Wow! What can I say aside from the fact that this is the BEST restaurant in the burbs. And I don't mean that lightly. It rivals some of the better restaurants in the city. The dry-aged bistecca is one of the FINEST steaks my wife and I have EVER had. The texture is exquisite and the flavor has by far the most amount of layers I have ever enjoyed in a steak. It ain't cheap, but it's worth every penny and then some, especially for those special occasions. The cocktail and wine lists are fairly well curated, and the apps and deserts are epic as well. One of those rare places where EVERY course is delicious. Did I mention this place is in the SUBURBS?!?! An excellent Italian spot with a relaxing outdoor seating area and delicious food. Started off with fritto misto (fried calamari and shrimp), and a margherita pizza. Both were excellent, pizza was nice and thin, crispy, and fresh sauce, and the fritto misto had a nice light crisp breading and some excellent spicy peppers mixed in to add to the flavor. For the entrees, I got the Tagliatelle alla Bolognese and I also tried the porterhouse steak which we split amongst the table. Tagliatelle had a great texture, very well made and sauce was flavorful and the meat was very tender and delicious. The porterhouse was cooked perfectly, seasoned well and highly recommend. We split a bunch of dessert that the servers brought out since it was a birthday dinner. It comprised of tiramisu, raspberry sorbet, banana gelato, and a flourless chocolate cake. The banana gelato was my favorite and the tiramisu was excellent as well. Would definitely come back here to try more. read more

Really nothing to write home. I was craving pizza (thin crush kind too), but it didn't really hit the spot. Hubby had the cacio e pepe, it was ok. A bit too heavy handed so it's rather creamier than we were expecting the dish to be. They do have a really nice looking patio/outdoor area, so I think it would have been a fun hangout spot in a warmer weather. read more

Excellent every time we go. Homemade pasta specials are interesting , I had the lemon pasta which was delicious. The rigatoni and bolognese are always amazing. I am a big fan of the branzino as well. This place has stepped up their game to be a great dining option in the north shore. Italian food is always comforting and they have a great operation for dining in as well as pick up. They have good gluten free options as well as that matters to our family. The menu is simple and solid all the way around. Im a spaghetti and meatballs fan (Im like a 10 year old boy) and theirs is pretty good..maybe a 3.5 out of 5 but all their other pastas are great. Papperdelle is my favorite on their menu. Have eaten here in the past but not recently. Enjoyed the ambience and food. Decided to get take-out. Called at 6:14 PM and was told the order would not be ready until 7:00 PM. Ordered Tagliatelle Alla Bold, BYO spaghetti marinara and meatballs. With tax 66.49. Both dishes were blobs of rather tasteless pasta glued together. They came out of the containers in one big lump. Appeared and tasted as if they had been sitting in a warmer for quite a while. Meat balls were luke warm but tasty. Surprised at the lack of quality in both dishes. Bolognese sauce slightly better that the marinara. Perhaps other dishes are better presented in restaurant. read more

