Clutch location - easy to get to, right off Hwy 23 - standard two-fold Chinese menu, food is hot and generously portioned. No surprises if you order "safely". Don't expect the world's best anything - you are picking up freshly-cooked food defensively - anything you get here will be better than the gas station taquitos or the Arby's roast beef sandwich binge you will regret in 30 minutes. But to be clear, it's not going to be particularly great. Something about the time of day that I pass by through this area gets me so excited to toss in a pickup order just to see what I get. The Singapore-style Mei Fun is reliable. Get it plain without the Singapore curry spice if you're more suspicious. lol. Anything like String Beans with Garlic, or Beef with Broccoli, is going to be perfectly acceptable for a road warrior like you. The location, consistency, and ease of triangulation with regards to ordering over the phone (or having your shotgun passenger order) about 10 minutes before you reach this Hwy exit merits a solid 4-star review. I used to frequent this restaurant when I traveled between Ann Arbor and the Toledo area, but hadn't been there recently. It had been very good to excellent. The only reason I hadn't been back sooner is simply logistics. The other day I was passing through Dundee and decided to order carryout for two. When I placed my order by phone, I explained that I was still in Ann Arbor and the person who answered graciously said she would hold the order before submitting it. Great! I had ordered two entrees of Shrimp, Scallops and Chicken with garlic sauce. The tricky part is that the restaurant has an entree of Beef, Shrimp and Chicken with a garlic sauce and my order which substituted Scallops instead of Beef normally would come with a spicy Szechuan sauce. When I picked up my order, the restaurant was pretty crowded and tastefully decorated as I remembered from previous visits. I think something may have been lost in translation because I realized once home that our entrees consisted of Shrimp and Chicken- no Scallops- in a spicy sauce that I'm not sure if was Szechuan or garlic. While the entrees didn't have Scallops (or Beef), there was no extra Shrimp or Chicken to make up for lacking the third meat that would normally be part of the entrees. Whether they were out of Scallops or simply omitted Beef, the meat wasn't that generous. Also, there was a lot of sauce (since I didn't want to complicate the order by ordering less sauce). I found the sauce more spicy than my personal taste, though my mom found it perfect. I would definitely return to this restaurant and be more specific and make sure there was a mutual understanding of the order. Since the restaurant isn't located close to home, I'm not sure when I might be back but would recommend it if you're in the Dundee MI area. Im not usually one to complain but after paying $17 for an order of general tsos chicken with white rice and a drink, I was expecting a lot more than very chewy chicken that is barely coated in the sauce. Not a single piece was actually coated in sauce it was just a little bit on each piece with all the sauce at the bottom of the container. Imagine you were going to make your own general tsos chicken but you fell asleep after you fried the chicken and it was sitting on the counter for a few hours so you put in in the microwave and throw it on top of warm sauce. Very chewy and old tasting and they didn't toss it in the sauce at all maybe one lazy toss. I'm actually super disappointed and this is hands down the worst general tsos chicken I've ever had. Absolutely no effort was put into making this dish which is crazy because I feel like this is the most simple and easy thing to make at a Chinese restaurant. It's just chicken and sauce like how can you mess up that bad?? Panda Express orange chicken is 100x better than this. Also keep in mind they said it would take 15 minutes to make as I was already about 15 minutes away so it's not like it was sitting there for long at all plus the restaurant wasn't even that busy. Went last night and ordered the combination. Almond boneless chicken (who can screw this up?), and chicken with vegetables. There was so little of the chicken and vegetables that I thought they forgot to even give it to me. The Almond boneless chicken (that I thought no one could screw up) was not good. The chicken was very tough. Almost couldn't chew it. Probably got a deal on some old hens or roosters. Also had an egg roll and spring roll. Both were good. Wonton soup was also good. Quality has really gone down. It's always been very crowded, but not yesterday. We were the only ones there. Guess that's what happens when you can't even make ABC...I will be patronizing the other nearby chinese restaurant (that is carry out only). read more

We both had dinner combo meals - one chicken and vegetables and one beef and vegetables. My egg roll and egg drop soup were very good. My wife's crab rangoons and hot and sour soup were also very good. The entrees were perfect. No gristle or fatty chicken or beef. Pea pods, mushrooms, carrots plentiful. The fried rice that came with the dishes was more brown rice than actual fried rice but it complemented the meal. This is one of the best strip mall Chinese restaurants we've ever visited. read more

