Ordered from here a year ago, so this review is overdue but idc. I just randomly thought about it again and yeah The staff was rude as hell. Rushed me off the phone when I was making an order and then got mad at me because she messed up my order. Just moved to the neighborhood and ate here first yep passed up Polish good and Yemeni Food because I'm a sucker for Chinese food! I was too hungry to get a picture of everything but I ordered Singapore Noodles with Shrimps and it did not disappoint! The portion is large and they didn't skimp on the shrimps either. I ordered Wonton Soup and most times wherever I go and order wonton soup to go it's usually horrible but theirs had fresh wontons and green onions which I didn't have to ask for and pay extra and bean sprouts the broth was good not salty just natural. I also ordered a egg roll which was still hot after me walking home with it. Over all my food was delicious I remember when this place opened over 19 years ago i probably was one of their first customers and look at me now living real close to them lol! read more

NEW OWNERS CAN'T COOK!! I have been going here for over 20 years. Food used to be fantastic. New owners took over in September or October. Decide to try it. So very DISAPPOINTED!!! The egg foo young was rather nasty! It came separate from the gravy, which was a very dark brown color instead of the lighter brown gravy I'm used to. The egg rolls were not good at all!! The fried rice was decent. It was a really dark color, which I thought was burnt at first, but it tasted ok. The food is so very different (not in a good way) from how previous owners made it. I will definitely not be going back!! I want Chinese food that's good, and this place does not have good food anymore!!! read more

I stopped at this restaurant to pickup dinner. The quantity of food was awesome! There was enough food for 2 more meals! The quality of the food was so bad neither my husband or I could eat it. We both had Almond Boneless Chicken. In my opinion they needed to change the oil in the fryer the food had a rancid taste. I thought maybe the gravy would cover the rancid taste, no way. The gravy had no taste at all. I don't understand why you would provide such large portions when they can't even change the oil in their fryer. We couldn't eat the food! I ordered eggrolls and Szechuan beef. The eggrolls were fresh and did not taste of any weird oil. The filling was good and not greasy. The Szechuan beef was the real star. Great flavor, the vegetables are cooked properly. The fried rice in the side was also very good. I have had so many bad experiences with takeout Chinese food lately and that I have not been ordering it much. I can't speak for their fried dishes, but if this is a sign of what they do for a stirfry you should definitely order it if you prefer that style of Chinese. read more

After a brutal conversation to just get my order clarified I asked her for the total to which she gave me a price or $19 for just a single order of Szechuan beef for ONE person. I haven't considered Chinese food for lunch for quite some time now.. It's like one of those things I used to do, before I was really into food.. Anyways co-workers were going here for lunch and I joined along. My expectations were pretty low. Looks like your standard Chinese restaurant-in-a-strip-mall on the inside, even down to the dingy fish tank. Ordered the szechuan shrimp for lunch. Came out hot and smelling very nice. Had that charred pepper smell like it was fire grilled. Taste was really good, like way above my expectations! Medium was actually spicy, although I'll get hot next time. Peppers and water chestnuts were fresh tasting. Good flavor on the sauce. The shrimp was plump, de-veined and cooked right. Yum! The woman working there was feisty, she actually slapped the hand of another person in our party who mistakenly reached over for the wrong soup bowl. Bold move! But we laughed it off. read more

This is definitely a not-so-pretty strip mall Chinese restaurant, but I'd be happy to go back when I'm in the area. I'm writing this review so I don't forget about it! As another reviewer recommended, the Szechuan entrees were very good (I had the chicken). I also recommend the beef with pea pods. The egg rolls were perfectly fried- they had not been sitting around getting soggy. We appreciated the chicken fried rice that came with the combinations, rather than the standard white rice. The egg drop soup had a strong orange tint, and I can't quite figure out if it was ketchup, or something else. it put my mom off, but I still thought it tasted good. Found this place on Yelp, have been here a few times also with wife. Nothing fancy about the place but their Lo Mein is very tasty and we always order our food extra hot. This has become our go-to place for chinese as we didn't find other restaurants in the area very tasty. Prices may seem a bit high but they put lots of veggies including mushroom in their servings. Located near the border of Allen Park and Melvindale, in a plaza at the corner of Oakwood and Allen Roads, this restaurant is small in size (9-10 tables, tops) but they have a wide range or inexpensively priced entrees, especially for lunch. Their Szechuan dishes are fantastic (one of best in the Detroit area), and my coworkers and I either eat-in or get takeout from Ming Sun at least once a week. Ming Sun is a favorite of many people in our building -- you always see people you know eating there. I tried. Really, I did. The rice was infused with burnt bits of the wok (if they even used a wok), which made my Shrimp Fried Rice actually appear to be the half brother of Cajun Rice. The egg roll was beyond dry, both inside and out, and it took more than a reasonable amount of effort to bite through it. I asked for gravy on the side for my rice, and I got this congealed glob of brown jelly-like substance, that I was afraid would begin to move on its' own if I kept looking at it, so I hurriedly closed the lid. The chicken was fried beautifully on the outside, so I give them 4 stars for their batter & fry skills, but the meat was extremely tough and hard, so I give them a -4 for the consistency of the chicken. The lemon sauce for the chicken was very good. Too bad I had nothing else to eat it with. Overall I wouldn't give Ming Sun a second chance, and it's unfortunate, because I love Chinese food, and it is conveniently located near my job. If you decide to try this place maybe your experience will be different; for the sake of all of the egg rolls in the world, I hope it is. read more
