This is my dad's all time favorite restaurant in the Vail area so he brought me here for dinner. The only reservation we could get was 9pm, which was fine, even though we would have preferred an earlier one. I'm not really a big fan of cooking my own food at restaurants, especially meat, but my dad is a grill master so he took over most of it haha. It is a pretty fun experience getting to pick your type of protein and then seasoning it and grilling it just how you want. They have numerous seasonings like garlic powder, seasoning salt, salt, pepper, lemon pepper, etc. as well as some kind of sauce (not sure what it was - it was brown). You can also add truffle butter to it which I did. They also have a salad bar with loaves of bread which you can butter and cook on the grill also. I had the cheaper ribeye and thought it was a great piece of meat, and great quality. It tasted just how I liked it. I will say, I got the truffle fries as I side which I regret as they do wedge/steak fries as truffle fries and I hate those kind of fries. It's weird cause the regular order of fries comes as regular skinny French fries. We also got a side of broccoli which was yummy. They have 2 grills, one in the front and one in the back, as well as 2 sets of men/woman's bathrooms. The one downside to this place is that there doesn't seem to be any heating, so especially if you're seating in the front of the restaurant it can get pretty chilly. If you like steaks and are looking for a fun experience with friends or family come here. If you do NOT want to grill your own meat, do not come here or come with someone who will grill for you lol. As someone who loves to grill it's a very fun experience to go up to the "meat counter" and hand select what you'd like to grill. I was here in 2011 and now again in 2026. What a fun night! We took a Lyft for easy drop off and pick off. The inside is very old school and overall could use a spruce up but plenty of space and overall fairly clean. The staff were friendly and helpful. They explained the process and helped along the way. It's fun to grill your own steaks and chat around the grill. The salad bar is pretty basic but fresh. We arrived and were the only people there. The salad in the salad bar was wilted and old. The "Texas toast" bread was in a bag and looked old. Our stuffed mushrooms were not. They were disgusting. Pieces of mushrooms in a dish covered with a cheese like substance and a quarter cup of parsley on top. There were about 4 steaks in the case and the chicken and shrimp looked old. He made passive aggressive comments throughout the night, refused to give us what we asked for and tried to upsell no matter what. Steaks were okay but not worth the price nor experience. Delicious meat - with the added experience of grilling indoors. It turned out quite good, and kept us captivated while we waited, so we weren't wondering where our food was. We really liked the stuffed mushroom appetizer and the crab cakes. They have one dessert - it is cookies & cream ice cream with whip cream & hot fudge in the middle. 3.5 stars. The Minturn Country Club is a novelty. Cook your own steak?... why not? It was fun. Every spice you can imagine with a good teriyaki glaze to add to the steak. We were given a suggestion of how long to cook the steak which I'm glad we shortened or it would have been well done. Salad bar?...Yes... iceberg lettuce but a variety of toppings. White bread from a sandwich loaf. Onion rings greasy, twice stuffed potato ok. But the steaks. The rib eye was tasty and tender but the NY was more gristle than meat. The magician wasn't there that night, unfortunately. A bit of entertainment is what we needed. I probably won't go back again..... once was enough. read more

This place is pretty cool. You order your meat/fish and then grill it yourself. We got the mushroom appetizer which was pretty good and then got a prime steak and lemon chicken. Both were excellent. It's a little strange grilling your own food inside the restaurant, but it ended up being a lot of fun. Seems like this would be a really fun place for young families with kids as well. We sat at the bar and our bartender was also a magician. He was amazing. He had some really cool tricks that really enhanced the experience. Highly recommend sitting at the bar. Thank goodness we found this place, what a treat. It is close to Beavercreek but worlds away from the overpriced food at a ski resort. Very fun family tradition. My 12 year olds had a blast learning how to grill their first steak with their Dad. Everyone seems to order the signature twice baked potato but it only tasted of sour cream. I would try the truffle fries instead next time. We were the first to arrive for dinner. Our waitress seemed either new or uninterested. The salad bar lacked options and had the traditional toppings, which were Ok. I've never been to a restaurant where you cook your own steak. We had a blast at the Minturn Country Club. The service was outstanding. Our waitress Alex was so attentive and explained the process to us thoroughly. We ordered wine and some stuffed mushrooms to start. Then we headed to the salad bar. When we finished our appetizers and salads we all went together to the butcher station and picked out our meat selection and ordered our sides. We were told how long we should cook our meat. I chose a filet and baked potato. It was so fun. We sipped wine as we sat around the grill and chit chatted. One of our friends in the group is turning 60 this month so we celebrated his birthday with a Minturn Tator. At the end of the night, the magician came to our table and wowed us with card tricks. Honestly, we stumbled upon this restaurant and it's one of our favorite dining experiences from our Vail vacation. I highly recommend the Minturn Country Club. read more

