I recently took my male cat to be neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. I was referred by Joliet Animal Control. My cat is about eight months old. He had been feral and had been gravely ill with panleukopenia when I took him in as a small kitten. I nursed him through it and wanted to be sure his immune system had recovered sufficiently before having him neutered. I am impressed with Mallard Point. I had used NAWS in Mokena in the past. At best, the staff at NAWS was indifferent and it's an assembly line process. You leave your cat sitting in the waiting room, anxious and afraid. At Mallard Point the experience was totally different. The receptionist and vet tech took time to explain the process and seemed to care about my cat. I was given an explanation of the process and my cat was weighed and examined in my presence, whereas NAWS treated my cats as a commodity and I wondered if they even bothered examining the cats before intubating them. Mallard point called me promptly post-surgery and let me know my cat was doing well which eased my mind. I am very appreciative of Mallard Point and its wonderful staff. In examining the castration wound, Mallard Point did a much better job than NAWS with the scrotal tissue stitched and reduced. They provided pain pills and encouraged me to call if there were problems. I work with feral cats and it is good to know that Mallard Point does TNR (Trap, Neuter and Return) for feral cats. NAWS no longer performs TNR. I'm relieved to know Mallard Point does and that the feral cats will likely be treated humanely. I will not hesitate to bring feral cats to Mallard Point. They appear to treat animals humanely and compassionately. read more

I guess ill start with dr mark performing luxating patella surgery on my 5lb pomeranian. 3 months later his leg is worse. Then dr mark tells me the surgery didnt take and he didnt have the right size surgical tools for my dog......WHAT??? His exact words....."my tools are for 50-60 lb dogs" So now he holds his leg up worse than before and it cost 1200$ and months of pain and torture. also last week took him back to see a different dr and he was having scooting issues. 440$ to tell me he's constipated and now the medicine isnt working and me and my dog are still absolutely miserable. read more

My father has never been a fan of this place because of a falling out with our family vet and this vet years ago. However, when I got my puppy I decided I would take him here despite my father'a urging not to. I walked in and was greeted by the desk staff who were very friendly. I only had to wait a few moments before I was taken in the room. The doctor was so sweet and gave my the diagnosis of tapeworm and sent me home with a stool sample kit and medication to rid my baby of the worms. I did the sample and got a call the same day. He had two other interstitial parasites and I picked up the medication that day. Now my little boy is happy as a clam and healthy as can be! Thank you! read more

If I could give no stars I would. I just want to say when they are good they are good. But I have been calling for a week checking to see if they can get me in earlier and they have no openings..... I need to get my dog in and they have not been able to "squeeze me in" this is a major concern. There is something wrong with my dog and they are not able to move or get her in at all. but tell me to take to sister company. Where the Petly does not work and I would need to pay the visit and everything else. I am not even able to use the petly as I CANT EVEN GET IN TO SEE THE VET. Let alone... if you have it you cant even use at another branches. This should be changed since they do only have one vet on staff and are not able to keep up with the clients that they have now. If you are thinking about going here.... please be aware of the reviews most are 100%. Like i said when they are good they are good but There are so many other vets that are more willing and able to work with you (even if they only have one vet on staff) and understanding of issues that need to be check and not just shove you off and say well.... we can't... we have no openings. Sorry. 2-3 weeks to get your pet into the vet is not acceptable at all! read more

I would give zero stars if that was an option. This place is TERRIBLE. My dog is prescribed Apoquel (an allergy pill) that she needs to take once a day to be comfortable. Mallard point charges at least 2x the amount for this pill than online pet supply stores such as Metmeds.com or Chewy.com. I asked the vet over 3 times to provide me with her paper prescription so I could order the pills online, and they've instead refilled the prescription in house each time. Then, I placed an order through Walmart Pet RX and Walmart called them for the prescription, but they denied my request. All this "vet" wants is money. They DO NOT care about your pet's health at all. read more

