Cody was so great at answering my questions, and I feel like he really took care to get me the results I was after without upselling me on things I didn't need. The studio is open by appointment only, but he fit me in anyway and was so friendly and professional. We just finished meeting with Tyler at MINT! We came in to have him fix a botched job my little girl got from Claire's several months ago. Piercing parlors have come a long way since my piercing days, that is for sure. This place had zero shady vibe to it. Back when I was into getting piercings and tattoos, there was an aroma of seediness to 95% of piercing/tattoo shops one could walk into. MINT had none of this. In fact, it had a very upscale and sterile feel to it. Brightly lit without being harsh. High quality jewelry displayed in clean cases against black boxes and natural stone. I've been wanting to go to Mint since they've opened and this is the first time I've visited. Funny story. When they first opened I saw their page on Facebook or Instagram, I can't remember which. I started looking at the jewelry and fell in love with a pair of rose gold plugs that were hollowed and had flowers in the middle. I wanted them! But my ears weren't stretched. So, I made the decision to start stretching my ears. I thought they were just a jewelry store and so I went to a local shop and started the process. Since then I've gone up three sizes. Recently I found out they also do piercings and not just the jewelry. So I took the time and made it a priority today to go there. And boy am I glad I did!!! From the minute I walked in the door the two ladies working were awesome. They were friendly, helpful and genuine. This genre of business can be intimidating to inexperienced people when you first walk in sometimes and it wasn't at all. I was going to just go up the next sizes with my gauges but while waiting I fell in love with a pair of earrings so decided to do a piercing above my lobes. When it came time to doing the deed, my lives were kind of tight, and we knew with the new piercings there would be some increased swelling. So rather then pushing it and causing tissue damage, she decided to hold off on the stretch, just do the new piercing, and when I come in in 4-8 weeks for post adjustments we can do the new stretch then. I appreciated the fact that she was looking out for my best interest and not just getting the job done. I definitely will be back and this is my new go to piercing place!!! read more

I went to the West Des Moines Location, and let me tell you it was SO nice. I got a double helix, my first non lobe piercings, and it was so simple and easy, they gave me such nice help and instructions. Janessa pierced my ear, and she was AMAZING! So nice and calm throughout the entire process. I loved it! The pricing was correct for the service and quality they provided, though it is on the more expensive side! This is the only place I would ever go again! 2 weeks ago I walked in to the west glen location on a Tuesday night and got fit in a short time for a consultation with Tyler. He was professional, friendly, and knew what he was talking about. The first opening he had was the next day so I didn't mind coming back since I knew he had the experience I wanted and he gave me great advice to get both of the piercings I wanted at the same time to reduce the long term healing time. My piercings are beautiful and perfectly placed, they are healing perfectly with the instructions he gave me, and I'm so glad I took his advice. I've known Leo, the owner, for over a year and have worked with him at 5 Point Studios in Clive. I live in Ankeny now and was looking to get my tongue pierced so I figured I'd check out his new shop that I'd heard about the day before when I got a piercing at 5 Point. I was absolutely amazed as soon as I walked in. The girl working at the front, Bree, was a friend of mine that I'd known a couple years ago and is absolutely a total sweetheart. The jewelry case in the front is full of gorgeous and unique pieces from reputable suppliers using only the highest quality metals and stones. Leo promptly greeted me with a hug and asked what I was in for. I talked to him about what I wanted, picked out my jewelry and he want back to prep and sanitize everything. The friend I came with and I hung out and chatted with Bree while Leo got everything ready and then he finally called us back. My friend got to sit with me and watch the whole thing and Leo was friendly and funny and completely professional the whole time. The piercing room was so clean I swear you could've eaten straight off of the floor. The decorating is streamlined and modern with little terrariums all along the entry wall. While I laid down to have the piercing done I noticed a picture of two dogs on the ceiling and came to find out they were Leo's! It was so cute and took my mind off of the needle about to be shoved through my tongue. I was so amazed and impressed at the level of thought and complete love put into his shop and I can't wait to go get and continue getting more jewelry and piercings. Once my tonge was pierced and he thoroughly explained the aftercare process we went out to pay and I got sucked in by a gorgeous piece and ended up buying a new nose stud as well, which Leo was more than happy to help my swap out for my existing nose ring. I cannot even begin to express how impressed and in awe of the shop he's built. 5 Point was always my go-to because I knew I could trust Janessa and Leo to take care of me there. Now that I know of his shop (which is not even 5 minutes from my apartment, which is dangerous in itself because the impulse buying urges are so real, but I digress) I can't imagine going anywhere else. It was sparkling clean, quiet, and so tasteful, not even to mention Leo himself who is so kind and easy going that he just puts you completely at ease. He takes his time and makes sure that every piercing is done perfectly and quickly and always goes over proper aftercare to make sure you know exactly how to care for your new piercing at home. I've never done any kind of online review before, but I couldn't resist telling everyone I can about my experience. If you considering getting a piercing, PLEASE do not hesitate to go to MINT.
