Don't bother even booking here. All they ever do is cancel your appointments. It's a complete waste of time.

Overall your visits with the nurses and MDs may feel rushed and haphazard. Its not that what youre dealing with isnt important, its the volume of patients being pumped through. This center along with the other Waianae Coast Comprehensive Health Centers in this little system are overwhelmed and strapped for West side resources. What's crazy is I didn't know they were located in the same area as Ka Makana Alii! This is so convenient considering afterwards, if you're still up for it, you could do grocery shopping at Foodland, or if you've been waiting for a while and you got discharged you could go eat! Or just do what I did and have your spouse drop you off while they go take care of dinner for everyone. The wait was manageable considering I drove westbound in rush hour traffic and was able to get in the queue ahead of time. I also really needed my son to be seen so I knew I had to wait. I also appreciate that everyone who saw my son and me were able to help this new-mom out and ease my worries. From the receptionist, to the nurse who took our vitals, to the doctor who helped diagnose us, I am appreciative of all of them.

Since it was a pre-op clearance, Mely performed an EKG with a portable device she could wheel into the examination room. Next Kylie, PA actually looked into my ears, mouth and felt my stomach which my doctor has never done. She went over my blood pressure, temperature and EKG readings and told me which meds to stop taking one week prior. She sent me down to the lab for blood and urine tests after. I was happy and impressed that both ladies were both kind, thorough and very pretty plus easy to talk to. I was told if I don't get a call, that's good news and I'm cleared for surgery.

I went to check in and was told that the wait was around 1 hour 45 minutes to 2 hours. I said that's fine, I'll wait in my car and asked if I could get a phone call when it's my turn. The receptionist said they don't call people anymore and you have to wait in the waiting room. I decided to go home because my head was pounding and it felt like it was going to explode. I took a nap and decided to return around 6pm. I walked in and went to check in. The employees working at that time were extremely rude and said they weren't taking anyone at the moment. She said "Didn't you see the sign on the door?" I just walked out. I see why this place has so many bad reviews. The workers are super rude and the whole policy of sitting in the waiting room while sick, possibly exposing your germs to others is so inane. I had an urgent problem that needed to be addressed and I normally go to the ER but I found that I could set an appointment with my primary care physician through the app. Unfortunately I missed it so when I was able to call the booking appointments call Center they were able to rebook me to an urgent care at the Kapolei location. This is unheard of to me. When you're missing an appointment, you miss an appointment. I've always known that you just have to go again in a week or two or maybe in a month if your doctor is available but for them to be flexible enough to get me care within a four hour timeframe was really cool especially with how important it was for me to be seen. When I first came in, I checked in at the kiosk, and the check-in process was super simple. It was my first time coming here, so I wasn't sure where to go. The front desk receptionist noticed that I needed help, and after the security guard checked my check-in, she pointed me in the right direction. My nurse was really nice, and the urgent care doctor was extremely helpful and knowledgeable. I felt well taken care of. On a side note, I noticed they have all-gender restrooms and nice waiting areas. Near the waiting area, there was also a little wellness station where it looked like you could check your blood pressure, which I thought was interesting. Their pharmacy is conveniently located right in the middle of the building and is easily accessible. I also like that they're open until 8 PM. Google says they close at 5 PM, which isn't accurate. I'm so happy there's an urgent care close to Kapolei. I've been going to the Waipio location because it's along my commute, and I've also gone out of my way to visit the Moanalua location. Knowing there's one here is great, it's definitely better than going to Queen's Emergency Room all the time! I know I sound like I'm a regular at the hospital, but lately I've been so sick that I actually have been. It's such a breath of fresh air to know that Kaiser has a great medical team that takes such great care of their patients. I also love the modern care I receive through the app. I'm able to schedule appointments, view my test results, and communicate directly with my doctor all in one place. The "Get Care Now" feature is another favorite because I can quickly get medical advice from a healthcare professional. Being able to book appointments without even having to talk to a human is incredibly convenient. What a time to be alive!

