The staff was super friendly and did a great job. I went in for the first time today for a standard pedicure and gel manicure and everyone there was extremely nice. The two ladies who did my manicure and pedicure were fast, sweet, and very good. I was in and out in 40 minutes (with an appt, although it was also a quiet time of day) and the price was good. $45 for the pedi and gel mani. I will definitely be back. read more

Experience was so-so. We had an appointment for 5 people, but there were only 4 people working and they were not able to start on us when we arrived. We were there for over 2 hours. The manicurist cut my finger while trimming my cuticles, and I have a large scab next to that nail 3 days later. Hoping it doesn't get infected. I got a gel manicure, french with gold tips rather than white. She did one thin coat of gold and that's it; you can barely see it! Very overpriced ($35 for gel french manicure) considering it's barely noticeable, there was a long wait, and I got injured. read more

I've been to Mimi Nails multiple times and I am usually highly satisfied with my experience. I never make an appointment so I always do walk-in and maybe wait around ten minutes at the most. Well, I was in need for a new nail salon. After checking out all the reviews I decided that I will check out Mimi Nails. Pros: I was a walk-in and had no problem getting a mani & pedi. I was the only customer there so that was great. After all, I was not in the mood to wait very long. The staff are very friendly, they all spoke to me and made me laugh while I was there. I have nothing bad to say about that part. Cons: Now this is not what I liked, as I was greeting I asked for a full set and was told that the lady who does them is not in and they can call them. OK? So out of all the people there only 1 person does the full set. I declined and said I will just get the shellac nail. They tried to up-sell me and were all around me like I was at a flea market. I was so confused and overwhelmed. After 3 days my polish started to chip. Yes, I paid $35 for my mani to get chipped polish after 3 days. That is a no no. This is suppose to last up to a month. Where I am from, TX, the salon used un-opened, sterilized tools, that are all brand new. I noticed that I did not get that here, they use the same tools for everyone. That is an open invitation for an infection. I was not happy about that at all. The last thing that I will mention is that, after my Pedi was completed. I had to ask them for a pair of those cheap slippers. WHY, that should have been automatic. In all I paid $85, including tip, for so so service. I am still looking for a new salon, I don't want to chance getting an infection as a previous customer had mentioned. read more

Just moved to the area and this placed looked very clean and everyone was friendly. They did my manicure while I sat in the chair getting a pedicure which made it uncomfortable as I had to bend and twist to the side. The owner did my nails and made me bleed on two different nails. The woman who did my pedicure took her time and did a terrific job. As for cleanliness, they definitely use the same tools on everyone regardless of hands or feet. After my manicure was finished she dumped the COLD water in the foot basin which was right on my foot. My fingernail clippings and shavings are all over me and the chair, ew! They offered some up-sells but weren't pushy when I declined. Good prices, and my nails do look good, minus the two cuts on my cuticles. read more

It was honestly the worst manicure I have ever had. The lady was rude beyond belief, and yanked on my arm. Every single nail was crooked and not done well, she smudged the paint. When I asked to have it fixed she was very rude about it and said that I asked for it that way and wouldn't fix it. I will never come back and I would never recommend this place to anyone. read more

BEST nail salon in the area!! I tried 2 others after moving back to Chapel Hill that were so-so but after going to Mimi's, it's the only place I'll have my nails done now. Sean did "powder dip" nails for me which most salons here don't do. Sean is meticulous about getting the nails perfectly even etc. and does an excellent job. It was my first time having powder dip and they are hands down the most natural looking nails ever with no UV lights or drilling the nail-beds and are thin like your natural nails with just regular polish instead of the usual thicker look regular gel gives - I'm totally hooked! It's cool to watch application of one thin coat clear polish then dipping finger in powder & like magic they're painted! I'm a week out & they still look shiny & great & strong like regular gel. I won't have anything else now that I've found these. Mimi has pedi disposable bowl liners too which not all salons have but after friends getting toenail fungus I won't go anywhere without liners so was glad to find they have them. The prices are maybe just $2-3 more than the others I've been to but totally worth it! read more

