Food was awful. There was no flavor and it was extremely greasy. We will not be eating here again.

We have been buying Chinese Food from Ming Moon for years, and it is always a treat! Whenever we have company they always remark that they wish such a place was available where they live. The servings are hot, generous, and very delicious. We are so glad that Ming Moon is a part of our town. PS: I don't know why this review says I live in San Francisco, CA. Food was ok. We ordered the chicken lo mein, beef with broccoli, beef teriyaki, general tso chicken and crab rangoons. Everything was great with the exception of the lo mein. It tasted funny and not good. read more

You will never find better Boneless BBQ spare ribs or fried rice in the world!!! They do a thin sliced with tons of flavor and not like typical Chinese food. Their general Tso is also amazing! read more

Typical American Chinese food and the same exact menu as every other Chinese takeout place you will find. The food is as you would expect. No different than any other. Can't give 5 stars and can't give 1 star cuz the food is good for what it is. The prices are good, the portions are good. Nothing to make this place stand out. Chicken fingers hard as a rock obviously had been fried several times. Female behind the counter argued that it's the flour and no one else complained. Would not refund the money paid saying we ate 2 but the two we tried to eat but couldn't were in the bag. Need customer service skills. Very disappointed that they couldn't apologize and simply refund the few dollars. Nothing worse than treating your customers as if they don't know what they are talking about. Rest of the food was good but they need swallow their pride and simply at the very least pretend that they care about their customers and their service skills. i don't understand why this place has such a low star reviews. at forst i was very skeptical to go to this place but i got sick and tired of just eating subway sandwiches everyday for lunch. i ordered the lunch combo for general tso and egg drop soup with pork fried rice. they were really generous amount of food and tasty. i agree that there's only 2 table seating and it's really really tiny. not a good place to go out to eat. but if you do take out or wanna grab a quick food i think this is great!! i agree with the hidden gem review below. there really aren't much places to go to grab food around here unless you want to go in to the casino. between those limited choices, i think this place is the best place to grab lunch if you are around the area. read more

I stopped at the packie next door and as I was walking in heard a man and a woman yelling at each other in what I assumed to be some sort of Chineese Dialect, simultaneously I got hit hard with a whiff of garlic and fried food that smelled GOOD. Paying for a 30 pack of Budweiser, I Inquired "Is the Chineese joint next door any good?" The lady working at the packie replied "A lot of people like it." I ordered the kung pao chicken combo, couple extra egg rolls and the hot & sour soup. The Chineese Lady said with a scowl " TEN MINUTE". If anyone remembers the 1970s classic Vietnam War Movie " The Deer Hunter" the lady working the counter at the Chineese Restaurant would have been perfect cast as one of the gamblers sitting around the table where Russian Roulette was being played screaming "MMMMMMMMMAOOOOOOO". Food was ready in less then 8 minute!! Piping HOT and full of flavor. HUGE portion. Woke up craving it again this morning. As far as take out Chineese goes this was great and dirt cheap. I will return and look forward to the "friendly" service of the nice lady working the counter!! I just hope she does not slap me across the head and scream "MMMMMMMMAaaooooo" if I hesitate for a couple of seconds while deciding if it's gonna be kung pao or general gaos....... read more

Nasty, Nasty Nasty first rule of thumb NEVER buy Chinese food in the summer the lady that works there is rude and Nasty just like her food, place was sited bye food dept years ago and i drop line to health dept on 7/28/2021,egg roll was bad the cabbage was grey and did not taste fresh the pork fried rice was old and tasted like chalk, called the lady that works there to tell her things was not fresh i did not want nothing in return but to tell food was not fresh she got Nasty in responding and rude, just want to give heads up not the best food travel try anther place read more

Nice small, local, take-out Chinese restaurant. Some of the best Chinese food I have ever had. I have never been disappointed with what I have gotten. I have once not gotten everything I ordered but that was corrected quickly as the food was made as quickly as possible for me to complete my order. read more

This place legitimately is good for a Chinese take out. I have gotten the boneless BBQ spare rib platter and the chicken and rice platter and both were excellent. The woman who works there makes me laugh sort of on the inside because she is kind of that typical asian lady who wants no nonesense, side talk, or any other shananigin you may throw her way. Just wants your order and for you to leave immidiately. This is why I like her and I will continue to go there if I want Chinese take out. read more

Really think that this place has gotten better in the last year or so. It had suffered from the "kitchen got sloppy" syndrome for years, but a recent don't want to cook, don't want to drive anywhere evening brought us to Ming Moon where we swore we would never eat there again about ten years ago. We were pleasantly surprised that the food was tasty and seasoned well. Prices are reasonable and it's local and open. Don't expect amazing Chinese or new dishes, but it beats the heck out of another take-out from Subway. read more

Food is standard Chinese food - nothing to write home about. My issue is with the service. The woman in there is dismissive at best, nasty and rude at worst. I'm used to her being less than friendly, but what ended us going there was we once received the wrong order and she insisted that it was ours. She was very insistent that if we wanted what we had actually ordered, we'd have to pay for both meals, even though I told her I did not want the other order, because it was wrong. Uhm, NO I am NOT paying for something I did not order, or even want! I have not been back since and refuse to go there. Ming Moon is only about 5-10 minutes away from our house, but we go to Golden Chopstix in Gales Ferry now rather than risk being made to pay for the wrong food again. Perhaps that woman at the serving counter needs to be cooking or cleaning instead, because she obviously lacks basic customer service skills. read more

The restaurant options in Ledyard Center are severely lacking. I think that is one of the reasons this restaurant has been open for so long; when the options are pizza, grinders, Chinese, or leaving town for food, chances are pretty good Chinese food will be picked once in a while. There is nothing spectacular about this restaurant. It's like every other Chinese restaurant I've ever been to, except knock off a star. Because they know the people will come anyway, they don't put a lot of effort in. I stopped coming when I noticed health code violations. Nothing big that I could see, just small things (they could still be written up). However, when there's small violations, chances are pretty good there are big violations too. read more

Best Chinese food I have ever had. I grew up down the road from downtown ledyard center and grew up knowing the owners an their family. The Chinese food is delicious including the sweet and sour chicken, boneless spare ribs, and the pork fried rice is a must. I have since moved out of ledyard but when I visit home I insist on ordering pickup here. It's a hidden treasure. read more

So I just want to say that I have been a customer of Ming Moon's for quite a few years. I usually order the SAME thing every time I order. However, this past week I added one more item to our order, and when my daughter went to pick it up, they forgot to give it to her. This item was the ONLY thing she wanted. So, they call me, and tell me that they forgot to give it to her, and proceeded to tell me that she could come and get it , however, she was already home. They then said that they would give me the item the NEXT time I came in, but as I said, this was the only item she wanted. They don't deliver, to that was out of the question. The gentleman was a little terse with me, (as is the unpleasant woman who is usually there and answers the phone without even saying goodbye, as she just slams the phone down in your face) and as I unpacked the order, I realized they didn't give us our pork fried rice, they gave us pork lo mein, which I do not like. Didn't apologize or anything. My daughter got on the phone, because she was upset, and the guy starts giving her attitude. Hey buddy, the customer is always right, did you ever hear that one? Like it was "our" mistake. They are off my list. There is a wonderful Chinese restaurant on Route 2 right past the Bellisimo that I heard is excellent, and they don't give you attitude, as they appreciate their customers! Good riddance Ming Moon, especially with your poor disgusting attitude, I have no regrets, and oh, by the way, the food was just average, and with the attitude it leaves a bad taste in your mouth anyway! read more
