Glad to have this clinic. I was taken in to be seen after a brief wait. They have pretty new equipment and great staff. I'm on the mend!

EXER URGENT CARE - SANTA CLARITA The doctor solved the…read moreproblem immediately after four staff members failed. I went to EXER URGENT CARE for a pre=op visit exam required before cataract surgery. The visit included blood work, a physical, and an EKG. My first visit was mostly fine, although the first person had difficulty drawing my blood and the nurse practitioner had to step in to complete it. Later that evening the nurse practitioner called to say my potassium came back high and I needed to repeat the blood test while fasting. She asked if i could return the next morning after fasting and drinking water. The next day is when things went completely off the rails. The first technician had me lie down, stuck me with the needle and started digging around trying to find a vein. No blood. Although I had already ben drinking water the night before and drank a 16oz bottle before arriving, he felt I hadn't had enough and brought me 2- 8oz bottles of water, which I drank. The second person had me sit up and tried the other arm. Same thing. Needle in, digging around, no blood. The third person came in, had me move to a chair and tried again. Still nothing. At this point I asked if someone more experienced could draw my blood, and was told by her "Everyone here is qualified!" Unfortunately, after multiple failed attempts, and blood drawing packages, needles and latex gloves being thrown in the trash, that clearly didn't seem to be the case. Nonetheless, a fourth member confidently told me she would draw two tubes, one for "in house" and one to be "send out". She made two attempts and also walked out with two empty tubes. At this point I had been stuck by FIVE times by FOUR different people. I had over 32 ozs of water in my system, had been fasting, was hungry and had been sitting in a freezing room for an hour and a half. Instead of bring in someone more experienced, they told me I needed to go to QUEST. When I asked to see the Doctor, I was told the Doctor is seeing other patients. When I said I would wait, I was told the doctor "doesn't draw blood" and that I should go to QUEST. When I asked "where exactly", the staff member snippety replied "I already told you QUEST". I didn't ask for the name again as she did tell me, I was asking for the address, since the room I was in had almost no phone signal to look up the address myself. Her reply was "QUEST on LYONS AVE". Anyone familar with Santa Clarita knows Lyons Avenue runs across a large area, so that was not a helpful answer. By this point it was around 12:30 p.m. I had been fasting, was extremely hungry, and was not comfortable driving 20-30 minutes to another facility after being stuck multiple times and sitting there for well over an hour. I insisted they ask the doctor. The doctor eventually came in and explained that she normally does not draw blood. She took one look at my arm, tapped the vein, I heard her say to the staff memeber, "what is wrong with this vein?", (which was in the same area they were trying) inserted the needle, (which I barely felt) and immediately filled the tubes. Done. So after five painful attempts from four different staff members, the doctor- who supposedly "doesn't draw blood" , completed the blood draw in seconds with no problem. If the doctor could do it that easily, why were the four other staff members allowed to keep sticking me over and over again? A simple blood draw should not turn into and hour and a half ordeal. I hope management reviews the training and supervision of the staff performing blood draws at this location so other patients don't have to go through the same experience.

I am giving a 1-star not because of the quality care -but because of their inconsistent billing…read more Co-pay visit is $20 with my insurance for urgent care/immediate care visit, but for the 1 visit I had, at immediate care, I was billed $50. My blue cross insurance claimed that I was seen by a 'specialist' (hospitalist) and that was the reason why. So it seems that whoever is on-call, and if you happen to get a doctor that is not a family medicine doctor, you will be billed $50. That is not a good business practice. Immediate Care is immediate care regardless of what doctor is on call. Patient should not be paying for extra just because your on-call doctor is a specialist. I've sent my son there several times and was billed $20 and one of the doctors he saw was a Pulmonologist, so how do you explain that? It's been since Dec that I have been fighting this claim and Blue Cross nor UCLA are budging to fix this issue and they claim it is one or the other's issue.