Just wanted a pizza and she wouldn't take the order cause it was 8:04pm and their policy is 8pm cut off for take out orders. Tried calling multiple times before 8pm and no one answered . Stopped by to get italian earlier this week and was very impressed with the food! I did feel it was a bit expensive (prices are comparable for italian restaurants in downtown Chicago) but if you're in the Northshore, would check this place out for a nice, ambient dinner experience. Boscaiola Pizza: This pizza has a Cremini and Shiitake mushrooms and the combination with the asiago was to die for! This pizza was savory and had the most amazing bread texture that was bouncy and chewy- full disclosure I even ate the pizza crusts on this pizza : 9.5/10 : $17.75 (+tax) Burrata: This burrata and strawberry vinaigrette was amazing and paired sooo well. Stacked the bread with arugula, cheese, and strawberry vinaigrette- it was everything. Tasty Italian spot with the nicest owners!! I've been here a couple of times and have always been impressed with the food. It's delicious, tastes fresh and you really can't go wrong with any dish. The drinks are unique and the wine choices are never-ending. I recommend the Manhattan on draft as well as the calamari, tagliatelle, any pizza and the chocolate mousse. I knocked off a star because the last time I went in the service was less stellar than I expected. The previous times they have been great. They were quite busy, so I understand to a point, but dinner took 2.5 hours and was incredibly poorly timed, I sat there without a drink and without food for extended periods. It was a lovely evening to dine Al fresco and I don't believe any one was dining inside. I loved the appetizers. 1. Calamari was crunchy and not chewy and the breading tasted like shrimp chips which I love! 2. The Caprese like salad was great with pine nuts and cranberries and tiny roasted tomatoes. 3. I simply love the meatballs made of veal and pork and they were exquisite. I had the Branzino and it was perfectly grilled and served with couscous, so delicious! My son had the shrimp risotto and I loved the bigger shrimp. I forgot what pasta my husband had but he finished his plate! My grandson had a fabulous wood fired pizza and I had a whole piece of his too! The service was wonderful and the drinks were perfect, light and fruity. The only reason for the 4 star rating is poor selection of desserts. Thank goodness for Graeter's ice cream which is down the block. For a Friday night it was easy to find parking on the street. I'm loving all the new restaurants popping up in my hood! I did the early bird special here on Fri night (aka avoiding kids bedtime). It was semi empty at 5pm, although the restaurant was full when I left after 7pm. They are clearly busy as I've learned when trying to secure last minute reservations on the weekend in the few months they've been open. My dining companion is a gal after my own heart and ordered a variety of things from the menu (+ prosecco) so we cold have a little taste of everything. Overall, I thought the food was very tasty, but the pizza and chicken will be on the top of my list when I return. The staff here could not be more lovely- everyone was super friendly from the bartender, our waiter (shout out to Marco) and the owner (Gabi). I wish them the best and will be back for many date nights and future girls night outs. read more

First official snow for Chicago and the usual freezing temperature did not stop me, along with a lot of other customers to try what this new place in Winnetka offers. I highly suggest making reservations because when we got to the place at 6:30pm on a Friday, both the dining and bar areas were super busy. We were greeted nicely and seated immediately. They also have coat check which is very helpful. Diners were mostly in groups and there were also kids that evening. The place had a lively, loud, happy and vibrant atmosphere. Our server was attentive and all the other staff as well. The owner (I believe) and the restaurant manager checked on the customers on each table to make sure that every one was happy and being helped. Let's talk about food, here are the items that I've tried on their menu: CARPACCIO- light and satisfying appetizer BURRATA - the skinned roasted tomatoes were to die for, so was the basil pesto dressing LINGUINE ALLE VONGOLE - I love garlic so I like how the sauce's flavors of garlic and olive oil really stood out which went great with the seafood. TAGLIATELLE ALLA BOLOGNESE- Prosciutto, panceta & beef in flavorful sauce and perfectly cooked pasta..Delicious. The Rose' that our server suggested was perfect and he was so proud to tell us about who made it and how famous the brand is in Italy. The best part is, it's only $10/glass! The house Pinot Noir was outstanding as well so thumbs up on the drinks for me. There was nothing that I did not like from what I have tried although the service was still a bit rough around the edges. I know that the place is still new so I'm sure and hope that they will work on better service from their staff but hats off for being welcoming, attentive and helpful. Food was fine, and service lacks coordination? Not sure how a nice place can miss by so much. Orders are taken, and food dropped on tables in minutes. Really felt rushed for no reason? Managers stand in corners and direct traffic, not really communicating with guests. Front door, cute but no interaction either. We must have been an anomaly, they where busy. They aren't new, plenty of staff, yet misguided with no direction... I wish them the best without our return... Just moved into town. It's our first family dinner out. Staff are fantastic, they are busy but still find the time to visit you regularly. Server was on it. Food arrived hot and quickly. I had Bronzino, it was beautiful, light, cooked to perfection, fresh spinach! Kids had Rigatoni with butter and cheese, ate the lot. Wife had the pepper and cheese pasta, and finished her plate. In laws had scallops which were fantastic. Martinis were cold and had ice chips (that's how I love a Tini) Their prices I think are very reasonable. This is a place that I don't even have to think twice about coming here. Sit back relax and listen to the specials, always some great options. Go for it! read more

