Really think this should be called an appetizer size Pizza
    Mark F.

Since these reviews are generally food-centric, I'm going to focus on the food, not the beer, because the beard ola has always been top notch. No complaints whatsoever there. Food-wise, we ordered the fungi pizza with added chicken and jalapenos. We were both pretty disappointed at what $26 got us in the way of what looked like a kids size pizza. The arugula was great but it was almost a salad on top of the pizza by itself so it made it very hard to grab some arugula. While you're trying to manage a slice of pizza. The pizza wasn't bad but just really didn't have a lot of pizzazz (pun intended). Would I order it again, maybe, but not at the $26 price for what you get. I know things are high here. We're regular and repeat visitors of the islands, but I think ola could do a little bit better with their prices for something so small.

First time visitor at the Taproom. Very nice facility on Luhia St. just up the road from Target. Tried a flight of 4. Ma'a lager was very good, not crazy about the Hazy Light, Porter was very good, Strata Pilsner was very good. Good service. Didn't eat here but nice looking menu. Will eat next time. Good ambiance.

A great little local brewery. We walked in for a break from the heat. The air conditioning was blowing but only seemed to move the warm area around. The main seating area has a limited table selection. But let's get vwck to the beer and food. The food selection is okay with the highlight being the fish burger that is wonderful and deep fried cauliflower is another highlight for food selection. The beer selection is very good, after all this is a brewery. From pilsner through porter all of the boxes for me. The service here is pretty good with ordering at the bar for food and beverage. There is another brewery just down the street that might be a slightly better choice.

Ola Brew isn't as well known as Kona Brewing, but it's a nice alternative. It's very casual, and mostly self-serve. You choose any open table, and walk up to the bar to order. There's a water and utensils station that you help yourself to. I don't drink beer, but the folks I was with enjoyed their beverages. As for the food menu, it's not bad. There's some salads, some pizzas, and some "favorites". What we ordered: + Beer battered cauliflower - not bad, but a bit too much batter. + Fried fish burger - yummy - fish was crispy and flakey. + Chicken wings - winner + Pepperoni pizza - quite good if you like your crust bready, which I do. Overall, a chill place to hang out and enjoy yourself.

Great selection of beer one of the best on the Big Island. We had the burger and pizza and chicken wings. Was good for the brew .staff are very friendly chill place to hang out.

Great ambiance, staff, drinks, food, convenient parking, outdoor seating, dog and family friendly. Every time we visit we end up here, looking forward to visiting their Hilo location soon, too. Distilled spirits, locally owned, hard seltzer and tea, tap beer and flights available. Bao buns were on today's special when we ordered at the counter. Hubs had fish and chips, and our friends split an Ola Burger, my vegan and GF beet salad was the bomb.

Decent crowd due to the World Cup. They have plenty of drinks due to their brewery. They also have a nice selection of food (for a brewery) but it is a bit pricey for bar food. For instance, $20 for a smash burger. Anyway, good food if you don't mind the prices. We stopped in for a drink then left to eat elsewhere.

We had difficulties finding a dining spot near our lodging without a long wait. Thankfully, Ola Brew was able to sit us immediately. Started with flight of Hard Juice (enjoyed the Lilikoi orange and GLO). Lechon was crispy and well-prepared. Dan Dan Gnocchi was an amazing experience: Pillowy gnocchi infused with Asian-influenced sauce (slightly sweet, a bit spicy), topped with peanut, aliʻi mushroom, gentle and well-balanced.

Fish sandwich was very fresh and the fries were very good touch! The burger is also a good option as well. We enjoyed the flights they had to offer but some of the "hard juices" are a bit too bitter. I had the "OG BEER" flight and 3/4 were pretty good!

Ola Brewing has something for everyone - beer, seltzer and hard juice. Husband got a custom flight and I ordered the dragonfruit lemonade. They even gave me small tasters of other hard juices. The beet salad was delicious and a nice option to get those greens in while on the island. The wings were a little dry but crispy and not fatty. Definitely worth a stop if you're in the area. Reasonable pricing. Super friendly bartenders. TVs playing sports if that's your thing. Free street parking

Great spot to watch a game and enjoy some beer and food. There are a few spots in the front lot but additional street parking available. We ordered the roasted beet salad with chicken and 6 buffalo wings. The food came out fast and had great flavor. The bartender was very friendly and provided us with recommendations not only for Ola but also in the area. He even switched the tv to a game I wanted to watch. The beer was also cold and had numerous options. I opted for a flight initially which you get to choose any 4. Highly recommend checking them out.

Super good vibe even on a mid day Wednesday! Island vibe music was good and loud. Beer and hard juice flight was excellent. Bao Bun special was on point. Phil's steak was our favorite. Locals Kept coming in the later it got. It's clear this is a hangout for the hard working and retired of the big island. As vacationers We felt comfy and stayed quiet a while. All they need is a dance floor cause we were feeling the jams.

I love a good brewery so I had to check out Ola when reading up on where to grab a drink on the Big Island. They have a small parking lot with a couple spots but it's in an industrial area so there's street parking. Throughout the time we were there it was great to see the staff engaging with the regulars and be so welcoming. The space is a little unassuming at first as you need to order inside but they seem to have plenty of connecting indoor spaces and even outdoor spaces for large groups. We opted for bar seating so we could watch the game while we enjoyed our flights. The flights were a great way to try their classic beers and some of their seltzers.

Absolutely! We just ask that they do not sit directly at the bar. Thank you for asking! And thank you all for answering as well!

Can you bring food into the brewery?

No outside food is allowed. They have a full menu.

According to their website, this is the "Home of Da Garlic Furikake Chicken" so you'll want to try that dish. I ordered the Braised Beef Shortribs off their Specials menu and went with the Twisty Fries as my choice of side. The Shortribs were unbelievably tender but just a tad bit sweet for my liking, and the Twisty Fries were absolutely phenomenal. The items are made to order so you get a bit more freshness than food sitting under a heat lamp. The rice is well cooked, but the batter is a bit heavy on the items, and one piece of chicken I bit into had a weird funk to it. The mac salad on the platter was good -- not too heavy with mayo and the noodles were cooked well. Similarly, I liked that the rice was not mushy and each grain stood on its own. Would I stop by again for a plate? Most likely not. One last nit-pick with Hawaii BBQ Deli is that the pricing is wildly incorrect. We looked at the menu online before stopping by and were surprised that we were charged a price higher than what was listed on the menu. We didn't question it and just paid the price, but it was a bit annoying that the menu in store on the counter was out-of-date and the price could have been entirely made up on the spot.

This all came out to $31.30 after tax, which is almost the same price as their large plate at $35.00, with two fewer scoops of rice. Of the items we ordered, the ube coconut was by far my favorite. I am definitely coming back again for more of this. I've never had ube in this format before, but the mild sweetness of the potato came through, and I enjoyed the chunky mashed potato texture. The next item I liked from the plate was the mac salad. I can't remember the last time I've had mac salad with this much black pepper sprinkled throughout it. The black pepper brought an unexpected amount of heat. Additionally, I thought the noodle were cooked perfectly. In most mac salads that I've had, the macaroni has been cooked far too long, but that was not the case here. I also appreciate that the mac salad was not drowned with mayo, another flaw I commonly see with this dish. Although the poke here is fresh, and the pieces are nicely cut -- all uniform in size, I thought the poke was a bit too salty, and needed to be enjoyed with the rice. The rice itself was a bit on the mushy side. Overall, we had a pretty solid meal at Paakai Poke & Deli. If you're in this area, stop by for the coconut ube -- you won't regret it.
