(Note: They brought in takeout, so I cannot comment specifically on the restaurant itself, only the food.) * The meat was passable but not particularly seasoned. Small thin cuts as usual. * The noodles? No thanks. I ordered ho fun (thick) but would expect mei fun to be similar. They were a little sweet and sticky that night, and since I didn't finish everything I brought back some noodles home for leftovers. Well, the next day, they were a giant glob. So-so. The "Ginger Chicken" was more like ginger string beans with hints of chicken. Wan-tons were gummy. Hot and sour soup had nice spice and good ingredients but lacked vinegar to be sour. My wife and I moved to Walden from long island ny. After searching high and low for good Chinese food, to no avail, we were gonna chalk it up that there's no good Chinese food up here. Then we tried this little place in Walden village, Ming Jie's house. So far, everything we've tried from them is excellent! Not only that but they're polite, they deliver, they never screwed up our order and if you go to pick up, they're not cheap with their condiments and fortune cookies. They leave them out for you to take whatever you need. I highly recommend this place. By the way, you can dine in. They have a small dining room..... not the prettiest. There's a wall that looks unfinished from when they had to make provisions during the pandemic, and they never took it down. We were visiting family in the area and we were hungry from the long drive. We stopped to pick up some takeout and we were very happy with our choices. My sister ordered a boneless spare ribs combination and I ordered the chicken lo mein combination. Other than the steamed dumplings , which we found too doughy the food was great. We have tried the 3 Chinese places in Walden, and it's probably the least tasty. We only chose it because it was open and delivered on a Sunday, the other two choices either were closed or didn't offer delivery. Ming Jie's told us 25 minutes for pick up, 45 for delivery. Our delivery actually took 1.5 hours. The food was super bland. I ordered sweet and sour chicken, crab rangoon, and tried one of my husband's fried wontons and scallion pancakes - blah flavor all around. My husband liked his chicken and broccoli dinner's flavor, and the fact that it wasn't drowning in oil/sauce. That's probably the only reason I'm giving it 2 stars. This is my favorite place to get any kind of food. The scallion pancake, the sesame chicken, the mei fun, the lo mein, it's all always delicious and worth the extra pennies spent. I've come and sat down to eat with friends, and the service is always prompt and polite. You'll stop into grab some food here in the winter, and end up sitting down. You'll find yourself laughing with your friends and dipping your scallion pancake a little too long into the brown vinegar and you'll look up to see outside the window that it's started snowing lightly. The charm of the little village outside is so cozy, and the warmth of the hot tea your drinking is the most comforting thing. Anyway I can't recommend this place enough. read more

This place has been in Walden for quite a few years. I figured I would give it a try. I ordered a sesame chicken combo platter and a side of Vegetables lo mein. It was $19. Thought that was a bit expensive for Chinese food. Being last week I had Chinese in Newburgh and the combo platter was $6. But anyways. I think I'm spoiled by eating chinease in the city. The menu is the same as every Chinese spot. The egg roll was a bit dry. Def not fresh made and hand rolled. The rice was a bit dry also. The chicken was good. I mostly ate the chicken. The veggie lo mein was the best thing. It was not swimming in sauce. lite in sauce. The veggies had a great crunch to them. Normally a lo mein can feel heavy after you eat it. Like taking a nap. This was not the case. I felt good. I would order that again. Again the chicken was good. But the rice was dry. Maybe it was just a bad night. I also have to remember this is not MR chow or TAO. The food is good, no doubt - but be careful what you order. Most places that offer a combo special do a good job of making it worth the money. Unfortunately that is not the case this time. You will actually get LESS food if you order the combo than if you just order the main dish separately! I usually order some chicken curry, but this time I ordered the beef curry. It tasted like Mongolian beef with a sweet but no curry spice taste, so guess I will have to stick to the chicken curry. I did order something different this time and that was the boneless BBQ pork and was very pleasantly surprised. I will definitely order this again. We always order for delivery. The normally come on time or earlier than they estimate. The food is always hot when it arrives. The food is plentiful and tastes great. The only thing that I don't like is the thickness of the steamed dumplings. They are delicious but the thickness of the dough is a bit much. I proceeded to open it and it was crab ragoons. another worker came out after she went back to speak with him after I told them about the wrong order given and noticed on their tablet they give me the wrong order. so the guy ran outside and grabbed my order that was being sent out for delivery. Where can a large Italian family get together for good food at a great price? Ming Jie's House! This is hands down one of my favorite Chinese food restaurants in Orange County NY. The hot and sour soup is flavorful and spicy and the egg rolls aren't overly fried or greasy. They use very good quality white meat chicken for their dishes which I love. The General Tso's and Sesame Chicken are well sauced and not too heavy. They also have a large steamed section for those of you avoiding the fried and sauced dishes. Prices are always changing. I mean that I order the same thing every time but somehow the price varies. They give a reciept with the english half ripped off so it's in chinese. They say free delivery but I swear they charge for delivering. I ordered 3 items and somehow my reciept had 4 items. I would not mind paying if they were honest about it. They will rip you off and be shady about it. I have to say the food is good but they are not honest about pricing and it's very disappointing. Got Ming Jie's take out tonight for the first time. It was pretty good. The crab rangoon was over done and too crunchy and the fried rice had no salt. Like literally not even a pinch which definitely made it a bit bland. Other than that, the General Tso's chicken was fantastic and the eggdrop soup was great. We've eaten here a few times, and gotten takeout too - it's above-average Chinese to be sure, far less greasy than other places - but we had a bit of a misstep tonight. We ordered online, specifying the pickup time etc. Arriving precisely when the food was due to be ready, we walk in to an empty restaurant to find the chef asleep at one of the tables. He then goes over our order in a pretty haphazard way, disappears to cook it, brings it out and overcharges us for it. All without apology. What happened to this place? The last two takeout orders were horrible. The wontons in my soup were barely cooked and chewed like stale gum and the broth had a sour taste to it. The noodles in the Chicken Lo Mein were also undercooked on our next order and the Moo Shu Chicken had no taste. This is one of the few Chinese restaurants in the area that features quality rather than quantity, although their portions are generous. It is also one of the few Chinese restaurants that is not a fast-food buffet or a small take-out place, although they do a good take-out busines. You can sit comfortably and enjoy. It is quiet with a pleasant ambience. The prices are very reasonable. I have tasted many entrees here, and they have all been delicious. The new Thai dishes are excellent. When I lived in Walden, this was the ONLY place I would go for Chinese food. It was the first I had so, I don't know how it compares to the others but, I don't care... Ming Jie's is that good! Each time I'm near Walden, I go there. I have had lots on the menu and loved it all. My only complaint is its hard for me to understand them on the phone. But, the food is awesome! Oh, they will let you mix and match the dinner for two for any of the "Dinner for" items. read more