We had an appt with Dr. Terra today for the first time. She is GREAT!!! Explains everything very thorough. Takes her time and listens to you and answers your questions. Being a very nice lady is a plus also. Staff is all nice except 1 named Katie is not very friendly, unfortunately. But that has absolutely nothing to do with the great care we received. Not happy with this place at all!! Two years in a row our dog came home very sick after going to Mallard for a simple nail trim or routine shots. They provided free medicine for it once but this shouldn't be happening. This last time she got sick it was real hard on her she was constantly gagging. Today we brought our girl in for a flu shot, bath and nail trim. When she came out she was missing practically the entire top layer of skin from her nose. No one says a word to me about it, they simply handed her to me. I said "what happened to her nose? " "Most of her skin is off." I said "it was not like that when I dropped her off." The red headed girl at the front desk said I'll be right back. She said "I don't hv it in her records that she's a cage rubber." I asked what that was. She said "if a dog is on edge they may rub their nose on the cage." I said "she's NEVER done this, ever." She's well adjusted and taken care of. She handed me free medicine for her nose. I said "I'm mad, twice when bringing her in for routine stuff she's contracted the dog flu or some virus, now this??!!?" Her response was a flippant "sorry but we only have so much control when they're in the dog run." WOW. I'm speechless. Until now. I hope this is a warning for others considering bringing their pets here. Her nail trim was even shoddy...they were all choppy & jagged instead of nice clear cuts. She was not herself for a while when I got her home. The two vet doctors Dr. Mark Piechocinski and Dr. Fatima Kazmi are always nice, polite and helpful but the staff are almost always rushed and not always friendly. After three years with them this experience was finally enough to make us leave their practice and find a new one. I'm quite upset that we trusted our dog with them for just two hrs and picked her up with the top layer of her nose gone!! read more

I recently adopted a rabbit that was spayed here. When my adoption agency didn't provide any post-surgical care, I called the vet clinic itself. I called and asked about pain management and incision care. They told me that the vet "probably gave it a shot for pain", though they couldn't tell me what the drug was. They also told me to have the sutures removed in 10 days. Imagine my surprise when I check the incision and there are no external sutures to remove! Add in the fact that the rabbit was in gi stasis when we brought her home and required fluids and syringe feeding to pull through and I am far from impressed with this clinic. Where should I begin, Well brought my dog here as a puppy for his 1st Dr visit during Covid. I have called at least 6 times to schedule a normal exam or minor allergies and every time they try and refer me to Plainfield Animal Hospital; Which is worse yet... looting unexperienced unprofessional and the worst service I've ever had. Charged 700$ for unnecessary test. Then they wanted to admit our dog for Observation for $800 a day I think this is more than it would cost me to go to a doctor. He was fine the next day I did not Authorize three or four of the test never even got to speak with a doctor it was like talking to a 15-year-old un experience vet-tech Every time I call even if I ask for just his shots It's the same song and dance every time they always want to refer you to Plainfield or Shorewood animal hospital so they can tax your bill. Every single time it's like a 2 to 3 month wait for an appointment which I think is BS... they can't be that busy. Then if you want to get robbed don't use either of there sister/ bro company's... They run this establishment like a bait and switch... While the vets are nice, the front desk people are very rude and very disorganized. I saw Dr. on Wednesday for final shots for my puppy; Dr. made a copy of shot record from other vet. Went to drop puppy off for grooming on Friday and - whoops - the records never made it into my file so they told me my puppy needed additional shots before they could groom him. Also, was told by front desk I needed to bring in a fecal sample??? Was never told this by Tristan when I made the appointment. Brought my dog in to be boarded for a week. I got a call the same day, they were worried about my dog because she was straining to pee and had blood in her urine. They tried meds first but they didn't work and she ended up in surgery to remove stones. They called me with each step for my approval on what to do next and what procedures I was okay with. Thank God, I didn't take my dog to some other boarding facility that doesn't have vet care because she would have been miserable and it wouldn't have been dealt with in a timely manner. They just called to follow up on her, before her follow up appt. I couldn't be happier with the outcome and with their service. Looks like we have a new vet. My little pup was born in late 2017, she broke her front leg in November,a month before we got her. We had to take her to the vet as soon as we could. We came in around Christmas and the front ladies were very polite. Sophie healed her arm around February. But then she broke it yet again in May. We took her here again thinking it would be the same, but no. They were polite at first but as soon as we took her in here they said,"she's back? Wow that was quick." I ignored it at first but as soon as we took her in the second time they told us they needed to take her arm off! I was crying and bawling. They told us if they didn't take it off she would "die". My pup was scared they gave her medicine and you could hear her in the back crying and howling. We obviously didn't let them take it off. They told us if we did it would cost 1,200 dollars! They told us we needed to come the week after for it. We didn't go, we let Sophie's arm heal on it's own and now she's fine. She loves to run and be free. What im trying to say is they lied about my dog dying if they didn't remove her arm. They tried to take our money and take her little arm!! I would rate this 0 stars if I could. read more