All I can say is WOW WOW WOW!!!!! I think I had one of the best dining experiences ever. Let me take a few steps back and say I love a good steak house but this was next level. The must have Appetizers are the stuffed mushrooms and crab cakes! The mushrooms were stuffed with cheese and had an amazing breadcrumb too. The double baked potato was amazing and the rib eye was to dye for!! The cooking experience was something I'll remember forever. And the owner TJ made the night unforgettable... with a couple of INSANE magic tricks, Including sticking a card to the ceiling with our names on it. It's amazing to me how some people just don't get the Minturn Country Club and why it's a priceless jewel for so many seasonal travelers and locals alike! If you are a friendly person you will be treated kindly and receive phenomenal service and a complimentary magic show! This place is great for all ages and is always willing to accommodate large families! I've heard people complaining about the pricing of the Wine and Meats! Really?!?! It's a restaurant in ski town America where affluent people vacation. How else are they supposed to be successful in such a competitive industry? Its really all about the experience of being with your friends and family and all cooking simultaneously! It's guaranteed for all laughs and smiles (if you're into that type of thing) You know having fun and working some meats on the grill (shrimp and fish are also a great option) This place is not for the crabby people who need to be pampered! Love, love, love, love! Can I say it one more time? Staying in Vail for a birthday weekend, and wanted to get away for one meal that wouldn't require taking out a mortgage. This place was perfect! Delicious food, wonderful service, and the small mountain town I remember from growing up around here. The meat is cheap, but high quality. I have to say I have a really hard time eating at places that are not sanitary. This place is not sanitary. It is filthy. I watched someone stick their hands into a topping at the salad bar and just eat it. Then when we were grilling our steaks on a dirty grill I watched someone grab the butter spreader from the salad bar, put it on their raw meat and dip it back into the butter at the salad bar. Everyone at our table was thoroughly sickened by it. It's actually a pretty pricey meal considering you cook it yourself. There were also disgusting open vats of teriyaki sauce and I'm not sure what was floating in it but people just touched everything and who knows if their hands were even clean. Then there was the utensil holder that had dirty utensils in it that you pick up your meat with. If this place ever had a health inspection, it could never pass in my opinion and I don't think I could ever go back there. It was everything I could do to just finish my meal. read more

Yes, for $40 (price of a nice filet, I opted for the $19 NY strip) you too can cook your own dinner at this cozy, mountain restaurant. I mean, cooking my own steak is pretty sweet and all, but for forty bucks I expect a skilled chef to juggle razor-sharp knives and slave over my entree for at least 20 minutes. Not at Minturn Country Club, no sir. You gotta EARN that steak, son! Okay, gripes about cooking my own dinner aside, this place was pretty cool. Stopped in here twice. Once in the fall (off season - it was super dead), and once a few weeks ago. Interesting restaurant concept where you can grill your own meat if you would like. Upon entering the restaurant, there is a "Butcher Shop" in the corner where you pick out the meat you would like to grill. Everything looks really good...meats ranged from chicken, strip steak, rib eyes, bacon wrapped filets, etc. I can't comment on the grilling process or experience because the four of us just stopped in for cocktails, shuffle board, and of course see the owner's magic tricks. The owner is a super nice attentive guy, as well as an extremely talented magician. It's pretty funny, this is not the type of place you would expect to go in and then see some a super awesome magic show from the guy behind the bar. When we arrived it was pretty busy, he could tell we were interested in seeing some magic tricks. After a few games of shuffle board, the bar dispersed quite a bit and he came right over to us and performed several magic tricks. It was really cool, and we appreciated how much time he took to perform his tricks. Incredibly entertaining, memorable, we loved it. The only reason I am giving this place 4 and not 5 stars is because the shuffle board costs $4 to play and it's on a timer. Not too much fun when you are playing an intense tie game and then metal posts shoot up in the center of the board to end the game. read more

