Been looking for a vehicle for my son and saw something on their site that I thought might work. The moment the call started the employee was outright curt when I asked about bartering over the phone. Although I understand that they usually don't do this over the phone, I don't live anywhere close and can't afford to drive all the way there to just get told "no". During the call, I did my best to explain that the pricing around where I live is not anywhere near the price they were asking. The vehicle in question is over TEN YEARS old; low miles or not, it is much more prone to breakdown because of its age. Toward the end of the call, I said something along the lines of: "I know that this is a lot lower than what you are asking* and if it's too low you can tell me no--I completely understand." *The offer I made was about half the listed price; we don't have a lot of money in our family and his old van died unexpectedly. The employee on the phone proceeded to say "Is this a joke?!" After which they proceeded to hang up on me before I even got another word out. They didn't even make a counteroffer or try to turn me to a different listing that would be closer in price--nothing. This is by FAR the worst and most unreasonably rude dealership phone call I have ever had. Not once did I say anything aggressive or act in any way that would've prompted this reaction (I even asked my other kid, who was in the other room, if I sounded too abrasive and they said "no"). Despite this, I hope the employee(s) have a good holiday and a happy New Year. Would not recommend going here to anyone. I'd rather send them to a scrapyard. Just hanging up on someone when you are business is extremely poor etiquette. I've worked in customer service before and it sucks but, especially when it is a new caller, you don't do that. It isn't hard to just say "Sorry but no thank you, have a nice day." and be an adult about things. She called you because she likes supporting small businesses instead of big dealerships--which she never said anything about--she called other small dealerships. = None of this is meant with malice, figured I should state that since it is difficult to tell on the internet, it is meant in a more "disappointed parent" type of tone. I can't respond on G. Reviews so I figured I would here. As I am writing these edits, I was reading the other reviews; it seems that this owner has an issue with this--being rude to people who ask questions. I posted my car on Facebook Market place because I needed to sell it quickly due to move out of the state, across the nation faster than expected. Knowing that I would only get a couple hundred from a junkyard, and wasn't willing to haggle with people over the price I wanted I listed for dirt cheap on the Market. Michael contacted me, was extremely direct and won me over to sell my car to him over another person by his personable and no BS personality. I got more than what I was (unhappily) expecting! When he came to look at the car he even worked out a deal with me to replace my title, and then worked out a time that I could drop off the vehicle when it was convenient for me as he knew I was packing to move out of the state. Overall my ENTIRE experience with Michael has been world famous and I'm disappointed that I, myself cannot buy one of his cars (my significant other is driving us, and no way am I doing 30+ hours of driving by myself). If you are looking for a used car I would highly recommend Michael! No sleezy car dealership BS, so even if you're just starting your search reach out to him. read more

Michael, the owner, could not answer even basic questions about the vehicle we came to see. Got upset when we mentioned the missing spare tire and other repairs that were needed and told us "You're done - just leave." We were nothing but polite. The car was priced nearly double Blue Book as well. Definitely do not go here - this is a sketchy ramshackle operation run but a complete jerk. read more

The process of purchasing a vehicle through Mint Julep was simple, but that's about it. Everything else from that point forward has been an absolute nightmare. Less than a month after purchasing a 2011 Subaru Outback from Mint Julep, I was left without a car due to vehicle overheating issues, rendering the vehicle undrivable. Michael assured me over and over again before purchasing that the car was "ready to go" and that all major repairs -- like the head gasket, which commonly goes out in Subaru's -- had been taken care of and wouldn't be an issue for the life of the vehicle. After doing my research, and calling around, it sounds like the head gasket was never fixed in the first place. I am now faced with $1000s in repairs, and a bank loan for a vehicle that isn't even drivable. Michael stands on his "impeccable" reputation and "4.9 star reviews", but refuses to help when he sells someone a lemon. Apparently his reputation doesn't mean that much to him to help his customers out. On top of that, apparently I "voided" my warranty after taking my vehicle to a mechanic on Mikes advice. To say that I am extremely disappointed with how everything has been handled is an understatement. My family has lived in Jefferson WI for years, and we will certainly NOT be recommending Mint Julep Motors to anyone who asks. DO NOT waste your time buying a vehicle from a dealer who is absolutely dishonest and refuses to help a customer that he straight up lied to. We just bought my father his first mobility minivan and we couldn't be happier. Michael and his staff were very friendly, helpful and took the time to explain everything. No pressure. Being the first time buying a handicap vehicle was a little bit overwhelming but Michael made us feel comfortable and was very honest. They took their time ensuring that my vehicle was in good shape prior to completing the purchase. Michael also was very careful to go over the details of the warranty, of which hopefully we will not need to exercise as I can see how easy it would be to unintentionally void the warranty.
