Great Food and awesome customer service. It was during their lunch special from 11-3pm and not a lot of people so it was nice and peaceful. I got the #17 which was pork fried rice with egg, peppers and onions and ordered it spicy! Super delish! We also order Teriyaki Salmon and side of veggies which was also delicious! Food: Appetizer - Crispy Coconut Shrimp w/ sweet and sour sauce was perfect! They added thin strips of carrots which was a nice touch. Entree - Crispy Basil Chicken that was well cooked and came with Jasmine rice separately. It wasn't the same type of crispy as the coconut shrimp but good nonetheless. Definitely a strong teriyaki taste which was a little over powering for my pallet but the jasmine rice helped blend the flavors better. Service: They were open early during their second shift which starts at 4:30pm and the lady was very nice and hospitable! Ambience: Atmosphere was a calm jazzy feel and very spacious, but I ordered to-go and didn't have to wait too long for my order. read more

Edit: After ordering from this place a few times due to the amount of mistakes and the fact that I ordered pad see ew and they gave me dry thin pad Thai noodles with no gravy sauce I had to change my rating. Never, have we ordered chicken pad thai from a restaurant & not only did it smell like throw up, it even had that color. The flavor... Well, I'll be honest at literally only had 1 bite each.. We almost threw up, because it's hard to eat something that smells like puke! So, we ended up boxing it up & setting it outside! Got in the truck & left to find anything that might take the taste away from our mouths! Not sure how we didn't throw up, but we were sick to our stomachs after that one! This review is strictly for the Tom Yum soup. While the soup had good flavor, if I was to do a blind taste test, Tom Yum wouldn't be in the top 5 types of soup I thought it was. So many flavors that make Tom Yum delicious, like lemongrass, kaffir lime, fish sauce, etc. were completely absent. I've had more authentic bowls made from store bought paste. If I'm ordering Tom Yum, I want Tom Yum... not a random red broth soup with chili peppers and green onion. I haven't tried any other dishes from this restaurant but if one can't get a simple soup right, I've no hope that anything else will be authentic. read more

Thai food has such incredible flavors but it took a few visits to find the right dishes for my wife and my palette. Discovering the brown rice was the beginning of our changing opinion of Thai Beer's food. Burgundy is the color of this toothsome rice that makes a sturdy base for Crispy Basil Chicken that keeps you wanting the next bite. Our other favorite is Khao Soi or Curried Noodles with spaghetti noodles, choice of meat, sprouts, a few raw shallot slices, crunchy topping and a squeeze of lime. Oh and orangy-yellow curry sauce. I order Pad See Ew from this restaurant & my friend ordered chicken teriyaki. We dined in and sat at a booth. The service and waitress was very polite and attentive. The pad see ew noodles were delicious. I love the way they cooked it. The chicken teriyaki was slightly on the bland side for my friend's dish. Ambiance of the restaurant had nice decor, and not too crowded which made it a nice date spot. Some tables had a strong bleach smell, which was odd but at least you know things were clean. First time trying Thai Beer, the exter and interior are fine, but the food was excellent. We ordered the salad rolls (they were fresh, peanut sauce was yummy and a generous amount). Coconut Shrimp was very flavorful ( will order again). We ordered takeout from Thai Beer. The dishes that we ordered were the papaya salad, evil jungle prince curry with pork, lemon grass chicken, and pad kee mao with tofu + sticky rice. The portions were large than we expected. Usually this amount of food would satisfy the two of us. But it was so much, that we had left overs for lunch the following day. I thought all the dishes were good. My favorite was the lemon grass chicken, since it was simple. A grilled chicken breast served with a peanut sauce. I really liked the peanut sauce. I couldn't taste the lemon grass marinade though. The staff were very friendly and attentive when I picked up the order. They provided me with additional plates and utensils after I asked. read more

The portions are good enough that my 16 year old is able to feel full. I order at least once per week and this review is long overdue but they say better late than never. I remember loving this restaurant when I was a kid but was sadly disappointed with my order today. I had Pad Thai with tofu and it is the worst Pad Thai I've had in a while. It wasn't very flavorful and the vegetables were overcooked. My dad had Pad Thai with pork and said the meat was very dry. Yet another of my go-to take-out hot-spots. If I have a cold, or clogged sinuses, I will have the chicken Tom Yum soup, extra spicy. This is almost good enough to be sold on the cold 'n flu isle of your local grocery mart as a remedy. Mother's chicken soup be damned, this is a knock out. Also topping my list of delicious eats is the #25: a mixture of ground chicken, peppers, onions, and super secret spices. I will grab a large bowl, fill it with rice, and pour the concoction over the top. It is most excellent this way. 90% of the time I do take-out, as Thai Beer is notorious for rather awful table service. I do not know why this is, but it is something that has just been a fact of life for the last 10 years or so. If you do choose to stay for a sit-down, the restaurant is average sized and the décor is nothing to call home about, but they both get the job done. The area is clean, tidy, and tables are cleaned up without too much of a wait after the seated have left. Counter service is pretty fast, and I'd say that the majority of sales are take-out, judging from the constant flow of orders picked up. Of the two locations, one on Lancaster Drive and the other in West Salem, I'd say visit the one on Lancaster first. I've never really tasted a huge difference between either, but I like the physical property of Lancaster more. If I were rating the food alone it would get 4 stars. But a combination of all factors leads me to tag it as a 3. read more

The food just wasn't that great.. The pad Thai was very dry and didn't have a good flavor, or even a normal pad Thai flavor. It had a smoky flavor and tasted more like a dry BBQ chicken and noodle dish.. It didn't even have limes to squeeze on top, it just didn't have any flavors you'd expect from regular chicken pad Thai. The peanut sauce wasn't the best either, it was very thick and very oily. The mango sticky rice was a disappointment as well.. the coconut sauce was very soupy and messy, not thick like all other ones I've tried. And the rice in the mango sticky rice had an odd gritty texture.. The customer service was good, I ordered ahead online and it was ready well before the projected time. Had a take out order here. Not too bad. We ordered the green papaya salad, Pad Kha, Evil Jungle Prince, and the Lemon Grass chicken. The papaya salad was ok but I think it just needed a little more fish sauce to balance out the vinegar in it. My favorite was the noodles as it had the right amount of umami flavor to it. The Evil Jungle Prince was Ok, but I think it could have used a little more spice to it. The Lemon Grass chicken was very tasty , especially when dipping it with that peanut sauce. read more

I don't know if they got a new cook or what but when we went a couple days ago all our food was so bland it was really disappointing. We stopped here on the way back to Portland from a long weekend trip, and we were so glad we did. The food was incredible and we got huge portions for the price. We originally ordered takeout but decided to take a break from driving to eat in the restaurant.
