A great little local brewery. We walked in for a break from the heat. The food selection is okay with the highlight being the fish burger that is wonderful and deep fried cauliflower is another highlight for food selection. The beer selection is very good, after all this is a brewery. From pilsner through porter all of the boxes for me. The service here is pretty good with ordering at the bar for food and beverage. Decent crowd due to the World Cup. They have plenty of drinks due to their brewery. They also have a nice selection of food (for a brewery) but it is a bit pricey for bar food. For instance, $20 for a smash burger. Anyway, good food if you don't mind the prices. We stopped in for a drink then left to eat elsewhere. read more

We had difficulties finding a dining spot near our lodging without a long wait. Thankfully, Ola Brew was able to sit us immediately. Started with flight of Hard Juice (enjoyed the Lilikoi orange and GLO). Lechon was crispy and well-prepared. I love a good brewery so I had to check out Ola when reading up on where to grab a drink on the Big Island. They have a small parking lot with a couple spots but it's in an industrial area so there's street parking. Throughout the time we were there it was great to see the staff engaging with the regulars and be so welcoming. The space is a little unassuming at first as you need to order inside but they seem to have plenty of connecting indoor spaces and even outdoor spaces for large groups. We opted for bar seating so we could watch the game while we enjoyed our flights. The flights were a great way to try their classic beers and some of their seltzers. read more

Ola Brew in Kailua-Kona offers great beer and unique hard seltzers, teas, and juices. We got the OG beer flight and lemon lime hard seltzer. The OG beer flight was a fun way to taste all the local beers they brew, and the hard seltzer was light and refreshing. I've had their other hard seltzers and I'd say the lemon lime wasn't my favorite flavor, but the ginger and hibiscus lavender are yummy! Vibe: The restaurant has a slightly dark, chill vibe with multiple TVs playing sports games throughout the restaurant. You can order your drinks at the bar. They have food, which we didn't order but all the dishes that others were eating looked delicious! The staff were friendly and the restaurant itself wasn't too crowded, but had a fun vibe that wasn't too loud or rowdy. Came by for a late-night bite since nothing much was open. The review is just for the food since we didn't get to try the beers and wasn't there when their is live music - likely would be great ambiance. The burger and wings were both decent. The wings are not tossed though - all come naked and you have the dip it in the sauce of your choice. Probably enjoyed the burger a little more than the wings. Beer is the best on the island by far BUT the food needs improving. The waiter told me the fish and chips were tempura battered and it was extremely far from that. It was literally battered like a hot dog and was soggy. I wouldn't call this fish and chips. The coleslaw it came with wasn't even dressed and the vegetables looked like they've been sitting in the fridge for days. My boyfriend got the wings which came recommended by the bartender. Not much parking in the lot, but could be easy to find on the street! It was our first stop of our Hawaii trip since I came in through a late flight. Walking in, the vibes were really nice! They had a live singer and people in the restaurant were also singing along. At the counter, we ordered a pestoroni pizza and a sunset drink to share. Honestly the pizza took a longggg while for some reason, we were just about to call in and check for the update, but finally our pizza arrived. First few bites, the pizza was really nice (probably bc I was hungry) but after settling in and thinking about it... it's just a pepperoni pizza with pesto sauce 'drizzle' haha. I wish the crust was softer, but it's a basic pizza. Gets the job done. Trying the sunset drink, it was our first time trying something like this, or a "hard juice" and I guess it's quite literal. I remembered it just being a sweet juice drink, but it tasted alright. Solid place to go to if anywhere else is closed. I liked the vibes here the most! read more

Here's the thing there's a lot of things that I really like about this place. The food is pretty good. If you're looking to fill up and have a lot of food this might not be the one you want. But it's tasty food. The portion sizes are not equal. We saw a plate go by with fish and chips, and it was really generous with fish and so we ordered it and then when ours came, it was not quite so generous, and we were disappointed. And we had one basket that had a lot of fries and another basket but didn't have a lot of fries so I'm not sure if there's some quality control going on back there or what but that might be something that could be looked at because they should be equal. On that note service where to start I get that large parties might be hard, but in this in parties, here are not hard. You see yourself. You order yourself. You go to the bar and then you order. You get your own water you get your own drinks you get your own food. There shouldn't be a lot of service other than bringing the things to you. Requiring a gratuity of 20%, which is if you ask me extreme for a group of six or more is frustrating at the very least... at the point that we showed up there was very little else open, and there were six of us... given our odds of finding anything else open we ate here anyway... and even though we weren't completely full, we decided not to order anything else because we were gonna get hit with another 20% to order... and that's for us to go to the bar and order our own food and wait for it like a fast food place?? so I gotta ask why is there a 20% gratuity for the same level of service as everybody else that's here at this place? Everyone is here goes to the bar orders the food. Everyone that's here sits down at their own table that they find. There are plenty of large tables or we can split up our own party. When you tip for service ahead of time, it really doesn't encourage good service either. I'm beating a dead horse. Let's move on shall we? The brown ale divine... the lilikoi orange hard juice also amazing, dry if you like that... fish and chips was really tasty again. Ours was a little slim compared to another one we saw...? Maybe it's just luck of the draw but tasty, tastes really fresh. Tacos not very big but very yummy. I got the side salad. I was told it wouldn't have tomatoes, but it did have one sliced so if you have allergies, beware... I do, but luckily they were on the side of the salad, and I took my chances. My allergies are mild. Asking the kids about the burgers they said they're great. I think they might've still been a little on the hungry side afterwards, but they are teenagers?? The chicken wings were really tasty and cooked right. Ranch was good, like homemade? But the buffalo sauce was a little sweet. Pizza is only available in 10 inch size and was light and very tasty. The beer battered cauliflower is a must eat with their ola sauce and soy garlic sauce. They don't have much in the way of cutlery, mostly you have to eat with your hands. You can get a to go box if you want to share, I didn't see plates. There is water available for you to take. But the beer is great and the food is good. I really like the mushroom pizza. Hubby devoured his burger. AC was cold, beer was cold, food was hot and tasty. Well I have always loved Ola Brew but I hate - like detest - like nails on a chalkboard- country music ( sorry if you like it , I really don't ) so when it was my last night in Hawaii and we headed here / this was the last thing o expected and it killed the whole experience for me ! Play me rock, play me top 40, play Hawaiian slack - hell drag out Christmas but don't play me Country music!! Ola brew is one of our favorite spots when visiting Hawaii island. Not only are the beers delicious, but the atmosphere is perfect for dates, large groups, and visiting tourists/locals alike. A favorite of mine is the Kiawe porter, which is intermittently available in our local stores on Oahu. This round, also tried their dragonfruit Lilikoi milkshake IPA, which was so different than anything I've ever drank. We love how they utilize local flavors and trends, and tend to have a variety outside of straight IPAs on their menu regularly. In addition to beer, this community-owned brewery produces seltzers, alcoholic juices, and are breaking out in the spirit market. Many are available for sale in 6 packs as well at their storefront. We have tried food here, and for your standard bar/brew fare, we were pleased. And! They have TVs in case you're looking for a more laid back scene on a Saturday or Sunday for sports.
