We decided to explore the area of Tahoe City and signed up to go ice skating. We were pleased to find a quaint lounge to get drinks and lunch here afterward. We had literally the best Bloody Mary's we've ever had (I ended up ordering a second one) and the food was great as well. The two gentlemen behind the bar were extremely friendly and accommodating. Worst place on North Tahoe, great idea to make ice skating for kids and restaurant for parents. I ordered PROTEIN veggie salad, and guess what no protein for 16$ just kale onions and 1!!! Spoon of quinoa. When I asked where is protein I was told that it is vegan salad, it is not mention in a menu. Worst service we were waiting for pretzel 1 hour, really crowded and understaffed! We were intrigued by their fusion menu and little did we know this place was inside Tahoe City Golf Course! Came here on a Tuesday for lunch on a summer day. Found a nice outdoor shaded table so we can have our pup with us. Love how dog friendly this course is! Our service was really good. Maybe because it was a little slow. We ordered our food and drinks with the bartender inside. He was great and accommodating. Made solid Bloody Mary's and brought the food outside to our table. We ordered the Vietnamese French dip, that was reasonably priced and the pho broth was good. And the wagyu cheeseburger was good after a second try. We had to send it back the first round because it was undercooked and way too rare. Seems to be a pattern here in Tahoe restaurants, we've been served undercooked entrees a couple of times during our trip. Not sure why! But the cafe served us a new burger and fries and all was well again. Maybe the kitchen was just understaffed. We may not golf but we still enjoyed coming here for lunch. If I could leave 0 on this I would. I haven't even gotten my food yet but I'm sitting here steaming amongst the snow outside. Walked in and was not greeted, not sure if I needed to sit down or go to a window to order. I literally flagged down a waitress to ask her how to order. Mind you I have two pups so I wanted to sit outside and eat. Told her I wanted to eat outside and she told me I had to order then get the food then bring the plates back in. Alright sounds good to me. She directed me to the bar to order and there was no one tending the bar. She went to fetch the bartender who was just wandering around the back near the ski rentals. Bartender comes back and was very rude. No customer service skills at all. Sorry you're having a bad day Kristi. We ordered the bahn mi and hamburger and she was muttering things under her breath the whole time. I admit I did not leave a tip because it was ridiculous the way she was talking to us. Especially if we are gonna be serving ourselves and bringing our plates back in. She handed me our waters and I said thank you. To which Kristi responds with "thank you for your generosity" in the most venomous tone one can give. Appalled I stepped outside to sit in the cold and write this review. They have a breakfast/ brunch menu and lunch/dinner menu. When we stayed around the area we had almost all our meals here. The staff is super friendly, the place is just by the golf course and it has a beautiful view. Their avocado toast was so fresh, crunchy and yummy! Mango salad - another thing to surely try Beignets with chocolate syrup - fresh and to die for (I am craving for it as I write) Banana bread - freshly made and has some strawberry chunks too- really different, fresh and tasty A friend had their açai bowl two times and said it was worth it! Quite possibly the worst service in Tahoe. Waited at the bar for 15 minutes while the bartender struggled to change the keg, took other peoples' orders who arrived after us and never made eye contact or said, "hey I'll be right with you."  When we finally got our drinks, the wine glasses were ¼ full.  Not just ours but other peoples' as well.  We had to go back twice and ask for a normal pour.  Seriously awful service with zero regard to guest relations and/or satisfaction.  Super salty food. read more

Two stars because the food is decent. However this place needs better staffing during busy season... Extremely long wait times and perpetually messy tables. Why is the wait time so long? There is only one person manning the restaurant: One bartender who takes orders, makes drinks, and runs food out to tables. Guest not ordering alcoholic drinks are discouraged from ordering at the bar.... meaning you have to wait and hope the bartender sees you sitting at a table, walks over and takes your order. As she was rushing by, we asked the bartender if we could order and she flat out said nope I'm busy... I don't blame her, this place needs more staffing. Don't come here unless you have at least 1-2 hours to kill. read more

