I've been here with my family 5-6 times over the past few years as our daughter attends the local University. Overall, pretty decent. But tonight was quite disappointing. My daughter and I each ordered off the special "summer BBQ" menu: I had the Memphis pork sandwich and she had the pork shoulder tacos. My sandwich was described on the menu as "served open-faced on sourdough". My plate arrived, and I could barely find the meat. Half a sandwich, with three small slices of dry pork with no BBQ sauce. Lots of waffle fries, and big cups of cole slaw and baked beans...but vanishingly little pork between two half-slices of what is best described as Texas toast. Yikes. Honestly it all tasted OK, but the relative proportions of items on the plate was ridiculous. And my daughter's tacos were straight-up not good...pork shoulder was tasteless and the accompanying pico de gallo was so wet the tortillas quickly became really soggy. My wife's pizza was the saving element of the family meal. So...disappointing food overall. We'll give it another try, but we'll be sure to order off the standard menu next time. read more

This restaurant does not like Black people at all. An order was called in to be picked up and once we arrived, the attitude of the staff was horrible. They were frowning at us and did not greet us. Plus. I will order was not ready at the time that they said it was. We had to request Management to find out what was the delay on our food and when we spoke to members of the restaurant, they frown at us walked away laughing therefore we were not treated properly and I do not recommend this restaurant.. The staff was very unprofessional, and you can tell that they did not like having to cater to Black people. Our experience was horrible. They were unwelcoming and looked at us like we smelled our even came from a different planet. No steak was available but no signs at entry. They are known for steak. We didn't know this until after we all ordered steaks and waitress came back (15 minutes later) and said no steak. Waited well over an hour for food to be delivered with only one visit by waitress. She didn't say what the wait and only brought 2 water refills. Food was acceptable, kids meals were piping hot. Couldn't discount due to wait, said they could remove one meal or give free desert. Asked for one to be removed. 15 minutes later another waitress said they couldn't remove a meal (because we were taking it home) so we ordered desert. 15 minutes later... we still are waiting for desert... Poor wait service. Poor communication. Poor compensation for lack luster evening. And jt was grandmas birthday. read more

Four of us came early for New Years Eve dinner. The place wasn't busy as we ordered drinks to start. We put our order in and our salads came to us and well beyond half way done with them before the 1st order of drinks came and the whiskeys must have been sitting for a long time because the ice was barely there. Dinner arrived and my walleye and mashed potatoes were cold. This is twice in a row since we have been there and the quality of the food and the cocktails have been horrendous. I was pleasantly surprised by this restaurant located in the Best Western. I had traveled all day and needed something to eat so I popped in here. The restaurant was similar to a mountaintop lodge to some degree but I didn't mind it. The server was very kind and patient as I was in need of a vegan dish. She stated they could modify most dishes but I settled on the lettuce wraps. It didn't take very long to get my food and it was pretty good. Not the best, but certainly not the worst food. I ate all my food and ordered a side of fries which were good. I enjoyed my time here and hope to come back the next time I am in the area. read more

This restaurant is in the Ramkota hotel. It's also a destination place for the locals. I understand why. The food is good. The menu is interesting. The employes are nice and friendly. I liked the bar food I had. I sat in the bar area at a high table. I got some ideas from the waitress and she was right on target. Two apps. One with steak tips. Really good. Came rare as I asked for. Drinks were a measured shot. Sigh. But the bartender was nice enough. I'd eat here again. read more

Walked in fairly late and went straight to the bar. The bartender was incredibly friendly and helpful. He even double checked with us to make sure we didn't need anything from the kitchen before it closed. They had a few specials, but I chose a local porter that was delicious. If you are in the hotel, or the neighborhood, this is a solid choice. read more

