OK, so this is a waaay overdue update....the nightmare continiued... After about a month I started to notice oil on the garage floor, did not think much of it because I figured this was residual oil left over from the repair. Over next couple of weeks leak did not go away and got worse, I checked the oil level and the dipstic was dry.. Had to add oil right away. Took time off from work and took it back to Milt's, they checked it and told me it was a leaking valve cover gasket..(at least they admitted their fault, I did not expect that!).I was pretty much in shock that for $1900 spent on a repair they re- used old valve cover gasket!! So the manager said he will take care of it right then if I wait for 1h, but after going to the back and talking to someone he came back with "no way we can do it today, drop the car off and we will call you"... Mind you this is my every day commuter, so I explained to the manager that this is costing me time and money, for being their fault in the first place, could they do atleast a complementary oil change? I got a stern reply "we don't do that sort of thing"! So next day I took another half day off work to go pick up my car...it was fixed but hood support was still not replaced, at this point I just wanted to run as fas as I could from that place... People who run this place have no preception of customer service or what time means to a customer... If you have no clue about cars and a repair goes right you may have a perception that this place is great, but true customer service only becomes apperent when customer is not happy and then the real face of the business shows. The rates this place charges for the location it's in and customer service they prvide are unrealistic, this is coming from someone that owns Porsche and Mercedes AMG besides my commuter Civic. read more

Worst mechanic ever! Took 4 weeks to get my Mini Cooper back in proper working condition. Kept getting conflicting excuses for taking so long. When they returned the car, it was missing important parts. Owner refused to take responsibility, yet found one of the parts he claimed he didn't have. He eventually provided the other parts that were missing, but left them for me to install. He tried to blame me for the missing parts and his excessive delays, and made conflicting excuses that strain credulity. Overcharged for services as well, e.g. charged 2 hours to replace a fuel pump I can replace in 30 minutes (go ahead and time me), and charged 3 hours to replace a brand new, perfectly fine low pressure pump I installed, and then swap it back. Lastly, they were sloppy. There were white grease marks on the hood and front fenders, as well as on the black engine trim and radiator overflow cap. I have no confidence that these people know Mini Coopers like they say they do. read more

I needed to have a smog test for my vehicle this year and I was surprised at how much the prices varied. I was offered supposedly discounts at shops that ranged from $50 to $100 and all the shops were within a 7 mile a radius. When I contacted Milt's Service garage I was given a rate of $38 and the owner was able to make an appointment for me for the following day. When I went to the shop, I received prompt attention and I was in and out in less than 20 minutes. It's good to use local businesses who perform work at a reasonable rate. I will definitely be back when my next smog test is due and I will recommend Milt's Service garage to others. read more

These guys are awesome! The place is pretty busy, but they were so accommodating. I had to get a smog check that day, and decided to do the yelp deal because it came out to be the least expensive out of all the places in town. They ended up not being able to do it that day because something went haywire with their smog machine. So they honored the yelp deal for $10 and only charged me for the smog certificate the following morning ! That in itself was worth being inconvienienced! Thanks guys!! read more

I was so impressed with Adrian & the service I received at Milt's. I had my truck in there in Nov 08 for a check engine light & it was riding rough. He kept me up to date on it (never making me feel like a "dumb woman" like many garages) and asked to keep it over night to make sure it didn't have a rough start cold in the morning. He also told me to let him know if it had any other issues pop up or if the C.E Light came back on, as my kind of truck has a habit of hiding issues. Sure enough, about 4 months down the road it popped back up. I called Milt's & Adrien remembered me & my truck and was ready to take it that afternoon. Once again he kept me up to date on what was going on with it, and every time my husband decided to have more work done on it (do an oil change, the shocks etc) he was more then willing & got it done quickly. On top of this he gave us a 15% discount because they currently had a coupon out for that, even though we didn't have the coupon ourselves. I brought my 2009 Mini Cooper Hardtop here after my check engine light popped on. Terese was my point of contact and she was incredibly helpful. She also owns a Mini Cooper and is very knowledgable of the delicate car. She helped me "run the codes" (basically a handheld device that plugs into your car and tells you a general idea of what's wrong, although not specific) and set up an appointment for the diagnosis. Everything ran smoothly and they were even able to give me a ride back home when I dropped off the car. Turns out the Mini needed an O2 sensor replacement which was ordered and installed in less than 24 hours. I picked up my car the next day and was back to my daily routine. I would definitely recommend Milt's Service Garage for their expertise in European cars, especially BMW's and Mini's. Had to have our car towed to this shop due to a blown radiator, and don't you know it had to happen on a Friday while getting to the grocery store. We were able to get the car to the shop before they closed and thankfully they were able to have it fixed by Saturday afternoon. No, I am not happy with their service. I was just charged $992 for a repairs on a car that should have cost me roughly $300. And to make matters worse, I WAS THE ONE WHO PROPERLY DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM Let me explain. My car, a 1992 Pontiac Grand Am was stalling, but ONLY after reaching operating temperature. I told the secretary to have the mechanic check 1) the temperature sensor and 2) the crankshaft position sensor, knowing both of these parts are temperature specific, and inexpensive to repair. The secretary listened well, took good notes and passed it all on to the mechanic. The problem is with the mechanic. He did a diagnosis and using old OBD codes (that is the codes found in the car's history), then he INSISTED on doing the most expensive repairs first. He justified it by saying something about a "Process" but what ever happened to the process of trying the least expensive thing first (to save the customer some money)? BOTH repairs I suggested were cheaper - and by a lot. And one of my suggestions turned out to be right. So I ended up paying for an Ignition Control Module, then a Mas Air Flow Sensor when apparently, my old ones were working just fine. And what did the problem turn out to be? The crankshaft position sensor - MY suggestion. When a customer brings his car to a mechanic, he is paying for the mechanic's professional knowledge. That is the reason we pay them $114 an hour. I feel like that was missing here, as the truth is even I can fix my car if I change everything. And while the owner swallowed some of the cost, I feel not enough to justify the errors and lack of professional knowledge on the part of his employee. P.S. Now my car runs fine when it is warm. It just has a rough idle ALL THE REST OF THE TIME (no doubt due to the mechanic fiddling around with the Ignition Control Module and the Mass Air Flow Sensor, when there was no need)! read more

