The front-end staff was friendly. The intake technician didn't take my mother's blood pressure in the proper way, so the reading was inaccurate. But since that wasn't connected to the reason we were there, I let it go. My mother was seen by a NP named Shanté. She was pretty standoffish toward my mother, but I figured it was due to being concerned about germs. When we said that we didn't want to get my mother's nose swabbed, Shanté completely shut down productive conversation about treatment and options. She had a real attitude about it and started talking in technical jargon that was way over my mother's head. If I hadn't been there, my mother would have been completely overwhelmed. I tried to ask some follow up questions, but she didn't really offer much helpful information. In the end, she just told us to go to the ER if symptoms changed, but she didn't tell us which symptoms we should be looking out for. Shanté needs to be written up by her supervisor and have some training about how to interact with the public, especially the elderly. In the meantime, she needs to be monitored while seeing patients.

I used to see Dr. Castellanos when I was a kid with my mom, roughly between the ages of…read more12-15(2004-2007). Now as an adult I've realized how horrendous of a doctor he was. Our family eventually stopped seeing him after 3 years of being under his care. We went to him because it was hard to find doctors who spoke Spanish in our area at the time. I'll start with the worst. My mom used to be really concerned for her health. Over time we realized her concerns were signs of what she's now developed, diverticulitis and other digestive issues. She often came in with pain and explained her concerns. Dr. Castellanos would tell my mom that she was fine and to take ibuprofen. Any time she came in it was the same thing even though her symptoms progressed - continue to take ibuprofen. Eventually she told my mom she was too worried and was a bother. We finally stopped going to see him when she used the restroom and found blood in her stool. She developed ulcers in her throat and stomach that were very painful when eating. After we stopped going to see him we found out all of her symptoms were the beginning of diverticulitis. In 2009 she ended up going to the ER because she was heavily bleeding when she used the bathroom. A diverticula had burst open and it was discovered she has 3 total that had developed. She was taken to emergency surgery. She's suffered through diverticulitis ever since with multiple ER visits. Dr. Castellanos was negligent as a doctor when presented with symptoms. He could have referred her to a gastroenterologist but never did. We had HMO at the time and eventually switched to PPO but it was after dealing with him. For my own case, I developed gastro issues around 12 and realized I had sensitivity to certain foods that lead to a lot of gas and odd noises in my intestines. I felt shy about it as a kid but was worried because I didn't want to sit in class having those noises come from my intestines because well... it was awkward. My side of the classroom could hear my gas issues and I didn't understand what was causing it. When I told him he blew me off and told me to eat more fiber. I didn't bother more about it or ask because I was too ashamed to ask more. Years later I realized I had food sensitivities and that I need to be careful to avoid dairy. All of this to say - I would absolutely NEVER recommend anyone to see Dr Castallanos. My mom could have sued him for negligence but decided not to. Seeing him still in practice now and talking to family about health made me 20 years later have to go back to write this.

But, I suppose everyone has different experiences. This was mine. It was hard to get through on the phone. They use AI and it does not understand basic questions, and then refers you to a website. Not easy for a GenX, so definitely challenging for an older person. However, once I was able to navigate the website, I made an appointment for the following day. The front staff was friendly, and I was taken back quickly. All very professional. Rico, the x-ray technologist was good and helpful, and Dr. Amy was very patient and caring at the first visit. During the second visit, she seemed more rushed, but I adjust my attitude, and understand that this is an urgent care facility, with different emergencies coming up all the time, so I mentally prepare myself to have to wait. When I made the second appointment, it did have all of my information saved, except for the picture of the insurance card, but that only took one time to go through, so the system must have been improved. My only complaint is that they weren't able to fix my problem, but that's not really on them. The x-rays didn't show anything, so not much they can do except refer me to an orthopedist. They did prescribe pain meds, but, unfortunately, those are not helping. :(

They charge you for follow-up visits, so check your insurance immediately to see if they billed you. From the moment you walk in, they make you sign ridiculous paperwork, including questions about felony history which is invasive, irrelevant, and feels like a violation of patient privacy. I went in for one simple thing: a cortisone shot. Instead of helping me, the NP (Chung) did not treat me unless I took a drug test. Then they sent me for X-rays, making it seem like I would finally get relief afterward. Spoiler: I didn't. After all that, I was given referrals I already had and told to go to urgent care for a cortisone shot something urgent care doesn't even provide. So what was the point of this visit? Billing my insurance. This place does not care about patients. They care about running tests, sending referrals, and charging insurance. If you actually want treatment, go anywhere else.