Scotty, Beam me up to my appointment at Kaiser Permanente West Oahu in Kapolei!…read more Well, we are not quite there yet but in the meantime, this facility has does its best to make waits for both appointments and for prescription pick ups a lot easier with less line and crowded elevators to stand in. Walk in and there are four check in kiosks at the front entrance. If the kiosks can't check you in, there is a live person check-in desk and there's also a check in person behind the kiosks area to assist you in case of navigation problems. This person can contact your doctor's office in case there are any appointment issues. Once checked in, the magical part is this sitting room experience where you wait for your name to appear on the TV monitor indicating your appointment time is ready, and when you spot your name, you head to the elevator on your way to your doctor visit. Same thing for the prescription pick up wait area except you just go to the counter to purchase your order when you spot your name on the TV monitor in that area. When your appointment time is ready. Walk to the elevators ahead on the left and exit on the floor of your doctor's visit. The office areas are secured. I've only visited this building once so I only have one experience in one of the doctor areas. Sit in the waiting area outside the doctor's offices. A nurse will come to escort you inside almost immediately or shortly after you elevator ride up. Beyond the secured door is the doctor's offices area. This space reminded me of a smaller emergency hospital or regular hospital stay set up where the center area forms a large square work area for the nurses stations and the treatment rooms line the perimeter. The difference is that the doctors have offices in the surrounding areas along the squared nurses station area. Insides of the treatment rooms are your typical Kaiser Permanente visit room but a little smaller and no sink. Despite the smaller footprint, the room felt cozy and bright and the doctor is a lot closer to you as you sit on the folded exam table. When you are done, you exit the same way you walked in, down the elevator, and out to the parking lot to retrieve your car. The parking lot is spacious and best part is that parking is free. There are solar powered roofs over most of the parking lot so your vehicle will most likely be shaded from the sun. The driveway entrance takes you right in a loop toward the building and into the different parking areas but remember on the way out to take the path around the parking lot rather than returning the way you entered bc the entrance path in is actually one way. Had a good doctor visit. I'll be back!

The doctors I saw came across as dismissive, rushed, and condescending. Instead of feeling heard, I often felt like my concerns were being minimized or brushed aside. Questions were not fully answered, and discussions about my health frequently lacked the detail and explanation that patients deserve. I sought care because I had legitimate health concerns and abnormal findings that warranted follow-up and discussion. Rather than receiving thoughtful guidance, I often left appointments feeling more confused than when I arrived. In some cases, information documented in visit notes did not reflect the depth of discussion that actually took place during the appointment. What makes this especially frustrating is that the nurse practitioners and APRNs have been excellent. They took time to listen, explain why testing or follow-up was needed, and treated me with respect. My experience with the emergency department was also positive, professional, and compassionate. This review is not directed at the nursing staff, APRNs, or emergency department. They have consistently provided better communication and patient-centered care than any of the physicians I encountered. After three different PCPs and the same experience each time, I have lost confidence in the physician care provided by this clinic. Patients should not have to feel talked down to in order to receive answers about their own health.

At one point, one of the nurses was talking out loud about a patient who had asked for a foot massage, and the nurses were openly commenting about how demanding the patient was. Me and another family member who was sitting across of me just looked up. I completely understand that working in healthcare can be stressful, and as someone who also works in healthcare, I understand that nurses need a way to cope with difficult or demanding situations. However, I feel that those conversations should happen privately and away from patients and their family members. There were patients and families in the hallway who could hear these conversations. Hearing staff openly discuss patients in that way can make us feel like we are being "too much" or a burden when we ask for help, even though caring for patients is part of their job. I hope the staff can find a better way to communicate and cope with their frustrations without having patients and families within earshot. We understand that healthcare workers have difficult days, but patients are already vulnerable and should feel comfortable asking for help without worrying about being judged or talked about within hearing distance. And what's up with the NOC shift security guard? For a man, you sure have a lot of sass and attitude. Like, I genuinely don't understand it. I sincerely apologize for not knowing where Floor 00 is located, but there was no need for the attitude. If giving me a visitor sticker was too much for you to do, you could've simply said so. You were clearly annoyed for absolutely no reason, and there was no need to make me feel like I was bothering you for simply asking for directions. GO HOME if YOU DONT WANT TO BE THERE.
