Arrived here on a Sunday morning at 10am and it was not super busy. I was having a lazy ski day but I imagine most people are on the slopes by now. Recently spent over a week in Tahoe City for work and had every breakfast here. The lattes were delicious and consistent. Tried multiple of the breakfast food items, and they were all amazing (especially the avocado toast and breakfast sandwich). We visited the almost month old Minglewood over the weekend. Such cute decor!! We stopped by so I could get a coffee and then planned to go across the street, so my husband could have a beer, but to our surprise they also have Beer and Wine here, so we decided to stay. The staff were all super friendly and we enjoyed talking to our server, Tina. I always enjoy trying house specials and the Mate Latte w/ Honey, caught my eye. It was really good and the honey made it a perfect combination. My husband had a California Honey Blonde Ale, made by Pizza Port Brewing Co. He loved it! I'm so glad we came in. We were SO excited to try this new spot as locals! Sharing our experience so management knows since this is a new business - and happy to give it another try sometime. We really wish them best of luck and want their business to last! We were a group of kids and adults who went for sit down breakfast. Cute space since the remodel. Nice coffee. Liked the atmosphere. But no one liked their food. We all kept saying that we wish there were say 3 traditional items on the menu, but the food was trendy to the point that it didn't work for us. Wished there had been an avocado toast without romesco and leeks; a breakfast sandwich with traditional thick bacon and a different, better tasting side like fruit salad; a greek yogurt parfait: and a more standard breakfast acai bowl. Couldn't tell if the menu is that way because of limited kitchen operations or if they are really committed to this trendy menu. From our POV, we hope they do a menu recalibration to appeal more to the masses. read more

I was more on the hungry side and got the club sandwich on lightly toasted sourdough bread which also came with a side salad. Yum! It hit the spot and I ended up eating the whole sandwich. I ordered 2 drinks: iced coffee 16 oz and some green tea latte iced 16 oz (not matcha, they don't serve it) and a turmeric shot. All of that was $20! Not sure why $20 because I didn't even get the receipt and didn't ask for any add-ons to my latte. They were busy so it was ok to wait for the drinks. I didn't like the latte so I went up and asked them to change it to cappuccino. The staff didn't even ask for the size of the drink I wanted. I was ok to even accept that. But when they served people's coffee first to the girl group that came after me I couldn't take it anymore. And the guy with dark hair and beard even tried being snappy with me saying he explained the latte drink to me. He did, but he failed to mention that it might not be something I'd be into if I like matcha latte. It took almost 40 mins. 40 mins... and when I ordered cappuccino there was no people before me for a while so the order list cleared up for them. Food did look good, ambience is nice. Was walking around Tahoe looking for a breakfast spot and I'm so happy we walked into this one. It's such a cute cozy spot on the lake. We got two lattes: hazelnut and vanilla, an avocado toast, and the breakfast sandwich then ended off with the cinnamon roll. EVERYTHING WAS FRESH & DELICIOUS! I ordered an iced latte that was easily one of the best I've had up here. They roast their own beans sourced from Seattle, and I love that you can pick up a bag to take home too. The trout salad was excellent--fresh, flavorful, and a solid portion that left me full. I have been visiting Tahoe for years and always appreciated grabbing coffee and some tasty cafe food at what used to be Syd's, a busy and welcoming place for both locals and vacationers. NOW, Its menu is not only crazy expensive, but not what you would expect for a cafe. The concept, IMO, seems ridiculous. Minglewood erased the previously extensive counter service bagel/breakfast sandwich/coffee menu and replaced it with a limited, overpriced, trying-to-be-trendy menu. The interior is generic, soulless, and bland. I'm so bummed because this used to be one of my favorite spots. 2 stars because the cronut was good. read more