Sunday brunch was not impressive at all. They had a very limited choice of food and the quality of the food was bad. Five of us at the table and only one person liked the food the rest of us didn't not. Sioux Falls Minerva's is 100 times better! This restaurant does not deserve the Minerva's name! Atmosphere was very nice and service was friendly. I felt like our waitress really cared about our experience. I had cajun seafood pasta with Wasta Reisling wine, a sunset martini. Pasta was good but I would have liked a little more spice. Martini and wine were both fantastic. My husband had salmon salad with Thai lettuce wraps and a long island ice tea. His salad was ok but the salmon was a little dry. The Thai wraps were good with a variety of sauces. The waitress ask if we were there for a special occasion so we told her it was our anniversary. After dinner she brought out a complimentary lemon cake for dessert that was fantastic. It was light and fluffy with a nice mix of tart and sweet. read more

Worst Anniversary dinner ever!!! Traveled over an hour to go there because they showed a Filet on the menu, my wife even asked when making a reservation and was told they did have the filet in question on the menu. When it was not on the menu, she didn't know what to order so I ordered some onion rings to give her more time to decide. The server brought the onion rings but no serving plates to eat them on, after asking for plates we realized we had no silverware or napkins so I asked for them when she brought the plates. After waiting way to long I went and found them at the servers station and helped myself-I did this while our server was standing there and she never acknowledged my presence. The rings were good but we never did get our salads and my wife's meal was inedible which she told the server when she offered a to go box. The server told us she would tell the kitchen. She had ordered the beef tips medium rare and there was not a bit of pink in any that she tried to eat. They only offer mashed potatoes and they were dry and cold by the time we found a server to bring us butter. I would not recommend this fine diner to anybody, I didn't even get my dessert because by this time I was so disappointed with dinner that all I wanted to do was leave. I did tell the hostess on the way out that it was the worst anniversary dinner ever and it was our 44th and had been looking forward to it, she said she was sorry, like that would somehow make my anniversary better! read more

On our wedding anniversary over a year ago, we were treated badly. I made a phone call, and the ball was dropped and we just haven't been back, plenty of other places to eat in Aberdeen. I do use their catering services and meeting rooms, Matt Harmel will go out of his way to make sure everything is perfect. So on Wednesday we took our granddaughter out to celebrate her 16th birthday, shortly after noon, two people standing at the podium looked up and said just find a place in the bar. Well, ok. Dining room appeared to have plenty of room, but we'll sit in the bar. Plus side was the bartender was extremely personable and fun. Food was much better than our last trip. read more

So awhile back I posted a great review on a house Italian salad I had here. Yesterday I went here at around noon and there was a decent amount of people there but it wasn't too crowded. Anyway, I ordered the house Italian salad for lunch and both me and my grandmother had stated I was a vegetarian and did NOT want meat on my salad altogether about three times. Low and behold 30 minutes later, my long awaited salad comes without the bread basket that normally comes with it. The waiter then goes back to get my bread basket (which has only 4 morsels that can hardly be called bread) and hard unspreadable butter. As I look down at my salad I see salami hidden beneath layers of lettuce and is scattered throughout the salad. After picking out almost all the shredded salami and trying to eat a bit of it, I find a disgusting black worm-like thing on my lettuce leaf. God only knows what that was. At this point I'm nauseated. The waiter returns and my grandmother says that my salad had meat in it when I requested NO MEAT. As I quote he said, "Oh, sorry" and proceeds to walk away. Will never return here again. I would not recommend this place if you don't want to ingest either worms or possible fecal matter. read more