Yay! Love Italian! Love homemade pasta! The kind of pasta that tastes like butter. Its rolled fine, and absorbs the flavor of the sauce its served with. Piled high on the plate to stay toasty warm, you put your fork in, twirl up the pasta, and the your first bite is steamy hot goodness that can't be described. Haven't had homemade pasta like this since I was in Mexico-of all places. There was a little Italian chateau-y looking place near a resort where we stayed 10 years ago, where an Italian couple made their own pasta. The pasta at Minos--its that good. We called in advance on a Friday and made reservations for a table for four around 8:30 pm. The second wave of diners had arrived and this place was hopping. On the right is a full bar--you can eat dinner at the bar if seats open up. On the left is a dining room that goes for miles and curves around to a small back area near the kitchen that's a lot quieter. We were lucky and got seated there. Our main server, Francis, was exceptional; courteous, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu. The waitstaff and bussers were all professional, and all seem to enjoy working here, and working together. They kept our waters topped off, cleared the table regularly, and gave good suggestions on our drinks. The favorites at our table were the GWR and the coffee. We had four plates and two desserts. Two of us ordered the special - Taglietelle with mushrooms and truffle butter sauce. This was rich but very flavorful. One of us ordered the scallops. This was cooked niced, and scrumptious. I ordered the bolognese with taglietelle, also good. We had two desserts which were fair, but not near as good as the pasta and scallops. We split the panna cotta (we couldn't taste the rosemary) and was a bit on the salty side although one of us thought it was fine; and the banana steamed pudding with Italian meringue. Tasty meringue, but the banana pudding was not completely set. I'm giving them five stars because everything else--food, hostess, drinks, and pasta, was superb, and would definitely recommend this place to family and friends. Cheers! read more

So first off, I can't recommend any specific dishes here. The reason for that is that they change their menu seasonally, and every new menu brings something delicious. Right now it's a very tender rabbit, with pasta served in a carrot-based sauce with fresh dill. Brightly colored and very fresh, it just screams springtime. Before that it was the frito misto, which was tart and crispy and so light it almost dissolved in your mouth. Full disclosure, I know some of the behind-the-scenes people here, and everything about this restaurant is professional. The manger, Gabby, is one of the best you'll ever meet. But she and the owners have all developed such a rapport with the community that hardly an hour can go by without them running out to have a quick conversation with one of the guests (many of whom they know personally). If you're a regular, your server WILL know you by name at some point. It's just how they run things there, and I can't recommend it enough. read more

Oh Mino's, I never thought you would be my first 1 star restaurant review. After enjoying your restaurant since you opened your doors, I can honestly say I will never go back. From the host who did not look up and mumbled an inaudible greeting to the odd, clumsy service, and the rancid tuna, this was not an experience we will pay to repeat. Quite possibly the worst fish I've tasted. Server was annoyed that we sent it back and made zero apologies. I asked for the chicken instead which came out 30 min later and was not worth the wait and was predominantly flavored by salt. Salads arrived before appetizers (which came 25 minutes after salad with no explanation). We paid our bill (only tuna was comped) and asked to speak with the manager who apparently was also the host who had communication challenges. We explained the situation and he said "I apologize and hope you will try us again, thank you", almost like a robot-and walked away. read more

Flatbread pizza was terrific. Crust was thin and crispy. We ordered a couple of pasta dishes. The pasta was Al dente and home made. The appetizers were all very tasty...octopus, crispy artichoke, fennel salad, burrata ... all very good. We had a bottle white and red. Wine selection is also good. So many restaurants are having problems w good service But- Mino's did not have that problem. Service was excellent! There was a large outdoor eating area but we chose to sit indoors. Mino's was okay. Was it great? Nah. Was it bad? Nah. It was okay. Food was solid, service was shaky at best. There was an amateurishness to the level of service that was rather surprising given how lovely the place looked. Hostesses were underwhelming, everything took a long time to be delivered, server was not very informative. Comical interaction at the table next to us as the "special" (which our server neglected to mention) was poorly cooked and the server (not ours) engaged in a bit of back and forth with the customer who was obviously not pleased. Bar seemed to be lively. Would I go back? Maybe, just to sit outside, but overall it was just...okay. read more

