BEWARE OF PRICE GAUGING - Minooka Aminal Hospital. I was told I needed a prescription for my kitten which I gladly went to pick up. The bill was $100. A few minutes after leaving I did a little research and found that these are available elsewhere and that a prescription is not required. I can get the same exact items elsewhere for HALF the price. I totally understand that markups are to be expected but at 100%?!?! I called immediately and was told that I could not come back for a refund and that I would have to wait for the office manager to call me. She never called me back and I was finally able to get in contact with her after 3 attempts. In the end she told me that company policy is that they would NOT take them back nor provide any sort of refund. In my opinion the word "prescription" means that you can't get it over the counter and only through a veterinarian. I should have been given the option so that I could do some research beforehand to determine where I would make my purchase. I fully support local businesses and I did try and do the right thing and reach out to the business for resolution but there was no compassion nor willingness to compromise. I've only been here once, and I'm convinced that these folks are scam artists. My senior cat suddenly became violently ill, and I rushed her here, knowing it was the closest vet to my home. They ran a blood test and gave the cat an IV, as she was dehydrated. At the conclusion of the visit, I stepped to the front desk to pay. Since this was an unplanned emergency visit, I left home without my check book, and I had limited funds available on my debit card. I asked if I could pay a portion of the fee then, and the balance at a later date. I was told that they don't do that, as it was against policy, and that the total needed to be paid in full. They suggested that I apply online for a credit card that they recommend, which I would be able to use to pay for future vet visits, pet supplies, etc. I told them no, I didn't want to apply for a credit card. After being told that this was the only solution, I relented. I was escorted to a back office to a waiting computer, with the website to this credit card company already set up, so I could apply for this card (with 26% interest. Seriously???) After completing the online form with my personal information, I submitted the application, only to have it declined. I was then escorted back to the front desk, where my payment information was recorded manually on a piece of paper, so the balance of the payment could be processed at a later date. In other words, we ended up doing exactly what I had requested in the first place. It was my fault that I did not have sufficient funds with me at the time. However I felt it was highly inappropriate that I should be pressured to apply for a credit card that I didn't even want, during an emergency vet visit. The whole thing seemed very shady. Given the circumstances, I would have thought the front desk staff could have shown some degree of compassion and flexibility. There was none. I can only assume that this office receives some sort of kickback ($$$) from the credit card company for each customer who applies for a card. People who take their pets to any veterinarian office for medical care should never feel pressured to apply for a credit card. The only plus side to the whole visit was the vet who assisted me. She was very patient with my terrified cat, and took a lot of time to explain the options to me. Unfortunately, I don't recall her name, as I left the building feeling traumatized by the whole exchange. However I do remember Cheri's name. She works at the front desk of this establishment, and she's probably the most rude and condescending person I've encountered in a customer service position. I'm convinced that at the end of a long work day, she hops on a broomstick and flies home. I will never use this veterinarian office again. read more

Dr. Simon is really a really amazing Vet and you can tell she genuinely loves animals. I have two rescue dogs, who suffer from severe anxiety, one who came from an abusive situation My Beagle Border collie Jack trembles and shakes when he knows he has to go to the doctor, but she is always able to have a calming effect on him. Jack also has chronic ear infections and has to get medication that can add up if we had to take him in everytime. She is pretty good about just giving us the medicine without having to come in each time. She takes her time and doesn't ever seem to be in a hurry. read more

I took my 8 month old German shepherd puppy to this vet. 1st of all they were all scared of the dog. They wouldn't cut her nails, barely did anything and my bill was almost $300. I had to go to a different vet to finish my visit for shots, and I dremmeled her nails myself. They wanted me to drug her and come back another day. As a retired animal control officer I have delt with many fearful and aggressive dogs, and these people acted like they have never seen a fearful dog or, in my case, a fearful puppy. They need to find a different profession. I did her nails myself and then paid a 2nd vet bill where they took her in the back away from me, which makes her not hide by me or try and protect me. She got everything done, no drugs. Plus, her weight was off by 25lbs and since shots and meds go by weight, that was disturbing. I won't go back for multiple reasons and I'm sure they are happy since they are scared of dogs. read more

