I had pretty big expectations since i like Kona's beers so much, but it was just ok. I got a flight and we ordered a pizza, nachos, and the kahlua pork tacos. Nothing really wowed me. The service was pretty bad, the guy didn't even bring me a water. I also probably would have gotten a shirt but nobody was working in the retail area, i waited a few minutes. The decor inside is pretty cool.
This place was super cool!! We came just for drinks after already eating dinner, and tried the flight. I loved the cute little map that comes with the flight to remember what each beer is. The service was also very fast and friendly. Even though most other patrons were also there to eat dinner, we never felt rushed or disregarded for only ordering a little flight of beers. We really enjoyed the beers and would definitely go back again, maybe for food as well next time.
We visited on a Wednesday afternoon. There is a free parking lot. There are plenty of tables outside. There are also tables inside with AC and restrooms. I ordered the paradise cider 9/10 and also a Red Ale 9/10. We did not order food based on the past reviews. I think part of the restaurant needs to have a paint make over especially on the restroom women's door and some dining tables. It looks a little tired. The beer & service were great.
I'm not a beer person, but my friend is, and she was excited to try most southern brewery in the US (it is, she checked). We didn't have a reservation, but stopped by mid day. They were not busy, so we were immediately seated on the covered patio. It's a pleasant area, shaded and surrounded by greenery. My friend ordered a flight: The red- enjoyed, not too malty. The hazy IPA- superb. She really likes IPAs to begin with. Felt it was the perfect amount of hops. Pink Boots (special)- Good, nothing to write home about. Pale Ale- "It's a pale ale." Lilikoi- (passionfruit) good, fruity flavor without being too sweet. Not as light as she expected. They were out of the lemongrass. I had the rotating cider from Paradise Cider, during this visit it was Hang Loose Juice, a topical fruit cider, it was sweet but very good. We also split the pepperoni pizza roll, good size and filling. They also offer cocktails, seltzers, and non alcoholic options. So all of you other non beer drinkers can support your brewery loving friends. They also have a small shop area in the front.

When we checked in, the host at the entrance told us there'd be a long wait, close to an hour, and even suggested go to the restaurant next door instead of waiting. We asked if we could sit in the bar area, and he said food couldn't be served there. We decided to check out the bar anyway and hang out while waiting for a table. Once we got there, the waitress sat us immediately and let us know we could order food along with our beers, which was a pleasant surprise. Our waitress was super friendly, which definitely improved the experience. Overall, I'd come back for the beer and maybe a snack, but probably not for a full meal. We ordered the nachos and a pizza. The nacho cheese was interesting, and the pizza was decent, but nothing particularly memorable.