I have gone 4 times now; each time, I was given the wrong information. I have to ask everything because they tend not to freely offer info like most clinics and shelters in which I not only was a client, but an employee of, offered. The first pet we took there, they didn't follow up after he was sent home with medicine for his infection. This last time, we took a pet to get spayed, they didn't give us a cone to keep her from licking. When asked why not, they said they didn't think it was necessary because they didn't see her licking her wound (she had just come out of surgery 2 hours prior; she could barely stand)! It was standard procedure to send customers home with one even if they didn't use it and ask them to return it if they don't use it when the pet was brought back for a follow-up. They told me they would call me after her surgery to let me know how she was doing but never got a call. They also didn't give my boyfriend a follow-up date for her stitches. I am looking for a vet where they seem more interested in the animals and not just in getting the work day over with. Don't get me wrong, they are nice when directly dealing with customers but they don't seem to care...dunno; just very disappointed. read more

I believe the actual veterinarians for this place bounce around a few locations and as such there's not always a veterinarian on site even if the clinic is open. That said, I've had nothing but great experiences with the staff here. Dr. Mark listens to all my inane ramblings about how my cat is doing even if there's actually nothing wrong. They took especially good care of my cat when he developed serious urinary tract issues. The front desk staff can be hit or miss; sometimes they're nice and friendly and other times they're sour. The veterinarians and the vet-techs are all very happy and friendly people though and their genuine love of animals is readily apparent in how they treat the animals themselves. Sometimes I think my cat prefers the staff to me, stinking ungrateful kitty! All in all, I'm very happy with them. The real downside to this clinic is the cost. They are MUCH more expensive than other veterinary clinics. However, they do all the veterinary work for the surrounding counties' animal control facilities so I'm happy to be their patron. read more

I brought my 10 month old kitty in for shots, chip, and spay. She was well taken care of and after surgery she was sent home with an adequate supply of pain meds to keep her comfortable with recovery. 2 days after coming home, i got a phone call from Mallard Point vet clinic inquiring as to my babys recovery. The lady sounded genuinely interested and i appreciated the followup. This shows me they care. I will definately return for future vet needs. I may bring my rabbit in for a neuter...... read more

This clinic is definitely under staffed. I have waited over a half hour just to drop off and pick up my dog for grooming. I usually wait about a half hour when I have scheduled vet appointments as well. The website says that they offer payment plans, however when my dog needed a $1,600 procedure done I was told they do not do payment plans and that all money was needed at the time of treatment. However, the staff are great! I am sure the workers at the front desk are stressed with having so many people wait at one time. Dr. Mark is great as well. This clinic needs better staffing in order to improve. read more

I adopted my puppy about a month and a half ago, and Mallard Point was one of 3 vets listed on the adoption agency's preferred/"cooperative" vet list to take your new dog to so all expenses are covered. Even though they were the farthest from me (about 50 minutes), I elected to come here rather than drive literally right around the corner to the new vet (based on reviews and the advice from the agency). If the staff is busy at the front desk, you could be waiting for 10 minutes or so, but once you're in a room, the doctor is in within minutes. She had Dr. Piechocinski. Obviously a pet lover, and super friendly to boot! Puppy's first visit was the initial exam and follow-up skin scrape (poor thing had mange when she came to IL). A couple of days later she was back for her vaccinations and spay surgery. I noticed something not normal about 5 days after her surgery (don't want to be graphic or gross here), so I called and they wanted me to bring her in, so I did. She must have had a small infection from the surgery, and Dr. Piechocinski gave me some antibiotics for her..... at no charge! She's now a happy, healthy, and energetic puppy. I took my dog to get neutered last week he was only 6 years got a called and he died during his surgery. I got there they said he kept waking up during surgery and they said they kept giving him more anesthesia and then his heart stopped ... after giving me my dog dead i still had to pay for the fucking anesthesia i did not argue about that because i was crying and i was emotional and all i wanted to do was take my dog home. Then they had the nerve to call me friday to tell me one of his test came out negative, like if matter anymore.....they did not bothered to help me take his dead body to my car or anything... i didnt receive a single call from them to apologize for his death.... Ever since my dog died i have been having anxiety attacks and depression!PLEASE DONT TAKE YOUR PETS THERE HORRIBLE PLACE I REPEAT HORRIBLE PLACE!!! They do not even deserve a single star only if i could give them 0 stars i would but i felt like i had to share my story to warn other pet lovers about their horrible service !!! This place is AWFUL!!!!!!!!!!! I have had nothing but problems since day one from this place. I tried to give them the benefit of the doubt when they made a few minor mistakes. But when my dogs health is on the line, that's not okay. They gave BOTH my dogs rabies shots they had already had and didn't need! And made me pay for it!! They don't keep accurate documentation on what vaccines your dogs need. Then one of my dogs had mites! He was losing his hair and bleeding he looked awful! We took him there and they told us he had allergies. So charged us for allergy medicine. Well those meds weren't working. So we took him back, they told us the same thing again. He has allergies we will give him stronger meds. I asked them if they could do a skin graph on him to see if it was mites. The doctor said that it is a long expensive procedure and that he didn't have it. Well we took my dog to a different vet... FIRST THING THE NEW VET DID WAS A SKIN GRAPH!! He indeed had mites. Mind you it was not a long expensive procedure at all... why Mallard point didn't do the skin graph is beyond me. Other times before this all happened I would try to set up appointments, and they were always booked and they PUSHED me to take my dogs in on Sunday where they do walk ins. Failed to mention they charge 50 bucks A DOG for a walk in. So they charged me 100 bucks for my dogs just to walk in.. again failed to mention the walk in fee.. funny!! They were really pushing for Sunday's, and said that's all they have open... shady. I also adopted one of my dogs from there. The poor girl was drugged up when I got her, and I mean DRUGGED UP AND OUTTA IT!! Had a uti and mangled dirty fur. They didn't mention the uti when adopting her. And they didn't bathe her before I took her home. They are very unprofessional there, very unorganized. I don't recommend this place at all. Your dog will never come back healthy going here. I promise you. Research and find a different vet. Because this place should be closed down honestly. It's horrible. I'd give negative stars but that's not an option ;) read more