Been a customer here for years and out of all the places that let covid go to their heads this place really lost it.. Had a dog with a extreme sudden ear ache and she needed help quickly, they said ok in a month? So I repeat its an extreme ear ache.. worst I've ever seen for a dog.. ok next week? quite disappointed in them to not even make attempt to see their customer, well X customer.. called another vet explained the circumstances and I was in the next morning and the pup was feeling better by mid day.. take care minooka animal hospital! read more

Infected neuter site and possible scrotal hematoma for our kitten! It has been a nightmare, 104 temp, 3 infections, emergency & numerous visits along with tons of meds. We followed the instructions of the staff and the discharge notes of Minooka Animal Hospital where he was neutered. Now we already nearing $2000.00. I was told by 4 other vets; they have never seen anything like this before, this should not have happened. Cats in the wild get neutered and this doesn't happen! THANK GOODNESS for the Vets at Animal Care Center of Plainfield, he isn't out of the woods yet, but he is improving and hopefully will not need another surgery. ACC of Plainfield has taken care of him with love and compassion. I cannot speak enough at how disgusted I am with the conversation, I had with the Vet at Minooka Animal Hospital. AVOID THIS PLACE. THEY HOLD ASHES HOSTAGE. GO ANYWHERE ELSE!! Recently, my sister brought her dog in to be put down due to illness. Before doing this, my sister ordered several tests to be done in order to see if she could save her dog from said illness. Due to this, she has outstanding balances that she will be paying back over time. This is where the abhorrent and vile business practices come in. After my sister's dog was euthanized (the euthanasia and ashes service was fully paid off), this "hospital" decided to hold her dog's ashes hostage and behind a paywall. Once again, THE EUTHANASIA AND ASHES SERVICE WERE PAID FOR, IN FULL. In addition to this, just after her dog was euthanized, the "hospital" was immediately demanding the payment and bothering my sister and her family while they were trying to mourn their loss. 5 more minutes doesn't hurt anyone's pocket, does it? Finally, they did not tell my sister about their plans to hold the dog's ashes hostage until AFTER they had already charged my mom's card for the services. PLEASE, go anywhere else. I wish I could give more than 5 stars. I can't say enough good things about this place. The Dr's and staff here are truly incredible. They are both knowledgeable and compassionate beyond measure. I have been coming here for nearly 9 years and I can't imagine bringing my animals, who are like family to me, anywhere else. Dr. Therese Simon and Dr. Jayma Tourville are so kind and wise. They give you as many options as possible and let you know about each one. I have had to say goodbye to 5 of my beloved cats due to age and illness, and these wonderful vets have been with me each step of the way, from thorough treatment to compassionate goodbyes. I will be moving this year and it breaks my heart that I will have to find another vet for my animals. This practice is full of doctors and staff who truly love and care about animals and it shows. I tell everyone I know how amazing these people are. The hours are great and the prices are reasonable, but to be honest, those are the least of the reasons I go here. The biggest difference between Minooka Animal Hospital and the chain places is that they don't try to push things on you that you don't need. That's a big deal to me. I don't go there REAL frequently but they always seem to know me and my pets, which I find impressive. Highly recommended. read more

We have been going to Minooka animal hospital for nine years. They have always been wonderful explaining things...answering questions and most importantly...treating our furry family members as one of their own. Recently we had to take our beautiful 15 and a half year old dog in for her last visit. Livee had a tumor on her leg that really began to effect her in every way. When her leg swelled we realized we couldn't put it off anymore. As myself, son and wife were crying...Dr. Tourville was stroking Livee and speaking gently to her. Livee had seen Dr many times and it was obvious that Dr. Tourville cared. She gave Livee Twilight to help her relax and it REALLY helped myself...wife and son to see it done so gently. When it was done the Dr turned to us and said" I am sooooo sorry for your loss". And she meant it. Thank you Dr. Tourville. And thank you Dr. Simon for all the times you had helped Livee and Zogyn.