We have been going to the county club for years and years but this was the first time we had atrocious service and it hampered our enjoyment. Presumably due to Covid, there was not the usual selection from the butchers counter. We were a party of 4 and ordered 3 sides, tuna, a ribeye, and 2 bacon wrapped filet mignons. Our salads were brought to us but portions were meager, a far cry from the unlimited salad bar that is available during non-COVID times. The waitress/server did not tell us about wearing gloves or where the gloves were so that we wouldn't handle the marinade brush and we didn't stumble upon them until 1/4 way through cooking. Unlike the last time we were there about a month ago, there was no hand sanitizer available. When we returned with our dinners, the table had not been cleared of our salad plates and appetizers and we had to stand around waiting for this to be done before we could eat. Service throughout was delayed and inattentive despite the restaurant have very few patrons. When our entrees and sides were finished we again waited to place our order for the famous tater (ice cream) dessert but the server brought our check instead. When she finally understood we wished to have dessert, we were informed that there was only one tater left and that we'd have to share- not great during COVID time... the server again failed to clear our table before bringing the dessert, dropped it off but without extra spoons and plates so we could divide the one treat, and, we had to bus our dishes to another table in order to enjoy the dessert. We assume our server was new and not fully trained as every other experience we've had at MCC has been consistently good. read more

Spent the summer in the Vail area and went to a lot of places to eat. Unfortunately, this was one of the worst experiences we had. I'd been fishing with a guide from the Minturn Anglers down the street and stopped by for dinner. Service was terrible and the food not much better. It s a "cook your own steak" thing. I can cook steak but I also know how to pick them. There was not much quality meat to choose from. And the price, well, I'd just assume go back to the store, pick a better cut and cook it at home. Could do that for much less than what I paid here. There was better offerings just across the street at the bbq place - see my other review - where the crowd and food was much better. I was there one day when the owner of the Country Club in and yelled at the bbq places owner about people parking at his place. The bbq owner laughed after he left that the animosity was because Country Clubs business is failing. I think this is a bit of a tourist trap and not worth your time. read more

This was an extremely disappointing experience. We were previously told by family to give this place a try. A group of 5 friends, and I were very excited to grill our own steaks, and have a unique experience here in Colorado. What we were greeted with was nothing other than frustration and dissatisfaction To begin, when we walked in, we were not greeted kindly. After being seated and waiting a little while, our waiter came with water, and then just took off....no menu, no information, nothing. We asked about it, and he said he couldn't give us a menu, but could not explain anything either....so we were clueless as to what to do, or what our options were in regards to drinks, appetizers, etc. AND THEN HE DISAPPEARED AGAIN. Finally, we were taken to the area where we were able to grill our steaks. There was no guidance, no instructions. We attempted to figure it out for ourselves, and ended up with a few raw steaks despite following the only posted instructions on the wall. There was no one there to assist, or answer any questions on how to avoid that issue. The food was decent once we finally cooked/received it all. (Some sides arrived after we were finished eating our entree because our waiter never returned for us to let him know we never received it.) Some of our fries had to be sent back also because they were cold. To top it all off, for the lack of service, and for the mediocre food and experience, our bill was more expensive than prior places we had tried that were 10x better all around. All in all, the concept of cooking your own steak with your family/friends is great. The potential for it to be a memorable tourist destination is there. However, the way this place executes it all makes it nothing short of a disappointing experience. We will not be returning. read more