We recently adopted a dog from Joliet Township Animal Control and had to utilize Mallard Point Veterinary Clinic for his neuter. We experienced nothing but problems and false promises. First, the cost of the neuter was much more than what was stated by animal control. Ok, fine. But second, the vet overall cost much more than our regular vet we go to and Mallard Point nickels and dimes you for everything, more so than other vets. Lastly, when we returned to have his sutures removed, we asked the vet to look at what appeared to be an infection in the area where they inserted his IV for the surgery. We were told he had the mark when he came in and it was nothing to worry about. I think we are intelligent enough to know if our dog developed a sore on his leg after we initially got him. It clearly was infected so we took him to our normal vet, who a surprise surprise told us it was infected. We would give zero stars to Mallard Point if we could. Not only do they charge you an arm and a leg; they are incompetent too! read more

When they do finally acknowledge you their attitude will let you know that you are inconveniencing them. The vets are proficient and amiable once you get passed the front desk. If I could give more than 5 stars I would! I have been taking my Husky here for about 4 years now. The staff are all so amazing! They are incredibly friendly and truly show they care about my pet. They definitely put the pet's needs and health first. The first time we discovered my dog had allergies to vaccinations we had already arrived home before her face started to swell up. I called the vet immediately and they had us come back and they treated her without any additional charge. They encouraged us to stay to make sure that she was going to be okay and the swelling went down. They have also been wonderful about letting me ask a million questions over the phone when my beloved Husky started to have seizures. I am so grateful for their patience! I have tried taking my dog to a closer veterinary clinic before, but I just could not trust them the same way I could trust the vets at Mallard Point. They have never been pushy with treatments or adding costs and they never make me feel as though they are rushed through our appointment. I have always felt as though my concerns were respected and several treatment options were presented so I could make an informed decision. They are definitely worth the additional drive. I just adopted a German Shepherd as well and I wouldn't take my dogs anywhere else for their health care! read more

Don't get me started with this place! We adopted a kitten from Joliet Animal Control - they sent the 9 week old kitten to this place for his neutering and vaccines. They called to tell us the surgery was done and we can pick up the kitten. When we went to pick him up, the information given to us was horrible about what needs to be done next, also they sent him home with antibiotic because he was "starting" with a upper respiratory infection. We had this poor little guy for 5 days and he got nothing but worst. We called and they told us they couldn't see him right away, so thank God we have a friend that works at another facility. We took him there to find out this kitten was invested with fleas, AND that he had this respiratory infection before his surgery, Joliet Animal Control confirmed this, and that Mallard should have never done the neutering until the fleas and infection where put under control. They continued to perform the surgery and inject him with vaccines. Now we have been force feeding him, have been keeping him in a small room with a vaporizer and have "un-flea-d" our home! This little guy is fighting for his life because of a careless "qualified" veterinarian who shouldn't be practicing in my opinion. Personally, they should be flipping the $300 it has cost me from another facility - whom by the way spent almost 2 hours with our little guy and showed that they really cared about this animal.