Blown away! One step into the salon and that's how I felt. The space inside is large and CLEAN!! I was so impressed and the layout is fabulous. The feel of the salon is relaxing and serene so you actually get to relax while having your service done. I had an acrylic removal with a gel mani and it went smoothly which surprised me because usually it's painful and rushed especially with having powder acrylic color. I don't get my nails done very often because they chip almost immediately. When I heard about Shellac I definitely had to try it. I went with a friend on a Wednesday evening. I got shellac while she had a traditional manicure. Mine definitely took twice as long as hers, but I kind of expected that (plus they also had a Gone with the Wind marathon on the salon TV, so that kept us well entertained!). They had quite a few different colors of shellac to choose from, and the manicurist was friendly and asked several times if I was happy with the color I chose. When I was done, My nails were perfectly dry and I did not have to worry about going into my purse for my wallet. One week later my nails are still not chipped, and I have a feeeling the polish will "grow out" before having a chance to chip. Yes, it's a $30 manicure, but since the regular manicure at $15 would only last me 3 days tops, it is well worth the price for me to have a manicure that lasts up to 3 weeks. read more

It's like so many salons.....when you're new they do a great job but after awhile they become lazy and do bad work. Mimi likes to talk on the phone or gab to her co-workers more than pay attention to what she's doing. You end up being cut.... or she doesn't file enough so that your nails don't last 2 weeks. The polish is not down to the cuticle so when they start growing out they look horrible. The male nail tech does a consistantly great job but you can't always depend on getting him. It depends on her mood and what she wants to do as to who you get. Not a good way to run a business. read more

I have been going to Mimi's for a year and 1/2 and the quality of pedicures have been hit and miss. But it's convenient for me so I've continued coming here. However I've decided NOT TO RETURN because of the treatment I experienced today. I went in for my usual pedicure and was given the male nail tech. Since having gotten an infection in a toenail several years ago I always request that the nail tech disinfect each tool before using it on me. When I requested this he gave me a very grumpy look but said "ok". He put alcohol on the first instrument he used and went to work. Then he picked up the nail poker thing that they clean under your nails with (don't know the name). I didn't notice if he disinfected it so I asked and he threw a fit! He proceeded to berate me for asking him when I can "see very well that this place is clean" as he waved his hand around the salon. Well sadly the salon I was infected by appeared very clean as well. Mimi came over and seemed timid and reluctant to stop his outburst. I found this not only completely unprofessional but very intimidating. My request was not at all out of line. When someone is using a tool to scrape toe jam out of 20 different people a day, sanitation should be a number 1 priority. And if a customer is requesting sanitation in front of them the tech should comply without any hesitation to satisfy the customer. This place charges way too much to behave this way. The very least Mimi could have done is to reprimand the tech and reassure me that I would be treated respectfully. Mimi finished my nails and it was the quickest pedicure I've ever had. My guess is she knew I'd not be coming back and she didn't want to waste her time. read more

LOVE this place.! Great location, clean, consistent and great atmosphere.! Mimi and her husband do a great job remembering return customers and accommodate easily. Recently, their daughter started working there and she is also friendly and good at what she does. These people seem to work very hard. It bums me out to see all the complaining people do because the employees offer extra services. I don't know what is so offensive about that. They ARE business owners afterall. Do you also get upset when a waiter offers dessert..?? I am not related in anyway to these people, just a loyal customer that watches rude obnoxious women walk in expecting to have their butt kissed. If you look at the people who are making negative comments, they have posted 12+ negative comments for other businesses too. hmmmm.... coincidence..? I was in a crunch and needed my nails done so I checked out this place as it was close to where I was working. NEVER AGAIN! The lady who did my shellac manicure took over an hour and a half. I told her multiple times I needed to leave and she continued to work very slowly. Not only did she take a long time, but she aggressively cut my cuticles and made me bleed on three fingers. After Mimi had a client come in after me, she completed the same service to her client, she came over to see the progress. She spoke in another language, but from her reaction and facial expressions, she was not happy with the work. Then she said in English, "Oh very pretty! You like?" It was horrible looking. The color was uneven, I was bleeding and it took a hour and a half. I was not happy and just wanted to get out of there! After a week, my nails need to be redone. This place is not worth visiting!
