Hubby responsibly orders a delicious lunch menu item & I order enough food for THREE people!!! - Steamed roast pork rice rolls - Steamed Golden Palace shrimp dumplings - Steamed pork & shrimp shumai - Deep-fried taro dumpling with pork & dried shrimp - Baked roast pork buns - Stir-fried Chinese broccoli with fresh garlic Hubby loves the #14 combo: shrimp with vegetables, fried rice, golden fingers (chicken tenders) & egg roll. Even for him, it is enough for 2 meals! His favorite item from the dim sum menu is the stir-fried Chinese broccoli with fresh garlic. Everything was outstanding & I would do it again tomorrow. If you are ever in the vicinity of Mohegan Sun, take a 5 minute drive & check out this amazing Chinese restaurant! Dim sum is available daily so give it try. Highly recommend. NOM NOM NOM #YUM

Obviously things change over time, but my recent visit still tells me that most of the food is still very solid, though not quite as great as it once was. What I love about this place is that all the food comes out fresh and hot. Unfortunately, a few of my favorite items have taken a step back. For example, the Sticky Rice Flour Dumpling w/ Pork & Dried Shrimp had way less filling than a few years ago. Still good flavor, but not great any more. Also, what happened to the Pork & Shrimp Stuffed Peppers? All I tasted was soy based ground pork and no shrimp whatsoever. Lastly, the Duck Egg Yolk Custard Bun has gone really downhill. Skip! With that said, I still absolutely love their Pork & Shrimp in Dried Bean Sheet Roll. One of the best I've had anywhere. Chicken Feet in Black Bean Sauce and Fatty Pork Ribs, and Sole Filet in a Fried Thin Rice Wrap are still excellent. There are many other standard items that are done well, but not necessarily better than most places. Every time I come to Mohegan Sun or Foxwoods Casino, this has been a must stop. Though I feel the quality has downgraded a bit, I would still consider this restaurant one of the best places to eat in the area. However, I do hope that they find their old magic touch with some of my favorite dishes.

So much better than flushing, Manhattan or Brooklyn dim sum restaurants, can't compare. What a gem! The last time i have this quality of dim sum was in Toronto over 20 years ago. ( I think you can't find same quality dim sum even in Hong Kong now because they all use precooked dim sum. ) Pig blood not the best but good. Everything large portion good price. Salty yolk buns, the buns is not as good but the salty yolk fillings are excellent. Must try the 叉燒酥 cha siu pastry, 鹹水角 fried sticky rice dumplings? I'm not sure about the translation but it's the best fresh crispy outside melt into the mouth, 腸粉 rice rolls, 牛筋 beef tendons sooo good,牛柏葉 beef tripes so soft. Siu mai are huge and perfect mix of pork and shrimp. You can't miss chicken feet. Everything so flavorful not salty.

I drove past it the first time, but the exterior is intriguing, with waterfalls and small ponds with koi fish out front that caught my attention on the second pass. The interior is large and classically decorated, the kind of dining room that was built to handle volume without feeling like a cafeteria. I noticed the koi fish out front have a quarter machine nearby that dispenses food, a small detail that tends to land well if you are visiting with kids. The overall setup is comfortable and well maintained, and the space gave the restaurant a presence that most Chinese restaurants in the area do not match. The dim sum is the main draw, and it is served until 3pm, so timing my visit accordingly was important. I ordered the har gow and shumai, both well executed and holding up against what I have found at comparable restaurants in Boston or New York. The chili oil is good and worth using liberally. The shrimp wonton noodle soup was a standout and worth ordering on its own. For those coming outside dim sum hours, the full menu covers a solid range of Cantonese dishes. I also tried the fried rice, salt and pepper squid, and chow fun, all of which performed well. The portions throughout were generous enough that ordering with a group and sharing made the most sense. On quieter days, the food quality is noticeably more consistent, which I experienced during my visit. For good dim sum in Connecticut and a Cantonese dining room that takes the food seriously, Oriental Bar and Grill is worth the effort of finding.
