Growing up, my skills for cooking filipino food has enhanced tremendously so I figured I'd cook it myself.. After taking my pup home I thought, 'I doubt that little filipino grocery store near my house is still open.. but it wouldn't hurt to check.' ... and BAM! It's OPEN til 8pm! Yah, baby. Thas' what I'm tawn' bout. This mini grocery store has almost all the shelved groceries (no produce) I need to make a home cooked dish. Pancit bihon and canton noodles, eggroll wrappers, the BIG rice sacks, the "real" filipino corned beef (not to be confused with Libby), pan de sal, pan de coco, otap, preseasonings for lazy days, siopao, etc! Best of all, they have "My Shalden" air freshners for my car! Besides the front room of groceries (the store is super cramped), just DON'T forget the back door.. Through there, you'll find more aisles of canned goods and most importantly, different types of soy sauces and vinegars. Also, open up the 3 freezers.. frozen packaged bangus and other pre-cooked dried fish, chicken and pork longanisa, chicken and pork tocino.. etc etc etc! I seriously feel like a kid in a candy store. Atbp saves me time and gas money as oppose to driving out to an asian store way out on Bellaire and wasting time trying to distinguish the difference between chinese, vietnamese, and filipino products.. not that it matters, but sometimes I want to find a true filipino product without hassle. By the way, my dish came out perrrfect, as always ;) Pancit craving satisfied but now I'm craving arroz caldo! Maraming salamat, Atbp! (meaning: Thank you very much, Atbp!)

The parking was a bit of a challenge, but it was easy enough because it was a calm Tuesday morning. To get from the parking area to the store, you just take the elevator one level down, and then you're right inside. This place is surprisingly big, filled with all kinds of snacks, cookies, and coffee. The highlight for me was their shawarma breakfast wrap. It was top-notch and exactly what I needed. You choose between whole wheat or white pita, and it's filled with scrambled eggs, your choice of fresh or sautéed spinach, and they add potatoes as well. Then they top it with shawarma chicken, tomato, and a delicious sauce. For $8.5 it was worth every bite. Hands down, a five out of five. I also tried their coffee, which was just a standard brew sitting in ice for hours and nothing special. At $2.50, it was fine, but nothing to write home about. The real stars were the cookies. I got a coconut pecan cookie and an almond crunch cookie, and both were absolutely delicious. I didn't have time to explore the whole store, but there was a great selection of fresh produce, chocolates, and all sorts of small treats. Overall, the staff were really friendly, and the entire visit was smooth. I'll definitely be back next time I'm in the area. Five out of five stars!

Plenty of healthy and not so healthy but delicious options, the breakfast chicken shawarma wrap was a great way to start the day with fresh squeezed orange juice. They have a great selection of salads and some sandwiches which were a quick and easy lunch. The MKT Bar had a warm bowl of chili on a cold day which was just what I needed. A great one stop shop with groceries as well!

They stare at you like a deer in headlights; mouth wide open, eyes bucked out of the socket, looking more uncomfortable than a baby tasting a lemon for the first time. Thank goodness there were natives in the store, not that it helped ease me. Though, they left quick and scurried across the store without even having contact with us. The male owner was helpful, but acted as if I was a lot younger than my age and treated me like I was ignorant. I couldn't find the sweet Indian snack, but I did find something a lot better. Lots of Indian snacks, sweets, ingredients, frozen foods, teas, and even fresh produce. The prices seemed pricey, not so much reasonable. No expired goods. I can't say I'll be back to this store as Hwy 3 is known for having lots of Indian grocery.

I especially like they carry Creme Franchise, that is hard to find. They have great selection in the prepackage foods like hummus and on the go salads. This also extends into the frozen section. I love their precut flowers as most of the time they are way under what other locations are doing. If you want to get a bouquet to brighten up your home, this is the go to place. Judging by the well stock selections others seem to think the same too. While they have their famous two buck chuck, I look for wine deals and they are very good with the white wines. This location is not the biggest, but it does have everything you might need. Ring the bell if you get great service!

That said, as much as I enjoy TJ's, this location could use a few improvements. The checkout setup is one of the worst I've seen -- the single-line queue just doesn't seem to work well here and tends to back up. C'mon, this is Texas, everything is supposed to be bigger... the checkout area included. Another thing I've noticed is that the store always seems freezing inside, which makes browsing a bit less comfortable than it should be. Overall, still a good Trader Joe's for the products we all love, but the layout and comfort could definitely be better. Saluti.