I don't usually drink beer and rarely enjoy it, since I'm still learning to understand different flavors, but these beers were surprisingly delicious. We also ordered chicken wings, which were good as well. However, we didn't like the avocado fries. They were kind of weird. Maybe it's just not our taste, but they didn't meet our expectations. The downside for us was the price. For the beers, chicken wings, and fries, it felt a bit expensive for what I'd consider appetizers. I wish they were a little more affordable. Overall, it was a nice place, and we would love to come back if we travel to the Big Island again.
Great food, very nice server and team. Had to wait about 20 minutes in line, but we arrived at peak lunch time and didn't have a reservation- suggest a reservation during busy times. Only reviewing the restaurant here, Cubano sandwich, fish tacos and chicken tacos all got great reviews at our table. Ordered a pizza to go for supper after seeing some delicious looking ones on other tables.
Wonderful service and outside seating was superb on this day. They let me sample my beer before ordering and both of us loved our brews. The pizza is good, but not amazing. Although the sausage and macadamia nuts were delicious on the pizza. The restaurant has monopolized the parking in the area and that was a bit disappointing when we returned later to check out the shops and another nearby restaurant.
We visited this place 25 years ago on our first trip to the Big Island so decided to revisit this time as we headed out to the airport and really loved it! We were sat right away on the fun patio that despite the heat is cool and covered with tropical plants! And had great service throughout! Enjoyed an IPA flight and Poke Bowl , one of my kids had the fish tacos which were fantastic and the other had a beet salad with a really delicious grilled cheese; my husband has the pulled pork tacos which were also a hit! Loved revisiting and a great way to end our trip!
Place was busy on a Tuesday night. Service was good but feel they might have been short staffed our waitress was busy and running around frantically. Food came out fast. Pizza was quicker than expected. They ran out of a few things as to be expected if it's good. They ran out of poke and black olives. Beer was good got some Samples 4-$20 and a full size lava man. I liked that one! Place was loud with the music but was not to over powering. They ended and the place was still nice outside. Was happy to make it to a brewery I have never been to.
This was our first restaurant visit on the Big Island. We came in on a Monday and this place was already packed. I recommend making reservations if you don't want to wait 30-45 minutes as a walk in. I did not think it would be busy on a Monday, so we had a 45-minute wait. We came here again on Wednesday, but this time with reservations. This place is worth the stop, my husband tried two of their beers. Pints of Paradise were $7.25. I had the Lemongrass Luau and I am not a beer drinker, but this was easy and fruity enough for me to enjoy. We ordered two pizzas 1) Pepperoni and Cheese for the kiddos and 2) The Captain. This was soo good and their ranch is yummy too. Food was great, service was good and it's a cozy atmosphere. I recommend checking this place out. If you're hungry after a flight, a craft beer fan visiting the island, this is the place!
Liquid Aloha they say - that's right!!! Enjoyed the ambiance and relaxed outdoor space after a hot day exploring Kona! We enjoyed flights of delicious beer to sample, pizza (The Captain with pepperoni, olives, tomato, mushroom and sausage), and a very yummy BrewBen sando with yummy smoked pastrami, melted Swiss, extra gonchujang dressing [too good not to slather on] and kimchi cucumbers on the side. BrewBen needs more bacon jam - need to get more next time! Food was high quality - we would definitely make another stop here!
We booked the brewery tour and had plenty of time to grab a quick bite to eat along with a delicious Kona brew. We split the pizza rolls. Wow! These are incredible and I need the recipe. I am going to have to make these or try to make them. They are so delicious. We had some of the best service. I never had to ask for a refill. Our waitress was so attentive. I love the whole vibe of the brew brewery. It was time for our brewery tour and we loaded the bus and went to the brewery. We had a great tour guide. The samples were plenty and we learned a lot about the process of making tasty Kona beer. I wish we could get more of the different flavors in the intercontinental states. Our last stop before we left was to the gift shop where we stocked up on T-shirts for family members and of course for us as well. I wish they shipped beyond Hawaii because there's more I wish I could've bought. I just knew I could not fit it all in a suitcase maybe someday. Make sure you stop here if you are in Kona. Get a beer enjoy some food and definitely take the tour.

The tour itself is fantastic and educational if you want to learn the actual science and craft behind beer brewing. A major highlight of the experience is discovering that this specific brewery brews exclusively for the islands, keeping production local rather than shipping it out for mainland distribution. It gives the entire visit a truly authentic, exclusive feel. What truly elevated the entire experience from great to unforgettable, though, was our tour guide, Dave. Whether you know him as "Dave the coffee man," "the man," "Dave the heavy pour guy," or "the Costco rotisserie 4.99," he is hands-down the best tour guide ever. His knowledge, energy, and humor made the educational breakdown incredibly engaging and fun. Great beer, fascinating local insights, and world-class guiding. Don't skip this one! read more
We stopped in on a Sunday afternoon ~ 1:45 p.m. I haven't been here in a while so I was pleasantly surprised to find plenty of parking spaces as well as seats in the restaurant. We went to the bar area because in the past, without reservations, that was your only real shot of getting seated without a significant wait. That wasn't an issue today. We both ordered a large pizza. I got the Captain, and my buddy did a "Build your own" with 3-4 ingredients. We each had a single drink (pint of beer and a vodka soda) and the check including tip was $100. That is a lot of money for two pizzas, and two drinks. I will say our server was on top of it the entire time. She checked on us several times and was great. My pizza was good. I feel like they subtracted some ingredients from the past but it was tasty. The sauce had a hint of sweetness but not over the top. I did like the crust, although some may have found it to be slightly undercooked; it was but I didn't mind. Our orders came out quickly, pizzas were tasty, service was great. 4/5 stars because for pizza, it seems a bit pricey. read more

Great brewery, super tasty food options, and very friendly/accommodating staff. We walked right in and got a table. The frozen Mai Thai was AMAZING (and strong). Highly recommend! We got the fist tacos, edamame, and spinach salad. Everything was really good! read more

Finally got to visit this brewery and loved their selection! Back home, I always enjoyed the Kona Big Wave Golden Ale on a good relaxing day out, so I wanted to check out the brewery for some different tastes. The Liliko'i Kea became my favorite. We ordered a small Kohala Pizza which is 6 pieces (large is 8). Was enough for the two of us. A delicious pizza to enjoy with any beer. Overall, I recommend! Their gift shop closes right at 9 pm, their brewery close time. If you are already seated before 9 pm, they will serve you until you are done. Although last call is right at 9. read more