I specifically installed Yelp just so I can tell you about the the worst experience I've ever had at any restaurant my entire life! The service was ridiculous. I was there with my best friend. He ordered first and he must have read the name of item wrong the bartender who took our order seemed irritated right off the bat. Gave us an attitude while turning the menu and asking what it was he wanted then she looked at me and rolled her eyes. He paid for his and I decided I wanted the brownie with ice cream after seeing someone else's and I it looked amazing. After ordering mine, my friend hands her a 20 and we got 3dollars and some change back..I asked her for the reciept her response was that oh I threw it away already....so we asked how much the desert was and she told us 6 something...called her out on it and got another 10 from her. Normally I would let that stuff go but with the bad attitude I just couldn't. My desert comes out first, brownie was cold and dry like they just pulled it out of the fridge and drizzled chocolate on it, however the ice cream was good. My friends meal we waited over an hour for and all the sauce was spilled in the bag and his pasta was completely dried out! Disgusting extremely disappointed won't be going back! Well, that was awful. I waited At the bar, the i felt very unnoticed for about 5-7 minutes. Ordered food, while feeling like i was an annoyance, waited a while, asked for my food to go, again acted like i was annoyance. Friends showed up, and one gets short changed, he asks to order desert the barTender rolls her eyes. Got my food, asked for no tomato, there was tomato, and 4 shrimp. Pretty awful experience. Very friendly. Good food. Chislik a little overdone but steaks and suprisingly salad very tasty. Watch out for the police on the street outside looking for drinkers. But if you don't drink and drive you are better off anyway. read more

This is a excellent for a hotel lounge and food service. A nice selection of pastas,pizzas and steaks. The kids menu for 7 bucks includes beverage and small ice cream. It located close to the number 1 tourist destination in the area called Story Book Land.If there for lunch the pick 2 for under 10 dollars is a deal.Enjoy Aberdeen its downtown has a lot to offer with a great Free museum. read more

As a foodie, this is about as good of food as you can get in Aberdeen. The atmospher is pretty good as well.

My husband and I have eaten here quite a few times. One of the times was for Valentine's day, and we had a steak dinner special. It was amazing. My husband swears it's one of the best steaks he's ever had! We also like going here for happy hour, because their prices can't be beat! Our favorite thing to order is the pizza. It's a flame cooked pizza and the crust/ whole pizza is just awesome. There are also many other appetizers you can order and they're all great. I'm from out of town, wanted a great salad, saw the reviews for Minerva's and said let's go....WHAT A NIGHTMARE. A guest who arrived first, ordered Spinach & Artichoke Appetizer for us to start. At $9.00, it came in a tiny saucer - not even close to a normal appetizer serving dish - with a teaspoon and 4 small round toasts. There was no more than 3 full teaspoons - beverage teaspoons - of dip! A ridiculous presentation. It's one of those things where I so surprised by what they served that I was too embarrassed to say anything bec. it was that ridiculous. I ordered my entree before I had seen what the Spinach Artichoke dip looked like...So the Spinach, Chicken, Cranberry Salad. GEEZ...the chicken had an odd texture and the combination of mandarin, pecans, dried-cran and cran dressing was - no exaggeration - gross and all kinds of wrong. And to boot - it wasn't the size of an entree salad and again for what they charged? -- what the heck is going on in this place?! Again, I was just so embarrassed to complain bec. I picked the restaurant based on reviews here. No complaints about our server - she was everything a good server should be but the "wild nest" hairdo is a no-no in any restaurant. This doesn't happen often, but I felt angry and insulted to be served food like that. And the prices - what a joke and double insult. Fix your menu. If you are going to charge those kind of prices, have the decency to use high quality ingredients, test your recipes, and serve the right portions. read more

We were a group of 6 and arrived about 5 PM. Escorted to our table and seated with menus quickly. Orders were placed and not that many people there. As we visited and waited, and waited and waited and waited ...... finally after about 1/2 hour the waiter was called over and inquired where our food was. Someone FORGOT to put the order in !!! Finally the food arrived, it was just OK but subpar for the price. The only apology offered was a free dessert. IF I had not been with a party of others, I would have left right after calling the waiter over inquiring about our food order. No intention of ever returning. read more

Had a business lunch here and the staff was very accommodating. They happily provided us enough space and privacy for ten guests. Additionally, they provided prompt service on our orders and drinks. The food took awhile to get out, but conversation was flowing so it was not a big deal. The food was alright- not bad, not great. I went with a salad which was a little more expensive and did not live up to expectations of a costly salad. Other orders seemed to have the same issue. I would happily try the restaurant again (if I were passing through again, which is unlikely) and try their dinner menu. read more