We had a terrible experience at Cafe Zenon today - the food was terrible and the service worse. They were short staffed by two people and didn't let us or anyone else know up front. We had to hunt down staff to order and The table next to us waited for 40 minutes before anyone attempted to take a drink and food order from them. When the man at that table said something to a member of the waitstaff she snapped at him and said it was busy and they'd help him in a moment. They didn't approach the table for another 20 mins. When I got my order of pancakes they were inedible. Apparently the cook had put in loads of baking soda. Others had complained about theirs too. Our beignets had been left in the Fryer too long because they were like little bricks. The whole experience was very bad. I don't recommend. read more

We went there for lunch with the family because the kids wanted to go to the outdoor sports park for sledding and ice-skating. We were pleasantly surprised with how great the food was! Most of their items have a Vietnamese flare, their Pho was terrific and our son had the Brisket Sandwich with pho dip and he said it was amazing! They also have a full bar and nice selection of beers on tap! We will definitely be going back!!! Be patient, it is set back behind buildings and a little difficult to find but super good! read more

We've never seen a restaurant work so hard to turn their patrons away. We showed up.around 10:30 on a Saturday for brunch. After waiting 10 minutes for our server to show up, he warned us that we'd be looking at a 40min wait "due to the kitchen." Since we weren't in a hurry, we disregarded the portentous statement, a mistake on our part. He repeated his warning when he returned 10min later to take our drink order. After waiting 40 more mins, he came out to inform us that he had no avocados or fruit, rendering half our breakfast order irrelevant. He gave us a third invitation to leave, and this time it was taken. A star for honesty but otherwise a very poor experience. read more

Incredible welcome event! We booked our rehearsal dinner and welcome reception with Suzanne at Cafe Zenon. It's a funky, unassuming little cafe at the golf course, but it boasts an impressively creative menu and fantastic bar selection. Suzanne may be a little hard to get ahold of, but don't let that deter you (she has a tiny staff and they are jamming all winter with the sledding families). She has heart of gold and will do anything to make your event a success. From a custom BBQ menu on their amazing brick grill outside, to colluding to set-up a surprise slide show with the parents, to a split check between the two functions, to extending the event end-time (twice), I was always greeted with a giant smile and a "You're all set!", "No problem" or "What can I get you?". We just had So. Much. Fun. I highly recommend booking your next private event here. read more

Cute place right on the golf course. A large group of us came here for a post-wedding-day brunch. We were seated outside and a buffet was set up for us including apple and orange juices, coffee, fruit salad, arugula salad, breakfast potatoes, freshly made breakfast sandwiches, and assorted pastries. The orange juice was fresh squeezed and delicious, and the coffee hot and strong. The salads were tasty, as were the breakfast potatoes. The breakfast sandwiches seemed to be causing the woman making them for us a bit of a struggle. The grill just did not seem hot enough to cook the eggs, toast the bread, or melt the cheese sufficiently. The fact that there was a choice of sandwiches: those with eggs, cheese, and bacon.... or veggie friendly ones with cheese, arugula, and peppers was a very nice touch. There was a great choice of pastries, and even a selection clearly marked that were gluten-free. It was a great way to end a wonderful wedding weekend in Tahoe! read more

Excellent service. A roaring fire that heats the place up. Great food. Nobody was there except some golfer types. (They were a little annoying.) Very reasonably priced. We got the french toast and root vegetable hash. Both were delicious. It's always really nice to see a good variety of vegetables in a dish. We liked it so much we'll likely check it out for lunch. I came in thinking that being a new place there may be some glitches or might still be working on the menu...DEFINITELY NOT the case. This menu looks like someplace that you would find in the city without the city prices! Amzing food with flavor profiles that make your palate dance. So I had the eggs Benedict. The tomato jam was awesome. The planting of the dish, eggs Beni with about a tablespoon of hollandaise sauce. Didn't even cover half an egg. So order extra, which will be another two tablespoons. The bar tender makes a good Bloody Mary. The two girls, with four people in restaurant couldn't take an order and it still both of them two tries to get it 90% right. Right hand doesn't know what left hand is doing. Good cook on eggs. Take away the bad waitressing and cold room, it's not bad. No I don't think I'll be back. read more

Service and food were subpar. We were not welcomed in, and were actually told we would not get good service. We were starving and not particular about service. But it's so hard going somewhere where it feels like we are putting out the employees (despite the fact we were very polite and not imposing in any way). The food was not good either.