One of my favorite places to come when visiting big island. As usual it's packed with a wait but while waiting you can enjoy a small selection of beer. If you like coconut flavors i recommend pipeline porter. The place has a chill and mellow vibe. They have a bar indoors that's first come first served. To find a bar seat, best to come early. Food wise they have a nice assortment. My friends and I shared a bunch of apps and a salad which was plenty as I tend to fill up on beer. They hace 4oz, 12oz and 16oz sizes and can also do a tasting flight read more

Amazing food, beer, service, and ambiance. I loved getting the beer flight and picking 4 beers to try. My fish tacos were fresh and tasty, and we loved the macadamia nut brownie. Sitting outside in the afternoon/night was beautiful with all the lights. Highly recommend checking this place out and I would come back for a brewery tour. read more

We came here after a beach day and it is so nice in the outdoor area. When I went inside, it was nice too but I got cold as I went to use the bathroom. There are tikis lit up along the side and we sat across from their souvenir store. The waiter was super nice and suggested seasonal beers and I ordered the oktoberfest. My mom got the fruit punch. It was perfect after a day on the beach. We also ordered the smashburger and the kulua pork tacos. My mom said the pineapple salsa had a kick to it, but I have a high tolerance for spice and I did not think it was spicy. I would say it depends on your tolerance. The meat was tender for both and we enjoyed our food. I definitely want to come back for the laid-back vibes. read more

I like the atmosphere here. Not bright and sterile. Perfect little bar inside. Good music. Couple TVs. I was here at 4pm and was well attended to. Madison was my server and came by so many times. Maybe if my expectations weren't so high from other reviews I would have given 5 stars but I really don't understand why people love this place so much. What bothered me was that this place was basically #1 recommend restaurants for kids on the big island. I don't know what influencer they paid to advocate for this being a kid's restaurant because they don't even have French fries!! The chips weren't that great and the kids food options were present, but limited. I ordered the overly priced fish tacos and they were just ok. The fish was tough and the sauce was just okay. The pizza was pretty good. It tasted homemade! I recommend just ordering a big pizza to share because that, for me, was where the rave reviews might have come from. What also bothered us was that when we were first seated at our table they literally gave us the only table that was right in the sun. The sun was setting and it was blinding. There were plenty of other tables that were cleaned and ready so we just moved our stuff to another table. We couldn't even wait for a host because the sun was setting and was way too blinding. We did alert the host as soon as we moved tables and they at least were okay with our change. I think we will try other local restaurants before we visit this location again. Unless they add French fries to the menu, lol. read more

The honey-hefe was cold & tasty, but chose the fish tacos. Had to order without the crema because of severe allergy to the avocado. Waitress was a doll and the place was cool and comfy. The mahi mahi tacos for me, were very dry and not seasoned at all. read more
Kona Brewing Co. offers daily paid tours of their brewery that comes with samples of beer and an educational walking tour of where their beer is made. On the tour, which you can book online, you get to see the entire beer creation process -- from brewing the beer to packaging the beer. You can buy cans of beer to-go at the restaurant, as well as pupus, entrees, and tap beer! Vibe: The restaurant has outdoor and indoor seating, but didn't get the chance to eat there this time. The last time we ate there, the service was spot-on and the food was pretty decent bar food. The brewery and tour area is very cool and they even provide you with a shuttle ride from the restaurant area to where the tour takes place. They also have a little gift shop at the restaurant and the brewery. Parking: They have free parking available in a huge lot right in front of the entrance to the restaurant. read more

This place was hoppin', but we got seated quickly. It's touristy but that's fine (we're tourists)! It's got that tiki bar vibe (I mean, you're in HI, of course) which is cute. Our waitress was the sweetest and engaged with our 7 year old who talks nonstop. It took a bit to get our food but once we got it, it was fine. We got the Kalua pork with rice as an appetizer, I got the fish tacos with a Mac salad, husband the burger with a Mac salad and kid got pizza with chips. For dessert, we got a massive grape flavored shaved ice. Husband also got an IPA which he said was really good. My only gripe was the food could've used a bit more flavor. I'd still recommend this place though if you're in the area. read more

This is the best brewery I have been to. The experience here was so great and it's such a fun place. We did the brewery tour and then stopped in for dinner afterwards. If you have a chance to do the tour, do it! You get to sample a few of their best brews and see how it all happens behind the scenes. Plus you get a keychain. We ended up getting an order of the pizza rolls which were so tasty! I mean how could they not be?! We also got the burger and a salad as well. Super delicious and we were so hungry, hence they didn't stand a chance for a picture before we ate them up. The service here is very friendly and super easy to flag down if you have questions. The vibes here are top notch. Anytime you visit the Big Island, make this a stop on your adventure. read more

