Have only been here for bubble tea, but that alone is enough to make me come back over and over again. It was delicious the first time it came out (I ordered to-go), but after I had taken a few sips, Mina comes back out, asks how it is and then asks if she can take it back to the kitchen and put more ice in it. She put so much tea and boba in there was no room for ice! She then asked if the sweetness was okay because she'd be happy to change that, too! Great customer service and delicious bubble tea (custom sweetness and perfectly-cooked tapioca pearls). The only reason for no 5-star rating is because I haven't actually eaten there, yet! read more

Mina's was GREAT! Some of the best Thai food I've ever had! Pad Thai, Salad Rolls, and Thai Iced Tea were awesome!! Great service when I sat outside because indoor seating wasn't open yet. Awesome little gem in salem. Great food and Mina the owner is really nice. She came out and sat with us for a bit and chatted. The pad Thai, drunken noodle, green curry, yakisobo noodles, and smoothies were all amazing. Service can be a little slow when it's busy but this is a true local place with great food. I didn't trust myself for wanting to find good thai food in Salem... I finally decided to just TRY to get a simple and classic pad thai dish to go. Saw relatively good reviews for this place so I just went for it. Overall, good texture, bad taste. Didn't really have that pad thai flavor... or taste like pad thai...... Had Mina's for the first time this week. I ordered take-out since that is all that is available in town due to covid-19. Not sure if the food was affected due to the circumstances. I got 4 dishes to sample a variety and have leftovers. Two of the four dishes were good and I was disappointed with the other two. The pad Thai was the pink/red one. It didn't have much flavor and was quite dry. Personally I prefer the saucy brown pad Thai that other places serve. This was disappointing as it had looked good in the pictures. The pineapple fried rice was also on the not good list. The rice lacked a lot of flavor, it had the color but not flavor. The pineapple was grilled separately and placed on top of the rice which I thought was a bit strange as it didn't add flavor to the actual rice. The drunken noodles were good as well as the yellow curry. Both of those I would eat again and tasted similar to other good Thai food places I have tried. All of her dishes also lacked meat. Had to look for it amidst the noodles and veggies. Again, not sure if circumstances affected the food but I will most likely be going elsewhere for Thai food in Salem. read more

Ordered takeout as I was impressed with Mina's efforts to reach out by social media and other avenues to maintain her business, and want to continue to support these local folks as much as possible. My second time ordering here. Yellow curry was full of vegetables well cooked. With chicken that was tender and not overcooked or dried out. Accompanying rice was also well cooked and seasoned well. Salad rolls were so so. rice wrapper a bit dry, so a bit too chewy and not wrapped too well. But her Peanut Sauce was one of the best I've had. Quickly made, quick pickup process from the side window. My daughter had a Boba tea and said it was the best she'd had. I think posting the menu outside may be helpful as there were a couple there wanting to order but didn't know how to look online. Looking forward to going back. read more

Stopped in to pick up 4 boba teas and they were terrible. :( The bobas were hard and the tea was weak. Not to mention they were small and expensive! While waiting for the teas we looked at the menu and felt they were over priced. Mina herself is a gem---you can't find someone that cares more about what comes out of her kitchen than Mina! Ask and she can create anything you want or adapt anything on the menu--she is both gifted and cares. We get take out here often (once a week, usually) and the portions are huge. One of my kids loves the chicken chow mein and bacon fried rice. He says it even reheats well (even as a hungry teen he has leftovers with the portions). I eat gluten-free and Mina is always accommodating. I love the pad thai with either shrimp or chicken--it is consistently wonderful. Over the past year we've sampled everything but the American dishes and it has never been a miss. I buy gift certificates as gifts so others can discover Mina's. It is in a location that you have to look for and the dining area is small, but she is very hospitable. This is a gem in South Salem and tucked away, but if you are tired of the wanna-be-Portland-hipster-oldboysclub-downtown-Salem places---this is perfect for really good, solid food without the hipster attitude. read more

