairing. They didn't even offer to do the repairs. So, we bought tie rod ends and ball joints at Auto Zone for about $250, supplied the labor ourselves, and took the car to Big O Tire for the alignment. Big O inspected the new work & the entire suspension, found it in good working order, and did the alignment. The car is driving great & tires wearing evenly. If you don't drive a new cream puff, don't take your car to Milt's unless you want to be treated like dirt. read more

Looking for a reputable, honest car mechanic? Here's my recent experience with Milt's Service Garage - Vallejo. I recently took my 4 year old car to the dealership service department here in Vallejo to attend to a couple of no-charge "recall" items. I also requested an oil change while the car was there. Subsequently, I received a call from the dealership stating that I also needed a front wheel brake job (2mm remaining-$380). I hesitated (gut reaction) but told them not to do the job at this time. The next day, I took my car to Milt's. Phil said they would take a look at the front pads/rotors. One and a half hours later, Phil called to tell me that the brakes were OK (4mm) and no repair was necessary at this time. He said they would only charge me $60 for the inspection. AND, they would make a note on my file that the next time I brought the car into them, they would give me a credit for the $60 charge! Ka-ching...$320 saved! Thank you Milt's! read more

I was concerned that a part of my car was hanging loosely underneath the car, and mentioned this to a friend at work. She advised that our organization brings our company cars to Milt's Service Garage and she assured me that I would be happy with the results if I checked them out. Wow, she was right! I don't remember a time when I was so pleasantly surprised by a business. I stopped by during lunch, introduced myself and mentioned being referred by a colleague at my company. I also saw how busy they were and so offered to come back. Phillip advised it was no problem to take a quick look at the situation. Short version of the story is that he and a co-worker examined my car, provided a quick fix and sent me on my way - at no charge! How unusual is that? At around 7am on Monday morning on my way to work in Sacramento the engine light came on on the BMW I was driving and the engine started smoking. I had to pull over to the side and call for assistance. There were almost no nearby car service stations which could assist with BMW queries. I was able to get hold of Adrian at Milt's who was incredibly helpful! I had to wait until 8 am for them to open, but through his recommendation we got a tow trucking company, which came within 30 mins, took me straight to Milt's and was able to rent a car very efficiently from Hertz next door. In no time I was back on the road so I could get to work on time. By lunchtime Adrian and his staff had identified the problem, proceeded with the work so that I could collect the car on my way back. The price was reasonable. Adrian stayed open an extra 20 mins after closing hours so I could collect the car, he gave me lots of useful advice and I was really pleased that he was able to assist me. I haven't come this close to getting robbed by a mechanic since I was a teenager. I came in with a leaky radiator hose and left with a leaky radiator hose and a wallet almost $130 lighter. They did a pressure test of the cooling system - fine - makes sense. Then, even though we explicitly told them that the car never at any time overheated, they took it upon themselves to perform a block pressure test (again, that I didn't ask for or need). Finally, they told me that there was oil in my coolant and that they wouldn't consider touching the car unless I had them replace every single hose and component that touches the cooling system (thermostat, radiator, O2 sensor, surge tank,etc.) to a total tune of around $2,000. Once it became obvious that I wasn't going to get rolled so easily, they squeezed me for the so-called diagnostic work performed and sent me on my not-so-merry way. I ended up doing what I am now kicking myself for not doing in the first place: going to my trusted mechanic of almost 8 years in Novato. He confirmed my suspicions: no oil in my radiator fluid and all other components in the cooling system seem to be fine. A few hoses, a thoroughly flushed radiator and a reasonable bill later, I was back on the road and worry-free. There should be a no-stars option above. Having to give them one full star before I could submit the review made me a little nauseous. read more