We always make it a point to stop at breweries on our travels, and Kona Brewing Co. absolutely did not disappoint! Our server, Emily, was fantastic--super friendly, attentive, and really elevated the experience. The food was incredible across the board. We ordered the Brew-Ben and the Poke Bowl, along with the Captain, Margherita, and Wild Mushroom pizzas--everything was delicious and fresh. On the tap list, the Spruce IPA was a great, unique beer to try, and we also loved the Gold Cliff and the Mahea Haze. If you're a craft beer fan visiting the island, this is a mandatory stop! read more

Food was amazing, drinks of course amazing, and the atmosphere is beautiful. I hope you get the privilege that my fiancé and I got of having Charmaine as our server. She made us feel like we've been coming here for years (it was our first time) and that we were family. I go to a lot of restaurants all over the world, and she made this experience amazing. Ran out of 2 of the 5 beers I wanted to order to try a flight. A brewery of this size should never really be running out of any of their staple beers IMO. The ones I wanted to order were the Lemongrass Luau and the Wailua wheat. Wish they had a normal tasting room instead of just a tour and a restaurant with bar. But that's how it's set up. They also didn't tell me any limited selections , but this would've been good to know. **update apparently two I ordered were limited brews according to the sign above the bar, but they were on the regular menu so not really. Outside bar had a different limited release listed, a special IPA that was not listed anywhere inside. So whatevas lol. My wife ordered the pineapple upside down cake ($14) for dessert and it was not bad but not amazing either. Kind of par for the course with our full experience. Would still go back, maybe for a tour or if they have a new limited release of beer. And to try the two beers I couldn't sample. Giving 3/5 stars read more

First stop we ate at with the family during our visit and it did not disappoint! We sat outside and admired the lanai like setting with big tropical palms and lit tiki torches. It was a bit busier during dinner time so we had to flag someone down to notice us but after that the service was great. I did a custom pizza with sausage, olive and pineapple - it was delicious! I also ordered the 4-flight of beers and liked how they gave you a menu to place each one you got. Beers were great! My favorite was Castaway and Gold Cliff. Setting was chill with Hawaiian music playing, overall a great spot to eat and drink craft beers. They also sell merch and 6-packs of beer to take home! read more

Very happy with our experience here. I have been wanting to try their restaurant since I started drinking their beer a decade ago. We were seated right away, even though we had a large group. Our server was very attentive and checked on us constantly. We ordered some drinks and pizza. The drinks were fantastic and so was the pizza. It was a classic combo and it made the night very enjoyable. The pizza had amazing flavor and the crust was so delicious and chewy. Overall, I would say I was glad I came and would definitely come back. Ypur trip to the big island has to include a trip here. I would highly recommend for families and large groups. read more

Do they deliver with any food delivery apps?
Is there free parking?
Yes, there is free parking in a huge, spacious parking lot located right in front of the entrance to Kona Brewing.
Are there any non alcoholic beers available?
I don't think there are; at least they were not available during the free tour tasting experience. I would contact Kona Brewing to see if their are any available at the restaurant area.
Can you call ahead to be put on the waiting list?
No reservations. No calling ahead to be put on the waitlist.
Can my dog and i sit in the outdoor area?
In Hawaii it is customary to allow your dog to sit with you in the outdoor areas from my experience, as long as the dog is relaxed and can lie underneath the table without getting in the way of servers or people passing through
Does anyone know if this place is good for large take away orders for a party?
Yes, they sell beer by the keg
Do they have air conditioning?
Yes, however inside seating is on a first come first served basis.
Does Kona Brewing Company have televisions for watching football games?
Aloha. We do not have televisions at the Kona Brew pub on Big Island.
When is happy hour?
Aloha. Stoked Hour Specials are available Monday-Friday 3pm-5pm. Currently Includes $2 off Liquid Aloha Pints, $3 Pizza Slice, $3.95 Pork Tacos, $4.95 Pepperoni Rolls + other select food items.
Can they sit large groups inside?
Yeah they can move tables around inside, but I didn't see a separate room for really big groups.
Do they have alcoholic drinks other than beer?
We're literally sitting here and no, they don't. We asked.
Are there televisions to watch a game?
No there isn't. Just stopped there and called.
Do you have to be 21 just to eat there?
No. There was actually a lot of kids there when we visited.