I love this cafe! The food is fresh and wholesome and the bubble tea is excellent. There are little signs on the wall that have compliments and doodles drawn by customers (mainly children) and they are soo cute. The owner was also more than willing to adjust my orders to be vegan, too, which I'm really grateful for. Consistently delicious. Everything is so fresh and flavorful- between my sister and I, I think we have tried just about everything on the menu. Nothing has ever let us down. Today is my birthday and thought it would be nice to try somewhere new to eat, but I was highly disappointed after eating when it came time to pay because of some confusion between Mina's Cafe and Groupon regarding typos (which is not my problem) that sort of became an issue when redeeming at dinner. For instance, on the Groupon website the $20 worth $40 is supposed to be for four or more people BUT on the actual webpage it says "two or more people." When redeeming at dinner, Mina pointed out the typo was caused by Groupon and basically told me I need to handle it with Groupon. She then blew me off and just disappeared. Fortunately, a young lady came to my table and handled the situation. After everything was paid for, I peeked at the receipt one more time and noticed Mina overcharged us! W'eve tried a couple other local Thai food places nearby, but always come back to Mina's. Unlike other places, if there is something on the menu that you like, it is consistently that good. Smaller menu, but great quality. Each member of our group has their own favorite, and we know we will like what we order. I've never tried the American Food items, but I've heard that those are good too. If you are going for the first time, be aware that the listed address is on Commercial Street SE, but MIna's is actually a little up the hill on Browning Ave. (about 100 yards west of Commercial St, on the right, at the far end of a small strip mall area. The stir fry was average. The Salem Philly was not good at all. This place has sub-par dinner style American food. Kind of pricey for the quality. I probably would not return. Service needs some work filling water glasses and checking on customers was non existent. We were told great things about the place by friends before going. read more

Good pho, great customer service. I've had a lot of pho, and this is one of the few places I will repeat.

Owner is very sweet and talkative. Service is good if you are the only patron. On various visits, we've either been served right away or neglected for 10 minutes. The food is so-so. Pad Thai is not my favorite. Drunken noodles are delicious. Can't comment on the sandwiches which seem misplaced for an Asian restaurant. read more

This place is literally a HIDDEN gem of Salem. It's a small little cafe that has Thai and special faire. It is adorable, but tiny and hard to find. Absolutely delicious egg and bacon fried rice. She has boba smoothie and their are the real deal bubble teas. Will be back for a second round and will get the house made mango cheesecake. read more

The stir fry peanut chicken was terrific. Perfect ratios. Mina is a delightful enthusiastic person too. Her takes on classic Thai dishes is spot on. The crispy egg rolls for an appetizer was perfectly cooked. My son had the salem steak sandwich. It looked and smelled delicious. The fries he said were crispy yet tender inside. The cheese cake and mango ice cream sounded good so we tried it. Good stuff. I think everyone in Salem should show Mina's love. read more

Great Reuben sandwiches! Pleasant surprise, I was looking up Reuben sandwiches for my city and Mina's came up with a Facebook page for today's special being a Reuben...came, saw it was a Thai restaurant, but pleasantly surprised! the Reuben is not on the menu but Mina sure knows how to cook it.. as good as the Irish pub (see my other reviews) in Newport Oregon. for those looking for this gem of a restaurant, its on the side of the strip mall where donatello's is, next to northern lights. enjoy!!! read more

Great Peanut Sauce! If that is not enough for you then you might want to consider the Reuben sandwich that I ordered off of the daily specials. Super quick for take-out at lunch and quaint for a laid back dinner. Will definitely go back again. read more

What a great surprise! This place is hard to spot. But seek it out. The menu is an unusual mix of Thai and American. A friend and I caught lunch there today. I had a Reuben sandwich with the house cole slaw. Not a regular offering, but evidently an occasional special. One of the best Reubens I've had! The cole slaw had a Thai spin, and was fabulous. I opted for the cole slaw over fries. I later saw fries come out on orders that went to other tables. Had I seen them before ordering, I might not have been able to resist -- they looked like they would be excellent. My friend had pad Thai. He gave it a strong thumb's up. Our server appeared to be the owner. She was super upbeat and very efficient. They serve dinner too. Can't wait to try it for dinner, and to come back to try more of the lunch offerings. read more

We totally stumbled across Mina's based on a nearby recommendation. Absolutely AWESOME!! We had the yellow curry chicken which was fabulous. Being a bit early for lunch we stopped in and after lunch had a chance to visit with the owner. She was very personable and shared her brief experience in the restaurant business. She told us she has been there for three years and yet we have never been able to experience her food until now which was fantastic. She was sharing with us some of her ideas for future menu items which sounded very tasty. This will definitely be a place for we will return too for very tasty Thai food!! read more

Great bubble tea. The spring rolls are great although last time the sauce wasn't the normal peanut sauce and that was a bummer.

Best Pad Thai in town. This is my 4th time here and I just had the BBQ pulled pork and it's really good. French fries are the best. Shrimp salad rolls with peanut sause is excellent. Crispy pork and shrimp egg rolls are delicious. Fried cheesecake with ice cream is also a family favorite. Come check Mina's out!! You won't leave hungry and you won't be disappointed. read more