Mino's was absolutely a gem in this area. They have very delicious food with locally sourced ingredients. House made noodles were delicious. Prices are reasonable for the quality of the food, as it is excellent. Right away the staff are able to assist whenever you are in need of something, wether it's a clean set of silverware, a new plate, or anything else. They are able to adapt to most peoples food choices, including a special drink, or a food choice for younger kids. All of the staff are incredibly kind. They were very friendly and helpful. My new favorite Italian restaurant in the suburbs of Chicago, and this one will be tough to beat. Cocktails were delicious and didn't taste cheap, but lets talk about the food. The appetizers were phenomenal and the artichokes with lemon aioli were the highlight. The salsiccia pizza thats off menu was too good to pass up. The main event was the Bisteca Alla Fiorentina and the crust on it was perfect. this is a top 3 steak in my book, and I don't know what they did to it, but it the meat was so flavorful, highlight of the night. The Rigatoni Salsiccia Vodka pasta was great, and they brought the mushroom mafaldine pasta out which I was good but nothing that knocked my socks off. As for the dessert, the gelato with honey, olive oil and sea salt was to die for. Raspberry sorbet was refreshing, and the flourless cake was alright. Oh yeah! First let's talk about the pandemic. Yes, we are all going stir crazy and some of us are actually going a little nuts, personally, I was half way there before this became a thing. The restaurants are hurting badly. Then along comes Mino's creatively doing their best. Boy, did they hit the mark! They have, what looks like 3 areas: a tent, a fire pit, and a large patio that is loaded with heat lamps- regardless of where you are sitting on the patio you will be blasted with the warmth. They've nailed this. Now let's talk about service. The hostess was kind and gracious both upon checking in as well as the numerous rounds they made throughout the evening to make sure we were doing alright. Same for the bussers, wait staff, and house manager- checking throughout the evening to make sure all was good. So attentive and kept the water glasses and soft drinks filled. Onto the food, my husband started with a fall salad which had greens, apples, and nuts- a truly lovely blend, and the dressing was out of this world! He is a pizza junky and said that he has had better pizza. I disagree, I thought the pizza was outstanding. He did say it was larger, almost too large, for a single serve. That's why I tag along...to eat what may be too much for him . My tortellini was soft, puffy, and oh, so good. Just the right amount of brown butter! I should say, I'm not a huge fan of Italian food, so, if I'm saying it was great, you better believe it! Make reservations, Mino's is very popular! read more

I've been here 3 times in the last month and can't wait to come back. We ordered lamb chops, chicken, sea bass, sirloin, shrimp linguini, all pizzas, Brussels sprouts, artichoke, meatballs, calamari, octopus, broccoli, carrots, cauliflower, and Cesar salad. Every single item we ordered was delicious. The entire staff was in masks and gloves the entire time. The service was spot on and our comfort level was great. Got carry out for my daughter's birthday the other night. They have it set up so you pull up to the restaurant and they bring it right to your car. The best things we got were the Burrata with prosciutto and the artichokes delicious . The brussels sprouts were good not great and same thing with the octopus. Maybe I just got the wrong items but just ordered takeout from here for the first time and was so underwhelmed. Ordered two classics I don't think a decent place would get wrong: the Cacio e Pepe and a Margherita pizza. The cacio pepe was mostly buttered noodles with none of the parmy-eggy taste you come to love in the dish. It was buttered noodles that were so stuck together that the pepper that was thrown on the top stuck in a mass, refusing to incorporate into the rest of the noodles Additionally the portion size was so small for the price- which I'd be ok with if the flavor made up for it but it did not. Just a bland overpriced noodle dish. The pizza was also OK, nothing to write home about. Crust was a little doughy, tomato sauce was not flavorful, and for the price I was hoping the cheese would at least knock the pizza out of the park. But it did not. The service was nice and the curbside pick up was efficient. Staff probably the only highlight. read more