We both ordered combination dinners. I had the almond boneless chicken and szechuan beef. She had chicken and vegetables and general tsao. The meals came with a soup and egg role or crab Rangoon. This place is right off the highway which is good. Place was 1/2 full, decent business it seemed. Service could have been a little better but okay, didn't see a waitress enough never asked for drink refills or if we needed anything. It was about 1:00 pm on a Wednesday. Food taste was good. Problem was dishes did not have enough meat on any of the three different dishes we got. Rice was good. Vegetables seemed good for the dish, but meat was pretty scarce, few pieces sprinkled on the top of dish. What I did was cut my meat in very small pieces so I could get meat in more bits. Prices were the same as other places. Very good flavor on the dish. What I thought was really good was you received soup, 1 egg roll and your meal. At first glance, this restaurant looks like a tiny little hole in the wall, but it has the most amazing Chinese food I've ever had in my life. It is authentic and made fresh. Even my sweet-and-sour chicken was made with actual chicken breast chunks not garbage chicken, the sweet-and-sour sauce is unlike anything I've ever had in my life. We stopped in at Chinese Sizzling Restaurant on a Saturday night. They were very busy, had a full dining room and lots of carry out orders going out the door. The menu is large, and everything was reasonably priced. I ordered the beef & scallop sizzling platter, and my date ordered the beef with mushrooms. Both of those came with white rice and soup (we both chose wonton). We also ordered Crab Rangoons, and egg rolls. The portion sizes were very large, and as we saw various things going to other tables, it seems to be across the board. The food was really good. The wonton soup broth was excellent, but the wonton itself just tasted like a plain noodle to me. The crunchies they give you to put in it were awesome though. The egg rolls were very good, crispy and flavorful. The beef and scallops in my dish were really tender and delicious. My date really enjoyed his beef with mushrooms as well. The service was great, they were attentive without being there too often. I had a small issue with my drink being regular instead of diet, and they corrected it immediately. Came for TO, Wanted like a Mei fun entree, didn't see it on the menu.Felt like Lady was pressuring me to make a choice so asked her for combo meat but with rice noodles which is basically mei fun. After just a few moments I realize when I seen her again that I wanted to be sure that there was eggs in the dish because that's what you get with Mel fun and Singapore rice noodles. The service and food quality in this restaurant have completely gone down hill. The staff spend more time dealing with takeout customers than paying any attention to dine-in guests. The last time I visited, it took over seven minutes to be seated, while four takeout orders were being served. After being finally seated and ordering, when my meal came out ten to fifteen minutes later, it was given to another guest at another table, and the waitress attempted to give my dining partner's meal to two different tables. I had to wait another ten minutes before finally receiving my meal, and it was not correct and the chicken consisted of barely edible pieces. My drink was never refilled. No apologies were offered! I always order take out, but there is a dine in option. The inside is clean and staff is always super friendly. What a great find in Dundee. Just a hop, skip, and a jump from Cabella's. We said 4.5, so I gave 5. It's true what another reviewer said about the sauces. They were probably the best I've had. We tried: Deluxe lo mein with 3 meats: This was outstanding. It has almost a grilled flavor, and everyone liked it. The shrimp was perfect for me. Schezuan Beef: the beef was so tender and delicious, and again, great sauce. Cook on the veg was excellent. Almond Chicken: Big portion with a really crispy crunchy outside. No sog here! Flavor had the lightest touch of lemon, and was mild but tasty. Hunan Shrimp: The black bean sauce was yummy. We got it mild, and it had the slightest bit of heat, but my 8-year-old liked it. Perfect cook on the broccoli & veg, but the cook on the shrimp was not my favorite. I'd get it again, but with chicken. Sesame Chicken: I thought this came with broccoli like the takeout picture, but no.... It was large breaded chunks of chicken and only chicken. That sauce, though! When we packaged the leftovers to take home, my husband said, "Take the sauce." Lol The fried rice was nothing to write home about. It seemed like seasoning was added pre-cook in a rice cooker, so not fried with "little veg & egg goodies", but it wasn't bad and went well with the -wait for it - delicious sauce! Egg roll had a homeade flavor with visible meat, which is a shocker these days. More bean sprouts than cabbage-y. Crab rangoons were sweet and yummy. The soup? Don't miss it. It came with your choice of two entrees, soup, and choice of egg roll or crab rangoon. I ended up getting hot n sour soup, crab rangoon, hunan shrimp, general taos chicken. All of which I was very satisfied. Chicken was all white meat with crunchy breading well seasoned and the shrimps are of good size but veggies in the hunan were a bit over cooked for my liking but still all very tasty.