I was looking for a reliable car mechanic shop that didn't belong to one of the generic companies for a simple oil change, and car maintenance. I am not very well educated when it comes to fixing my car. I came to Milt's Service because it had great reviews and is literally 5 minutes from my work and home. The atmosphere is very professional, and they know how to get things done. I had my oil change completed within a fairly quick time frame and they had also looked over to see if I had any maintenance problems with my car. Adrian the gentlemen at the desk, was very helpful and friendly. He spoke to me in a way where I understood what was going on with my car and gave me advice on how to maintain my car. The pricing is very reasonable and the good quality of work is something you have a hard time finding in this area. I believe this will be the mechanic's shop I will be going to for any issue. It also is very impressive the accreditation and work experience that each technician there has, and they weren't too shy to let us know that I am walking into a place where they are there for the customer and to give them the best quality of care at an affordable price, with a sense of humor that leaves you smiling. But I think what's most important is that they give you the trust that your car is going to be taken care of properly. Started coming to Milt's about 3 years ago. had a fixed budget and needed quite a bit of work done to a 1986 Porsche 911. Adrian and his team worked within the budget, and upgraded quite a number of items on the car, including the air-con. Saved me money on a several items. one part was frozen,, and he put it in the parts washer for over a week and freed it up,, and reused rather than buy new - who else would do that?? every other shop would just scrap the part,, and sink you for the new one. My car is due for a smog but "service engine soon" is illuminated and so I decided to call and asked if they could take a look at the car. I am expecting that the shop is very busy due to its numerous customers. Adrian took the time to still take my car that very same day. For others, they can just say come back next day or make an appointment. Upon arrival, I was told that they will run diagnostics and check what needs to be done. Sure enough, that afternoon, Adrian called me back and explain to me what is causing the problem. He emailed me the costs of each and every repair, itemizing labor and parts. Of course, in every repair, the costs will always be the main thing before they can even get the job started. In fine print of details is a huge plus for me. He explains what is the priority in order for my smog to pass. I agreed to have the catalytic converters replaced as well as o2 sensors of the vehicle. I left my car overnight, since the parts are not available yet. And next thing around 9am in the morning, I got a call that my car was done. I will recommend Milt's to my friends and family. Nowadays, it's really hard to have a trusted technician. Most of them will rip you off and cause more problems to your vehicle. They can even force or threaten customers in order to get their services. No wonder, great reviews from customers are here. Adrian's attention to detail to each customer and car makes me feel like he is really in his zone. Very professional, honest, willing to answer your questions, a man with one word, no attitude, very calm. He treats you with respect and does not act like a know-it-all guy, very humble. I am updating my review to clarify my situation. Like I said in my first post, I think Adrian is a nice guy, and a good mechanic. But, I had an engine that was destroyed because of a timing belt malfunction. I didn't even know that was possible. So what ended up happening was that I paid $900 for a new timing belt and water pump on an engine that was destroyed. I think the problem should have been diagnosed first. I can see where he was coming from. He was hoping that my engine was salvageable. Since I would need a new timing belt anyway, why not put in first? But, the engine had no compression. The damage should have been investigated before he put in the new belt and water pump for $900. So, I wasn't scammed. But I certainly paid for something I shouldn't have. I am upgrading my review to 2 stars. read more

The staff was friendly and easy to deal with, I was able to set up an appointment over the phone and quickly drop the car off when I came in. I didn't even know there was a first time customer coupon through yelp until they told me about it after I informed them that yelp was where I learned about the business! The pricing was fair and very straightforward and the service was waaaaaaayyyy faster than I expected, troubleshooting and repair was done by the end of the day! Long story short, my expectations were exceeded and I plan on coming back for any additional work, as well as recommending them to anyone that needs work done. These guys are great. Very professional, Adrian wrote up my order quickly and explained everything to me, including how complicated, oh, I mean, "special" my car is. I have had a few major services done, fuel pumps and tie-rods. There were done quickly and price was average and included the customer discount. The only thing lacking was not being able to have an onsite payment plan for major repairs. But how many mechanics can really offer that? Overall, quite pleased. read more
