This has been my go to in the area for good Chinese food, ordered the house Lo Mein got home half the noodles weren't boiled and the chicken tasted bad. The egg foo young and fried rice was good. However, I won't get the beef with pea pods again. The pea pods were not cleaned...the strings on the pods were left on.....they were stringy and I couldn't eat them because I didn't want to keep pulling out strings so I wouldn't choke on them. Could have very well been a solid four stars here...the general tsos chicken and sweet and sour chicken were great and enormous portions! However the fried rice was a bit overcooked, but the real problem was the disappointing lo mein - an order of beef and pork both were overwhelming portions but were a rather odd combination of two pasta that wasn't the usual lo mein ... It was more of a thicker glass noodle and ren noodle? Just odd. Daughters were very much not fond of it. I also ordered a pint of wonton soup which was just different than what I'm used to - had mushrooms, celery, onions, green onions and I think it was flat green beans with two won tons. Disappointing for sure. Pros? Great portions for the price and if you stick with what is known to be good, it's going to be good (I know almond chicken is supposed to be good too). Cons? I'm 43 years old and have been going to lums since I was 10. The almond chicken Dinner and the sweet & sour chicken dinner are my go to meals. I also get beef fried rice with both. Unlike many food spots these days, the prices here are very reasonable, especially with the amount of food you get in the dinners. Your take out boxes are always stapled shut on both sides! Huge portions of rice and the beef is always tender. The almond chicken is always crispy and cooked to perfection. I also appreciate the real egg rolls (not spring rolls like most places) They also have the sweet orange sauce for the almond chicken, which I prefer over the dark brown from most places. I also recommend the crab Rangoon, egg drop soup and just about everything on the menu. I have never had a bad meal or a complaint here after all these years. I live in dearborn heights and there is barely any Chinese food near me. I found this place on a cold winter night, one of those nights you really don't feel like cooking. I kept calling the phone number since they were only open for curbside and for about 30 min i couldn't get through. Turns out they were just really busy which is a good sign, it means the food is good. The lady came out and got our order, meanwhile attending so many others and doing her job well. My family ordered orange chicken, double chicken fried rice, 2 egg drop soups, and 2 egg rolls. The egg drop soup is sooo good. Has good flavor, doesn't just taste like slime, the orange chicken you could tell was real pieces of meat, not that fake dry chicken, the egg rolls are good. But the only downfall was the chicken fried rice. It was darker in color so it doesn't look appealing but I'd say on a taste scale probably a 6. Overall the service was good, and the food was ate so thats saying something. Will return. read more

We've seen this place for a while and finally decided to try it. We should've waited longer. We ordered 2 dinners. The Almond chicken was very greasy. The Sweet and Sour chicken was even greasing. The sauce was gelatinous and didn't look appealing at all. We also ordered a side of chicken fried rice, which was equally disappointing. Overall, this place is a skip. I wouldn't recommend at all. Okay!!!! Let's start off by saying good packaging and the flavor was good it would have been better if everything was fresh. The bad....The shrimp was over cooked like they were double fried and saturated with oil. The egg rolls the filling was not fresh.... the fried rice was dry. The food seemed like it was precooked and then recooked when your order is placed. nothing in my order was freshly cooked that is for sure. This was a Monday order they are closed on Tuesdays so I'm wondering maybe Wednesday is a fresh food day. I may give them one more try. I just don't believe people should waste money on bad food. Very rude. I ordered won ton soup and got something else that had no noodles but fit have slices of pork, pea pods, mushrooms and something else I didn't recognize. Called and she told me they forgot to remove the pork. I told her there is no noodles and she said bring it back and show her. We did, she took the bag of soup inside where no one else is allowed due to Covid. She comes back out with the soup open and holding a noodle with a chopstick and showing strangers waiting for their food and saying this won ton, no remake, no refund. Next time you no order won ton. And they don't give fortune cookies anymore. There won't be a next time. There are too many places that sell Chinese food to give business to rude business owners. read more

Surprised at the lackluster reviews here. A guy I work with who is a total food snob told me Yums was good. I was out on my bike and decided to order some takeout here for the short ride home. The very nice and cute lady brings it to you due to COVID. When I got home I couldn't believe how much food it was. I thought I had maybe turned over the box and everything flipped over but it was just that stuffed with food. I got the sweet and sour chicken with shrimp fried rice. It also came with a bucket of duck sauce (not just a couple of packets) and enough soy sauce to last me a year. The chicken pieces were big and you can actually taste white chicken meat and not just breading. The rice had actual whole pieces of shrimp in it. Is it 5-star Chinese food? No, but my whole order was like 12 dollars and I'm a big guy who can eat and it easily enough for two people. I didn't finish it till the following day.
